These instructions relate ONLY to the Solar Gazing Ball and
contain important information for using the product for the
first time. Please keep these instructions for later reference.
They should always accompany the product in the event of
transfer to a new user.
1. INTRODUCTION
Thank you for purchasing the Solar Gazing Ball. You have
purchased a product that complies with the latest and most
advanced and up-to-date solar technology available. This product
complies with European and National Standards. The relevant
certificates of conformity are held by Smart Solar. To preserve these
standards and in order to maintain safety you should adhere to
the instructions for use detailed in this manual.
2. SECURITY INSTRUCTIONS
In the event of any problems arising or damage occurring as
a result of misuse the manufacturers warranty will be deemed
cancelled. The manufacturer is not responsible for any claims
or damages arising from the misuse of this product. For safety
reasons and in order to maintain standards (CE) you are prohibited
from altering or changing any component in the Solar Gazing Ball.
Please follow the instructions very carefully. For commercial
applications due care and attention must be paid to the Health
and Safety Standards in your jurisdiction.

3. OVERVIEW
The Chameleon
™
solar gazing ball is a lighted solar
garden accent. The pedestal is made from a fiberglass/resin
composite. The gazing ball itself is made from a special
crackled glass, is illuminated by LEDs, and the panel absorbs
sunlight and converts it to usable energy that is stored in
the rechargeable Ni-Mh batteries found on the inside of the
gazing ball. The illumination comes from multi-color & white
LED. The unit will automatically go on in the evening and
go off at daylight or when the battery pack is exhausted.
In order for your unit to operate at maximum efficiency it is
important to place it in direct sunlight. The performance of
your unit will depend on the charging of the batteries by the
solar panel and will be affected by location and the season
position of the sun.

5. ASSEMBLING & USING YOUR PRODUCT
1. Carefully unpack the product from the box paying special
attention not to drop the glass gazing ball on any hard surface
since it will break if dropped.
2. Turn pedestal right side up and place in desired location.
3. Select either color mode or white mode on the bottom of the
gazing ball. (See Figure 1)
4. Screw Gazing Ball into pedestal. (See Figure 2)
5. For optimal results allow the gazing ball to fully charge for one
day in the off position and then slide the on/off switch on the
bottom of gazing ball to activate.
6. CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
The glass gazing ball should be cleaned with a soft cloth and
water or a mild glass cleaning solution.
Changing of the batteries:
This product is powered by 2 AAA Ni-Mh 600 mAh
rechargeable batteries. Under normal use, the batteries should
last approximately 2 years. It is time to replace the batteries
when the gazing globe operates for only a few hours or
becomes dim despite a full day of charging in bright sun.
To replace the batteries simply remove the screws from the
underside of the gazing ball. Carefully remove the cover (See
Figure 3). Remove the old batteries and replace with new AAA
Ni-Mh 600 mAh batteries. Pay attention to orient the batteries
with the “+’ and “-“ poles in the correct position (See Figure 4).
Replace the top cover by re-fastening all the screws.
Please note: Used batteries must be disposed of carefully
with regard to the environment and should not be put into
the family waste. Please follow your local disposal laws
accordingly.

7. TROUBLESHOOTING
If the light does not come on in the evening, please verify the
following:
1) The switch on the underside of the gazing ball is in the “on” position
2) The sensor is not being illuminated by another light source
simulating daylight and preventing the light from coming on

1. Do not disassemble the unit except for the battery cover
2. Keep the product away from fire
3. Do not hit the product with hard objects
4. Do not drop the glass gazing ball in any hard surface – it will shatter
5. Use only water or a mild glass cleaning solution to clean the
glass gazing ball – do not use harsh chemicals
6. This product is not a toy – please use only as a garden decoration
7. If you live in an area with frequent below freezing tempera-
tures, you should store this product in a dry location for the
winter. If these steps are not followed, the glass may crack
due to condensation and freezing temperatures.

product fails due to a defect in materials or workmanship,
Smart Solar will replace or repair it free of charge.

The warranty does not apply to:
Damage caused by accidents, abuse, poor handling, frost or
normal wear and tear. Products which have been subject to
unauthorized repair or modification.
