FRFP Flat Retrofit
Foundation Plate
The FRFP is the improved replacement for the
FAP. The new design offers higher loads and is
ideal where the mudsill is flush to the inside of the
foundation (or up to 1½" set back). In addition to
the three prescriptive sill plate fastener holes, there
are two optional holes which, when filled, provide
increased loads and enable greater spacing
between FRFP plates in engineered applications
and make it a one-for-one replacement for
"
anchor bolts.
Material: FRFP – 7 gauge
Finish: Galvanized. May be ordered HDG;
contact Simpson Strong-Tie.
Installation
• Use all specified fasteners.
• Loads are based on test results using
Strong-Drive
®
¼
" SDS Heavy-Duty
Connector screws.
• FRFP shall use a minimum Strong-Drive SDS
Heavy-Duty Connector screw length of 2
½
" plus
the shim thickness (screws sold separately).

1. Allowable loads have been increased for wind or earthquake loading with no
further increase allowed; reduce where other load durations apply.
2. F
1
is load parallel-to-plate. F
2
is load perpendicular-to-plate.
3. Each anchor bolt requires a standard cut washer. The Simpson Strong-Tie
Titen HD
®
heavy-duty screw anchor does not require a washer.
4. Nominal embedment depth for post-installed anchors must be a minimum of
4" and is for use with SET-XP
®
or AT-XP
®
structural anchoring adhesives or
Titen HD screw anchors.
5. For redwood mudsills, reduce F
1
to 820 lb. (1,395 lb. for five screws).
6. For installation on SPF/HF sill plates, use 0.86 x DF/SF allowable load.
7. For additional retrofit information, see F-SEISRETRGD.

1. “Prescriptive” denotes spacing requirements per the IEBC and
designs per the IRC and conventional provisions of the IBC.
2. FRFP with five SDSs may be used as a one-for-one
replacement for
" anchor bolts.
3. Spacing is based on the parallel-to-plate load direction.
4.
" anchor bolt required for Seismic Design Category E.
5. The FRFP may be installed with HDG lag screws per the IEBC
for three fasteners. Follow code requirements for predrilling.
