Safety and Warranty
1. Read these safety instructions carefully.
2. Keep this user's manual for later reference.
3. Disconnect from power outlet before cleaning, disassembly or transport. Do
not use liquid or spray detergents for cleaning. Use a damp cloth only and
avoid any prolonged contact with moisture.
4. Keep the unit away from humidity.
5. Place the unit on a sturdy surface before servicing or operation to prevent
accidental drops.
6. The openings on the enclosure are for ventilation. Do NOT cover the
openings.
7. Make sure the voltage and load ratings of the power source are correct before
connecting the equipment to the power outlet.
8. Position the power cord to prevent accidental tripping. Do not twist, pinch or
clip the power cord.
9. All cautions and warnings printed on the equipment should be followed.
10. If the equipment is not used for a long time, disconnect it from the power
source.
11. Never pour any liquid into an opening. This could cause fire or electrical
shock.
12. For safety reasons, only qualified service personnel should open and service
the equipment.
13. If any of the following situations arises, get the equipment checked by service

personnel:
The power cord, plug, or adapter is visibly damaged.
Liquid has entered into the equipment.
The equipment has been exposed to moisture.
The equipment does not work as intended, or you cannot get it to work
according to the users manual.
The equipment has been dropped and damaged.
The equipment has obvious signs of breakage.

ENVIRONMENT WHERE THE STORAGE TEMPERATURE IS BELOW -2

Chapter 1 Introduction
About AM-1008W
AM-1008W is a new type of multifunction LCD display. Featuring 8” widescreen LCD
panel with bright LED backlight, slim frame and innovative features.
Main Features:
All in one compact design with integrated and standalone mounting
options.
HD LCD panel with high brightness and contrast for optimal viewing.
Optional 20x2 Customer Display emulation with overlay.
Optional NFC module featuring read/write functions

AM-1008W features an unique all-in-one connection allowing simple setup and cable
management. A custom-designed connector houses both video and power supply.

Chapter 2 Hardware & Software
Standalone Setup
1. Unpack the contents
2. Take the two extension tubing and assemble them by pressing the two
nipples inward and slide them into the cavity as shown. The nipple will click
into the opening and lock.
Do not perform any service or upgrade without shutting down the
terminal first. Power must be switched off and power cord must be
unplugged. Failure to do so may result in system damage which is not
covered by FEC warranty.

3. Unwrap the cable from its protective bag and untie the cable tie to loosen the
cables.

4. Starting with the thinnest cable (USB or RS232, thread it through the base
opening as shown.
5. Keeping the threaded cable to the left side, thread the video signal cable
(HDMI or VGA) through as shown.

6. Align the extension tubes with docking socket facing the narrow side of the
base, pull the cables through and assemble the extension tubing to the base
using the method outlined in Step 2.

7. Tilt the stand over and thread the cables as shown (thinnest cable always
first)

8. Dock the screen as shown by aligning the points circled and push the screen
downward to dock with the stand.
9. Lay the unit face down and attach the two screws as shown.

Connecting to System
Please follow these steps to ensure proper function and display resolution.
1. Plug in either the USB or RS232 cable to your system first. If unit is
equipped with NFC module, you will hear a soft beep.
2. Attach the signal cable (HDMI or VGA) to the system. The display
should be functional momentarily.
3. If nothing is displayed, first check your system is configured properly,
then disconnect the cabled and repeat Step 1 & 2 again.
Customer Display Option
AM-1008W can emulate 20x2 VFD compatible with EPSON commands. The
output is displayed using overlay technology.

NFC Option
1. The NFC module is configured to be HID USB read only by default. To
enable Virtual COM read/write mode, please install the Virtual COM
driver provided by FEC.
2. If the driver is not included, please contact your FEC representative.
