Preface
VENTANA Vector education and collaboration software is for academic medical centers and pathology
groups who wish to share digital slides with students or other pathologists to enrich learning experiences,
increase engagement, and improve efficiency. VENTANA Vector software is digital pathology software for
education and collaboration that improves efficiency, while fostering a collaborative learning environment for
students and a collaborative environment for pathologists who are working remotely on projects. Unlike the
microscope, it allows anytime and anywhere access to digital images, enables the standardization of content
including rare cases, and it provides flexible content and evaluation management tools based on teaching or
project objectives. VENTANA Vector software can be used for:
Education
Create cases and upload digital pathology images and other documents to share with students remotely
Create quizzes/exams to test students based on the content on the site
Collaboration
Create cases and upload Digital Pathology images to share with other pathologists remotely
Give input on cases, annotate images, provide general feedback to colleagues
Mobility
View cases and images on the go with a tablet or mobile device

Logging Out
1. To log out, highlight Account name on any screen to display the pull-down menu. See Figure 4.

Requesting a New Password
1. To request a new password from the Log in screen, click Request new password.
The
User account password request screen is displayed. Passwords can also be reset by contacting the
Administrator.

The following message is displayed. When you receive your email, follow instructions to activate your
password.

Searching in the VENTANA Vector Software
The Search button is available on the main screen control bar. You can search by content or user.

Search to display the Search feature.
2. Type your search criteria in the
Enter your keywords field.
You can also select
Advanced search features.
NOTE: You must include at least one positive keyword with 3 characters or more for content searches.

You can search for users of the VENTANA Vector software.

Users button on the Search screen.

Client Administrator Role: creates and maintains Creators and Viewers. An administrator has the same
function as a creator, but can over ride all creators.
Creator Role
Authenticated User Role: views content, takes quizzes, uses forum and accesses the calendar.

Maintaining Users
Administrators can add, modify, and delete new users. Users can be authenticated users, creators, and
administrators.
Adding a User
1. Click Add users on the main screen.

2. Fill in the fields on the Home page.
The user account must have a unique user name, email, and password. You can give the user a blocked or
active status. A blocked user cannot access the system.

Define the user account parameters by filling in the fields on the Home page. Required fields are defined
with a red (*) asterisk.

3. Click when you are finished.

Modifying User Accounts
User accounts can be modified and deleted by the Administrator. Authenticated users and creators can also
make some modifications to their own accounts such as passwords and adding images.
1. To see all user accounts, click
User Listing.

A list of all users in the system is displayed.
2. Click on the
Username to see the View user information screen. See Figure 6.

Edit to display the Edit user screen for that user. See Figure 7.

NOTE: Creators and authenticated users can modify their accounts by clicking on Account on their Main
screen.

3. Click Edit to display and edit the account parameters.
To delete a user click on .
WARNING: Once you delete an account, all information on the user is removed from the system.

Maintaining the Calendar
You can schedule and plan events on the VENTANA Vector software calendar.
Viewing the Calendar
1. On the Account pull-down, click Calendar.

Administrators and Creators can add and edit events on a calendar.
1. Click
Create Events to add an event to the calendar.
