Operating safety
GWARNING
You must observe the legal requirements for
the country in which you are currently driving
when operating mobile communications
equipment in the vehicle.
If it is permitted to operate communications
equipment while the vehicle is in motion, you
may only operate such equipment when road
and traffic conditions permit. You may other-
wise be distracted from the traffic conditions,
cause an accident and injure yourself and oth-
ers.
Two-way radios or fax machines without low-
reflection exterior aerials may interfere with
the vehicle electronics and thereby compro-
mise the operational safety of the vehicle and
your safety. Therefore, only use these if they
are properly connected to a separate, low-
reflection exterior aerial.
The telephone module bracket can become
very hot at high outside temperatures.
Do not open or make any modifications to the
telephone module bracket. The operating
permit will otherwise be invalidated.
Qualified specialist workshop
A qualified specialist workshop has the nec-
essary special skills, tools and qualifications
to correctly carry out any necessary work on
your telephone module.
A qualified specialist workshop must perform
any necessary service, maintenance and
repair work as well as all relevant documen-
tation according to Daimler AG specifica-
tions. If these instructions are not taken into
consideration, this may result in the loss of
warranty claims. Have warranty and ex gratia
work done at authorised workshops/Service
Centres.
Mercedes-Benz recommends that you use a
Mercedes-Benz Service Centre.

General notes
This supplement refers to the COMAND and
audio system operating instructions, the vehi-
cle Owner's Manual and the mobile phone
operating instructions. Please have these at
the ready.
If difficulties arise during installation, contact
a qualified specialist workshop (Y page 5).
Mobile phone manufacturers constantly
adapt their mobile phones to the state of the
art in technology. Operating tips are therefore
subject to deviations.
When the vehicle is unlocked, a Bluetooth®
connection between an authorised mobile
phone and the telephone module may be
established automatically.
You cannot make calls using the hands-free
system until COMAND/the audio system is
switched on.
Some changes to the SIM card settings can-
not be made via the telephone module. These
include call divert, toggling and text message
parameters. Changes to these settings must
be made on the mobile phone with the SIM
card inserted, see the separate mobile phone
operating instructions.
