Motor Driver Replacement
Replacing your Z-axis or vision system motor

CHECKLIST:
The following items will be needed in this section.
Read instructions thoroughly before beginning.
BEFORE YOU START:
DRS24C Series
POWER DOWN DRS24 AND DISCONNECT
FROM POWER SOURCE.
ELECTRICAL WARNING:
The two motor drivers look the same, but they
are not interchangeable!
NOTE:
OBSERVE PROPER STATIC PRECAUTIONS.

VERIFY DRS24 IS DISCONNECTED FROM THE POWER SOURCE.
Both motor drivers are located in the DRS24 right box (A), (fig.1).
Remove the 10/32” button head screw (B), (fig.1), and swing right box open.
The remaining steps will be performed assuming you are located behind the DRS24.
The top driver (C), (fig. 2), is for your vision cube and the bottom driver (D), (fig. 2), is
for your Z-axis.
Unplug connectors (E), (fig. 2), on the driver you are replacing.

Loosen, do not remove, the two M3x12 screws (F), (fig. 3), on each side of the driver you’re
replacing. Slide driver to the left and lift out of machine.
Locate the new driver and remove plastic cover (fig. 4). Grasp the heatsink in one hand and
plastic cover in the other. Gently squeeze the center semi-circle feature of the plastic cover to
unlock and slide it off the front of the driver.

Set the dip switches per (fig. 5) vision driver, or (fig. 6) Z-axis driver, depending on which driver
you are replacing.
On the dip switches, “Open” means “Off”.
Slide cover back on driver and install driver back into machine.
Tighten M3x12 screws (F), (fig. 3), and plug the connectors (E), (fig.2), back in.
DO NOT FORCE CONNECTORS IN! CHECK ORIENTATION OF PLUG FIRST.
