New Plate Designs Offer
Higher Strength for Greater
Spacing Options
When retrofitting an older home to secure it to the
foundation, space constraints can make vertical access
a challenge. Two next-generation foundation plates from
Simpson Strong-Tie are ideal solutions for attaching first-floor
framing to the foundation to prevent a home from sliding off
in an earthquake. The URFP and FRFP foundation plates
are specifically designed for locations with limited vertical
clearance, in basement areas or crawl spaces, where floors
are supported directly on the mudsill or short cripple wall.

URFP Universal Retrofit
Foundation Plate
The URFP is the new improved version of the versatile UFP
plate. Its new, stiffer design offers higher strength, making it
a one-for-one replacement for a ½"- or
"-diameter anchor
bolt. The innovative design also allows it to suit a variety of
foundation types as well as mudsill positions — from a 2 ½"
setback from the inside edge of the foundation to a ½"
overhang (and everything in between).
Material: URFP – 14 gauge
Finish: Galvanized. May be
ordered HDG; contact
Simpson Strong-Tie.
Installation
Use all specified fasteners.
Loads are based on test
results using Strong-Drive

FRFP Flat Retrofit
Foundation Plate
The FRFP is the improved replacement for the
FAP. The new design offers higher loads and is
ideal where the mudsill is flush to the inside of the
foundation (or up to 1½" set back). In addition to
the three prescriptive sill plate fastener holes, there
are two optional holes which, when filled, provide
increased loads and enable greater spacing
between FRFP plates in engineered applications
and make it a one-for-one replacement for

anchor bolts.

Finish: Galvanized. May be ordered HDG;
