Defrosting the refrigerator compartment
The refrigerator has an automatic defrosting function: water is
ductedtothebackoftheappliancebyaspecialdischargeoutlet
(seediagram)wheretheheatproducedbythecompressorcauses
ittoevaporate.Itisnecessarytocleanthedischargeholeregularly
so that the water can flow out easily.
Defrosting the freezer compartment
Ifthefrostlayerisgreaterthan5mm,itisnecessarytodefrost
manually:
1. SettheTEMPERATUREADJUSTMENTknobtotheposition
OFF
2. Wrapfrozenfoodsinnewspaperandplacetheminanother
freezerorinacoolplace.
3. Leavethedooropenuntilthefrosthasmeltedcompletely.This
canbemadeeasierbyplacingcontainerswithlukewarmwater
inthefreezercompartment.
4. Clean anddry thefreezer compartment carefullybefore
switchingtheapplianceonagain.
Replacing the light bulb *
Toreplacethelightbulbintherefrigeratorcompartment,pullout
theplugfromtheelectricalsocket.Followtheinstructionsbelow.
Access the light bulb by removing the cover as indicated in the
diagram.Replaceitwithasimilarlightbulbwithinthepowerrange
indicated on the cover.

General safety
• Theappliancewasdesignedfordomesticuseinsidethehome
and is not intended for commercial or industrial use.
• Theappliancemustbeusedtostoreandfreezefoodproducts
by adults only and according to the instructions in this manual.
• Theappliancemustnotbeinstalledoutdoors,evenincovered
areas.It isextremely dangerousto leavethe appliance
exposedtorainandstorms.
• Donottouchtheappliancewithbarefeetorwithwetormoist
hands and feet.
• Donottouchtheinternalcoolingelements:thiscouldcause
skinabrasionsorfrost/freezerburns.
• Whenunpluggingtheappliancealwayspulltheplugfromthe
mainssocket,donotpullonthecable.
• Before cleaning and maintenance,always switch off the
applianceanddisconnectitfromtheelectricalsupply.Itis
notsufficient toset thetemperature adjustmentknobs on
OFF
(applianceoff)toeliminateallelectricalcontact.
• Inthecaseofamalfunction,undernocircumstancesshould
youattempttorepairtheapplianceyourself.Repairscarried
outby inexperienced persons may cause injury orfurther
malfunctioningoftheappliance.
• Donotuseanysharporpointedutensilsorelectricalequipment
-otherthanthetyperecommendedbythemanufacturer-inside
thefrozenfoodstoragecompartments.
• Donotputicecubestakendirectlyfromthefreezerintoyourmouth.
• Thisapplianceisnotintendedforusebypersons(including
children)withreducedphysical,sensoryorlackofexperience
andknowledge unlessthey havebeen given supervision
orinstructionconcerninguseoftheappliancebyaperson
responsiblefortheirsafety.Childrenshouldbesupervisedto
ensurethattheydonotplaywiththeappliance.
• Keeppackagingmaterialoutofthereachofchildren!Itcan
become a choking or suffocation hazard.
Disposal
• Observe local environmental standards when disposing
packagingmaterialforrecyclingpurposes.
• TheEuropeanDirective2002/96/EConWasteElectricaland
Electronic Equipment (WEEE), requires that oldhousehold
electricalappliancesmustnotbedisposedofinthenormal
unsortedmunicipal wastestream. Old appliances must be
collectedseparately inorder to optimise the recovery and
recyclingofthematerialstheycontainandreducetheimpact
on human health and the environment. The crossed out
“wheeledbin” symbolon theproduct remindsyou of your
obligation,thatwhenyoudisposeoftheapplianceitmustbe
separatelycollected. Consumersshould contact their local
authority or retailer for information concerning the correct
disposaloftheiroldappliance.
Respecting and conserving the
environment
• Installtheapplianceinafreshandwell-ventilatedroom.Ensure
thatitisprotectedfromdirectsunlightanddonotplaceitnear
heat sources.
• Trytoavoidkeepingthedooropenforlongperiodsoropening
thedoortoofrequentlyinordertoconserveenergy.
• Do not fill the appliance withtoo muchfood: coldair must
circulatefreelyforfoodtobepreservedproperly.Ifcirculation
isimpeded,thecompressorwillworkcontinuously.
• Donotplacehotfooddirectlyintotherefrigerator.Theinternal
temperaturewillincreaseandforcethecompressortowork
harder and will consume more energy.
• Defrosttheapplianceificeforms(see Maintenance). A thick
layeroficemakescoldtransferencetofoodproductsmore
difficultandresultsinincreasedenergyconsumption.
