Thank you for purchasing this JAVAD GNSS product. The materials available in this User Manual (the

“Manual”) have been prepared by JAVAD GNSS for owners of JAVAD GNSS products. It is designed to

assist owners with the operating of the Giodis Software and its use is subject to these terms and

conditions (the “Terms and Conditions”).

COPYRIGHT – All information contained in this Manual is the intellectual property of, and

copyrighted material of JAVAD GNSS. All rights are reserved. You may not use, access, copy,

store, display, create derivative works of, sell, modify, publish, distribute, or allow any third

party access to, any graphics, content, information or data in this Manual without JAVAD

GNSS’ express written consent and may only use such information for the operation of your

software. The information and data in this Manual are a valuable asset of JAVAD GNSS and

are developed by the expenditure of considerable work, time and money, and are the result of

original selection, coordination and arrangement by JAVAD GNSS.

EXCESS OF THE PURCHASE PRICE FOR THE GIODIS SOFTWARE.

CONFIDENTIALITY – This Manual, its contents and the Software (collectively, the

“Confidential Information”) are the confidential and proprietary information of JAVAD

GNSS. You agree to treat JAVAD GNSS' Confidential Information with a degree of care no

less stringent that the degree of care you would use in safeguarding your own most valuable

trade secrets. Nothing in this paragraph shall restrict you from disclosing Confidential

Information to your employees as may be necessary or appropriate to operate Giodis

Software. Such employees must also keep the Confidentiality Information confidential. In the

event you become legally compelled to disclose any of the Confidential Information, you shall

give JAVAD GNSS immediate notice so that it may seek a protective order or other

appropriate remedy.

WEBSITE; OTHER STATEMENTS – No statement contained at the JAVAD GNSS website (or

any other website) or in any other advertisements or JAVAD GNSS literature or made by an

employee or independent contractor of JAVAD GNSS modifies these Terms and Conditions

(including the Software license, warranty and limitation of liability).

MISCELLANEOUS – The above Terms and Conditions may be amended, modified,

superseded, or canceled, at any time by JAVAD GNSS. The above Terms and Conditions will

be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of the State of California, without

reference to conflict of laws.

Giodis Software End User License Agreement

IMPORTANT, READ CAREFULLY. THIS END USER LICENSE AGREEMENT (“AGREEMENT”)

IS A LEGAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN YOU (“Customer”) AND JAVAD GNSS, Inc. (“JAVAD

GNSS”) and applies to the computer software with which this Agreement is provided, and includes any

accompanying printed materials and any “online” or electronic documentation (“Software”). This

Agreement will also apply to any Software error corrections, updates and upgrades subsequently

furnished by JAVAD GNSS, unless such are accompanied by different license terms and conditions which

will govern their use. BY CLICKING “I Agree” IN THE ACCEPTANCE BOX, OR BY INSTALLING,

COPYING OR OTHERWISE USING THE SOFTWARE, YOU AGREE TO BE BOUND BY THE

TERMS OF THIS AGREEMENT. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO THE TERMS OF THIS

AGREEMENT, YOU MAY NOT USE THIS SOFTWARE.

Software License

This Software is protected by copyright laws and international copyright treaties, as well as other

intellectual property laws and treaties.

Ownership

This is a license agreement and NOT an agreement for sale. JAVAD GNSS continues to own the copy of

the Software, contained on the flash memory drive or downloaded from JAVAD GNSS Website and all

copies thereof. Your rights to the Software are specified in this LICENSE GRANT section of this

agreement, and JAVAD GNSS retains all rights not expressly granted to you in this LICENSE.

License Grant

Subject to the terms and conditions of this Agreement, JAVAD GNSS grants you a non-exclusive, non-

transferable license, without right of sublicense, to install, use and display the Software in a machine-

readable form solely for your internal purposes. You may reasonably copy the Software to the extent

necessary to enable your permitted internal use of the Software, but you may not copy or distribute the

Software to any third parties.

Other Rights and Limitations

(1) The Software contains valuable trade secrets proprietary to JAVAD GNSS and its suppliers. To the

extent permitted by relevant law, you shall not, nor allow any third party to copy, decompile, disassemble

or otherwise reverse engineer the Software, or attempt to do so, provided, however, that to the extent any

applicable mandatory laws give you the right to perform any of the aforementioned activities without

JAVAD GNSS's consent in order to gain certain information about the Software for purposes specified in

the respective statutes (e.g., interoperability), you hereby agree that, before exercising any such rights,

you shall first request such information from JAVAD GNSS in writing detailing the purpose for which

you need the information. Only if and after JAVAD GNSS, at its sole discretion, partly or completely

denies your request, may you exercise such statutory rights. (2) This Software is licensed as a single

product. You may not separate its component parts for use on more than one computer or device. (3) You

may not rent, lease, or lend, the Software. (4) You may not modify or make derivative works of the

Software. (5) No service bureau work, multiple-user license or time-sharing arrangement is permitted.

For purposes of this Agreement “service bureau work” shall be deemed to include, without limitation, use

of the Software to process or to generate output data for the benefit of, or for purposes of rendering

services to any third party over the Internet or other communications network. (6) Because of the unique

nature of the algorithms and methodologies provided in the Software, Customer acknowledges that

JAVAD GNSS has incorporated protection measures against any form of non-licensed use of the Software

or parts thereof. Customer agrees that the Software is provided with a hardware protection key (dongle)

which is required to run the Software and any of its applications. IT IS THE FULL RESPONSIBILITY

OF CUSTOMER TO PROTECT THE DONGLE ADEQUATELY AND SECURE IT AGAINST LOSS

AND DISAPPEARANCE. CUSTOMER WILL NOT BE ENTITLED TO OBTAIN A REPLACEMENT

DONGLE UNLESS THE ORIGINAL DONGLE IS DEFECTIVE AND IS RETURNED TO JAVAD

GNSS BY A TRACKABLE COURIER SERVICE.

All right, title and interest (including but not limited to copyright, patent, trade secret and all other

intellectual property and proprietary rights worldwide) in and to the Software (including but not limited

to any images, photographs, animations, video, audio, music, and text incorporated into the Software), the

accompanying printed materials, and any copies of the Software are owned by JAVAD GNSS and its

suppliers. You shall not remove, cover or alter any of JAVAD GNSS's (or its designated suppliers')

copyright, trademark or other proprietary notices placed upon, embedded in or displayed by the Software

or on its packaging and related materials.

The software and documentation are “commercial items” as that term is defined at 48 C.F.R.2.101,

consisting of “commercial computer software” and “commercial computer software documentation” as

such terms are used in 48 C.F.R. 12.212. Consistent with 48 C.F.R. 12.212 and 48 C.F.R. 227.7202-1

through 227.7202-4, all U.S. Government end users acquire the software and documentation with only

those restricted rights as set forth herein.

THE SOFTWARE IS BEING DELIVERED TO YOU “AS IS” AND JAVAD GNSS MAKES NO

WARRANTY AS TO ITS USE OR PERFORMANCE. JAVAD GNSS AND ITS SUPPLIERS DO NOT

WARRANT THE PERFORMANCE OR RESULTS YOU MAY OBTAIN BY USING THE

SOFTWARE. YOU ASSUME THE ENTIRE RISK AS TO RESULTS AND PERFORMANCE OF THE

SOFTWARE. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, JAVAD GNSS

AND ITS SUPPLIERS DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, TERMS, AND CONDITIONS, EITHER

EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, BY STATUTE, COMMON LAW OR OTHERWISE, INCLUDING BUT NOT

JAVAD GNSS HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES, AND

NOTWITHSTANDING ANY FAILURE OF ESSENTIAL PURPOSE OF ANY EXCLUSIVE

REMEDY PROVIDED IN THIS AGREEMENT.

IN NO EVENT SHALL JAVAD GNSS'S TOTAL LIABILITY IN CONNECTION WITH THIS

AGREEMENT AND THE SOFTWARE, WHETHER BASED ON CONTRACT, WARRANTY, TORT

(INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE), STRICT LIABILITY OR OTHERWISE, EXCEED THE AMOUNT

PAID TO JAVAD GNSS FOR USE OF THE SOFTWARE GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, IF ANY.

BECAUSE SOME STATES AND JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OR

LIMITATION OF LIABILITY FOR CONSEQUENTIAL OR INCIDENTAL DAMAGES, THE ABOVE

Termination

Without prejudice as to any other of its rights, JAVAD GNSS may terminate this Agreement immediately

and without notice if you breach any provision of this Agreement or of any other agreement between you

and JAVAD GNSS (including, without limitation, the Terms of Use). Upon termination of this

Agreement, you must destroy all copies of the Software and all of its component parts.

Export Restrictions

You shall not export, directly or indirectly, the Software (or any component part or output thereof) to any

country in violation of any law or regulation, including without limitation any law or regulation of the

U.S. Government or any agency. You are solely responsible for complying with all applicable export and

import regulations and obtaining all necessary export and import licenses or permits for the Software.

You agree to defend, indemnify and hold JAVAD GNSS harmless against any liability (including

attorneys' fees) arising out of your failure to comply with the terms of this paragraph.

General

This Agreement shall be governed by the laws of the State of California and applicable United States

federal law without reference to “conflict of laws” principles or provisions. The United Nations

Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods will not apply to this Agreement.

Jurisdiction and venue of any dispute or court action arising from or related to this Agreement or the

Software shall lie exclusively in or be transferred to the courts of the County of Santa Clara, California,

and/or the United States District Court for the Northern District of California. You hereby consent and

agree not to contest, such jurisdiction, venue and governing law. You may not assign this Agreement in

whole or in part without JAVAD GNSS's prior written consent, and any assignment or transfer in violation

of the foregoing is null and void. JAVAD GNSS reserves all rights not expressly granted by this

Agreement. If any provision of this Agreement is held by a court of competent jurisdiction to be

unenforceable or invalid, it shall not render this Agreement unenforceable or invalid as a whole, and in

such event, such provision shall be interpreted so as to best accomplish the objectives of such

unenforceable or invalid provisions within the limits of applicable law. The failure of JAVAD GNSS to

exercise or enforce any right or provision of this Agreement shall not constitute a waiver of such right or

provision. This Agreement may only be modified in writing by an authorized representative of JAVAD

GNSS. This Agreement, together with the Terms of Use, constitute the entire agreement between you and

JAVAD GNSS relating to the Software and supersede all prior or contemporaneous understandings and

agreements relating to such subject matter whether oral or written. In the event of any conflict between

this Agreement and the Terms of Use with respect to the Software, this Agreement shall control.

Welcome to Giodis™, the full-featured office post-processing software.

1.1. Giodis Purposes and Functions

The Giodis software combines the modern fluent user interface with the established functionality. Giodis

solves wide range of practical surveying tasks using advanced scientific approach. Giodis includes the

• New high-precision post-processing engine

• Un-differenced GPS data vector and network processing based on multi-site and multi-session

algorithms.

1.2.1. System Requirements

Before installing and running Giodis, be sure, that your computer satisfies the following requirements:

• Pentium III-compatible processor or higher;

• Microsoft Windows XP, Vista;

• 1GB RAM minimum. 2GB or more recommended

• 150MB free disk space for the software modules and additional free disk space for maps:

• World Map 3.55 GB;

• USA Map 20.4GB;

• Canada Map 1.19GB.

1.2.2. Installing Giodis

To install the Giodis Software navigate through Giodis Start Window (Figure 1-1):

1. Click Install Giodis and setup wizard starts. Follow the on-screen installation instructions

(Figure 1-2). Click Next to continue, Back to get back to previous step, or Cancel to quit the

installation:

2. Keep the default installation location or select a new location (Figure 1-2):

3. Click Finish to complete the installation.

4. If desired, create a shortcut on the computer’s desktop for quick access to Giodis.

1.2.3. Uninstalling Giodis

To uninstall Giodis use the Giodis Start Window:

1. Click Install Giodis and setup wizard starts. Select Remove Giodis and click Finish (Figure 1-3).

2. Follow the on-screen installation instructions to continue.

1.3. Starting Giodis

You can start Giodis just as you would any software application:

• Double-click on Giodis shortcut on the desktop (if it has been created), or

• Press the Start button in the bottom-left corner of your computer’s screen and select Giodis from

the pull-up menu.

After that the window will appear as shown in Figure 1-4 with a map set by default:

1.4. Closing Giodis

To quit Giodis, select Exit from the Giodis button menu. If the project has not been saved by the time the

program is terminated, the warning appears with the save changes suggestion.

This chapter describes the elements of the Giodis user interface. In general the Giodis user interface is clear

and intuitive understandable. But getting acquainted with the main components of the user interface and its

design concept is the best way to start job in Giodis. In the future it helps users to avoid complexities on

finding needed tools or options and to focus on making their jobs.

2.1. Main Window

After Giodis has been started, the Main window appears. For the first time a default map will be

displayed, as shown on the Figure 1-4 on page 16. If an existing project has been opened, the Main

window looks like is depicted on the Figure 2-1:

2.1.1. Giodis Button

The Giodis button allows accessing the program functions and capabilities. Clicking the Giodis button the

Projects menu opens (Figure 2-2).

•New - Use this item to create new project. Alternatively, you can use the keys Ctrl+N. See

“Creating a Project” on page 23 for detailed information.

•New Encrypted - Use this item to create new encrypted project with password protection. See

“Creating an Encrypted Project” on page 25.

•Open - Use this item to open an existing project. Alternatively, you can use the keys Ctrl+O. See

“Opening an Existing Project” on page 27.

•Save - Saves the current project. Alternatively, you can use the keys Ctrl+S. See “Saving a

Project” on page 28.

•Save as - Saves the current project with new name. Alternatively, you can use F12 key.

•Close - Closes current project. Alternatively, you can use Ctrl+F4. See “Closing a Project” on

page 34.

•Exit - To quit Giodis, select this item. If the project has not been saved by the time the program is

terminated, the warning appears with the save changes suggestion.

•Recent Projects & Catalogs list displays the list of last saved projects and catalogs.

• Delete button allows you to delete unpinned project or catalog from the Recent Projects &

Catalogs list.

•Clear list button allows you to clear the unpinned projects or catalogs from the Recent Projects &

Catalogs list.

The ribbon includes three tabs: Project, Map, and Tools.

Each tab groups commands for activities providing the quickly and easy access to the frequently used

commands.

Project Tab

The Project tab includes all options for project operating. It allows importing the GNSS data (load folder,

load file, download data from GNSS internet archives, import subnets and catalogs), processing,

adjustment, export reports (Figure 2-3)

Map Tab

The Map tab includes all options for map manipulation such as selecting background maps, changing

map scale, panning, zooming, etc. (Figure 2-4)

Tools Tab

The Tools tab includes Coordinate system editor, coordinate conversion calculator, and Mission Planning

tool (Figure 2-5):

The Quick Access Toolbar provides quick access for commonly used commands.

Depending on your needs icons can be added/deleted to/from the Quick Access Toolbar.

If you want to delete an icon from the Quick Access Toolbar, right-click this icon, in the pull-down menu,

select the appropriate options, the icon will be deleted.

You can add one or more Ribbon items to the Quick Access Toolbar. Just right-click the item (for

example, the Pan icon, see Figure 2-7) and in the pull-down menu, select the appropriate option, the

corresponding icon will appear on the Toolbar.

2.1.4. Map and Tab Collection

The Map window with Tab Collection occupies the large area of the Main window (Figure 2-8). This area

is specifically designed as a map unrolled on a table. The map is surrounded with the collection of tabs.

The design goal for Tab Collection is to be at hand.

The Map window gives the graphical view of project elements. Tab Collection displays source data, the

legend, preliminary and final results of data processing.
