Installation and Operation
Introduction
The life and capacity of a Lithium Ion battery can vary significantly depending on how and where
it is used. As with all batteries, expect to see a reduction in the total number of operations a fully
charged battery pack can deliver as it ages. Charging times may increase but will not exceed four
hours. Li-Ion battery packs do not need to be fully discharged between charge cycles.
Setup
1. Ensure that the location you choose for the MULTI-charger is well ventilated and protected
from inclement weather.
2. Place the MULTI-charger on a horizontal, hard surface.
3. Plug the external power supply’s three-prong connector into a grounded wall socket or UPS
device. LXE does not recommend using extension cords with the external power supply.
4. Push the barrel connector into the DC power connector on the MULTI-charger until it seats
firmly.

8 Installation and Operation
MX1-IS MULTI-charger User’s Guide E-EQ-MX1ISMCHGROG-C
Normal Operations
The optimal temperature for maximum charging to battery pack capacity is 25°C.
The operating temperature range for the charger is between 50°F and 95°F (10°C and 35°C).
While charging, the charger and battery pack will generate enough heat to feel warm. This is
normal and does not indicate a problem.
Do not store the battery pack in direct sunlight or anywhere that would prevent the battery pack
from cooling down.
If the battery pack is hot after removal from the computer, allow it to cool at room temperature
before placing it in the charger.
Charge times may increase significantly if the battery is warm or hot, since it takes the battery
pack longer to cool down while in the charger pocket. If the battery pack is hot from severe
environmental use and immediate recharging is necessary, place the battery pack in a cool air
stream or in a cool location until it is no longer warm to the touch before charging.
Maintenance
Use a clean soft cloth to wipe any dirt, moisture or grease from the battery pack, contacts or the
charger. Do not use any liquid to clean the battery pack or charger contacts.
Storage
Battery packs should be kept in a cool, dry place whenever possible. Do not store battery packs in
direct sunlight, on a metal surface, or anywhere the battery pack cannot cool down. Do not leave
the battery pack in a non-operating charger. The battery pack may discharge through the charger
rather than hold its charge.
Service
There are no user serviceable parts in the LXE 157873-0001 or LXE 161139-0001 Rechargeable
Lithium Ion Battery Pack or the charger. Should your charger require service, contact LXE. Refer

Appendix
Troubleshooting Guide
The following is intended as an aid in determining whether the battery pack or the charger may be malfunctioning.
Problem Cause Solution
Battery pack does not fit in
charger pocket.
Different manufacturer's battery
pack.
Check if the battery pack is LXE part
number 157873-0001 or 161139-0001. If
not, do not use.
The contacts in the charge pocket
are damaged.
Contact LXE for a charge pocket
replacement.
There is an object in the charger
pocket.
Remove the object from the charger
pocket.
No battery pack in charger,
but charging, battery fault,
and temperature LEDs are
on.
Dirt or foreign objects are in the
charger pocket.
Unplug charger from outlet. Remove any
dirt or foreign objects from charger pocket.
If the LEDs continue to remain ON, the
charger may be defective. Return charger
to an authorized LXE service center.
Power LED is ON, battery
pack is inserted, but charger
pocket LED is OFF.
Battery pack is not making
contact with charging pins in the
charger pocket.
Remove and then push battery pack in
firmly. Do not "slam" the battery pack into
the battery pocket.
Wrong battery pack. The battery pack in the charger pocket
may be similar in appearance to a different
type of equipment’s battery pack (e.g. the

10 Appendix
MX1-IS MULTI-charger User’s Guide E-EQ-MX1ISMCHGROG-C
Problem Cause Solution
LED is YELLOW when
battery pack is first inserted
in the charger.
The battery pack is too hot or too
cold to charge.
Remove battery pack from the charger and
allow it to adjust to room temperature.
Note: If the battery pack is left in the
charger, it will cool down or
warm to a temperature at which
time the charger will begin the
charge cycle. However, depending
on the temperature of the battery,
it may take 2-3 hours to adjust.
The cool-down of a battery pack is
much quicker if the battery is not
in the charger pocket.
LED is YELLOW when
battery pack is in the
CHARGING cycle. The
charge cycle has been
suspended.
The battery pack has become too
hot or too cold to continue
charging.
If this is the first time the battery pack has
initiated a temperature fault, remove the
battery pack and allow it to achieve room
temperature. Then try to charge the battery
pack a second time. If the LED is
YELLOW again, the battery pack is
defective, or the temperature of the charger
or battery pack is out of specification.
When you first put a fully
charged battery pack in the
charger, the LED turns RED,
indicating the battery pack
needs charging.
There is nothing wrong with the
battery pack or charger. During
the first few minutes, the charger
checks the battery pack for
correct voltage and charge state.
During this time charge pocket
LED is continuously RED. After
charging is complete, the LED is
GREEN.
Do not "top off" a fully charged battery
pack by repeatedly placing it in charger.

Opstilling af MX1-IS MULTI-charger
FARE
Oplad kun LXE del nr. 157873-0001 / 161139-0001, genopladelige lithium-ion batteripakker, i denne oplader.
Betjening af MX1-IS MULTI-charger
Opladeren
genererer intern varme under opladning.
Vær forsigtig ved indsættelse af batteriet. Batteriet må ikke "smækkes" ind i fordybningen. Dette kan beskadige
opladeren.
Hold batterifordybningen fri for snavs og fremmede genstande. Kontakterne i batterifordybningen må ikke
kortsluttes.
Opbevaring af MX1-IS MULTI-charger
Vedligeholdelse af MX1-IS MULTI-charger

Håndtering af MX1-IS batteripakker
ADVARSEL
LXE før forsøg på at indsætte dem i MX1-IS computeren.
i brug.
Risiko for elektrisk stød
FARE
Følgende forholdsregler skal overholdes for at undgå risikoen for elektrisk stød i forbindelse
med opladning af batterier:
MX1-IS MULTI-charger er udelukkende konstrueret til indendørs brug. Undgå brug udendørs eller i yderst fugtige
omgivelser.
fugtet klud. Undgå brug af opløsningsmidler eller brændbære rengøringsmidler. Lad kassen tørre helt før den tages
i brug.
med MX1-IS MULTI-charger.
MX1-IS MULTI-charger må ikke demonteres.
