1. Introduction
DN9131 compress video/audio data and transmit the compressed video,
audio, data through the network in real time. DN9131 provides a high
quality video image with limited bandwidth and storage capacity. These
products are ideally suited for a widerange of surveillance and remote
monitoring applications. Main features are highlighted below.

1 USB Port
DN9131 provides one USB port which may connect to the USB device as
an external storage device and a wireless device. It can be connected to
multiple USB devices using USB HUB.

Audio Input
DN9131 have one channel mono audio input.
Audio Output
DN9131 have one channel mono audio output. The audio output very
low-watt, therefore it requires amplifier speaker (Do not use headphone
/earphone directly)
Digital Alarm Input (DI1, DI2)
DN9131 supports two digital inputs. It can be connected either voltage
type sensor or relay type sensor as following Figure 4 and Figure 5.
Caution
!
Do not use voltage and relay type sensor together.
Please pay attention to electric characteristics during installation.

5 LED Power Status Indicator
6 Reset Switch (Reset)
Reset switch is used for restarting DN9131 or resetting DN9131 as
Factory Default(FD). Refer to section 4.1 for detailed procedures.

4. Operation Description
4.1. Factory Default Settings
Factory default settings are set as follows:
• IP address: 192.168.xx.yy (refer to 2.3 Serial Number / MAC Address)
• Mask: 255.255.0.0
• Gateway: 192.168.0.1
• User ID: root
• Password: pass

MAC address = 00-13-23-01-23-45 IP address = 192.168.35.69
To Convert Hexadecimal numbers to Decimal numbers, use PC calculator.
In Calculator Menu:
1. Click View and select Scientific version
2. Next select Hex to convert digits xx - use keypad input number ex: 23
3. Next select Dec and get result = 35
4. Repeat for digits yy select Hex, input number ex: 45
5. Next select Dec and get result = 69
To perform the FD (Factory Default) initialization:
1. Turn on the power (The status LED is on).
2. Press and hold the Reset button within 1 second.
3. Release the Reset button after 3 seconds.
4.2. Rebooting
To reboot the system:
1. While the camera is in use, press and hold the Reset button. (Both Status
and Network LEDs are on.)
2. Release the Reset button after 3 seconds.

5. Power over Ethernet (PoE)
The PoE feature employed in DN9131 is available in model DN9131-4. The standard
units for power via 12VDC are models DN9131-1. For the detailed information, please
see Data Sheet on Series DN9131, 1 Channel Encoder/Server.
5.1. PoE compatibility
With non Power Sourcing Equipment (PSE)
When it is connected with non PSE, the power adaptor should be connected.
With power adaptor
Connecting both PSE and power adaptor does not do any harm to the products.
Disconnecting power adaptor while it is operating does not stop operation. The
product continues to work without rebooting.
5.2. Power classification
The PoE Power Class supported by DN9131 is Class 0.
Table 1 shows IEEE 802.3af power classes.

QUICK GUIDE FOR UPDATING IP ENCODER DN9131
Factory default settings are set as follows:

To change default IP settings to IP address compatible with your Network:
1. Go to Control Panel of you PC and click on Network and Internet Connections
2. Next click on Network Connections
3. Next right click on Local Area Connection and select Properties
4. Next Scroll down to Internet Protocol TCP/IP, select and click on Properties
5. Next Select “Use the following IP Address and if the default address is:
192.168.35.65 input into the box:
IP address 192.168.35.100 (last numbers higher than default)
Subnet Mask 255.255.0.0
Default Gateway 192.168.1.1
6. Next Click OK and wait 2 minutes for your PC to take on new IP address
7. Next go to Start and click on Run and type cmd
8. Next user must ping device to see that it reponds

If not detected in Network a screen apperas as (Request timed out:
10.If detected in Network a screen appears as Reply from IP address – using
example with 192.168.1.65
11. Return to Control Panel and follow procedures 1, 2, 3 and 4
12. Next Select “Obtain an IP address automatically
13. Next Click OK and wait 2 minutes for your PC to take on new IP
address
14. Use may open Internet explorer and type http://192.168.1.65/
15. Screen appears to indicate that the security of your PC is at risk
16. Select Continue to this website; open web browser of DN9131 Encoder
17. Click on Setup user name: root password: pass
18. If image vertical is jumping, select Video, Audio select Video-In
19. In Video-In select NTSC or PAL and click on Apply, wait 3 minutes
20. Next go to System Options to change the IP Address of Encoder
21. Select TCP/IP and input new IP address, click Apply, wait 3 minutes
22. Next ping device as in procedure # 9, if successful then
23. Use may open Internet explorer and type in new IP address selected
24. Screen appears to indicate that the security of your PC is at risk; Select
Continue to this website; open web browser of DN9131 Encoder
