servicetheequipment.Localregulationsmay

restricttheageoftheoperator.

Preparation

•Evaluatetheterraintodeterminewhataccessories

andattachmentsareneededtoproperlyand

safelyperformthejob.Useonlyaccessoriesand

•Wearappropriateclothingincludingsubstantial

slip-resistantfootwear,ahardhat,eyeprotection,

andhearingprotection.Tiebacklonghair.Donot

•Inspecttheareawheretheequipmentistobe

andwirewhichcanbethrownbythemachine.

•Checkthatoperator-presencecontrols,safety

switchesandshieldsareattachedandfunctioning

arefunctioningproperly.

Operation

•Lightningcancausesevereinjuryordeath.If

lightningisseenorthunderisheardinthearea,do

notoperatethemachine;seekshelter.

•Neverrunanengineinanenclosedarea.

•Onlyoperateingoodlight,keepingawayfrom

holesandhiddenhazards.

•EnsurethatalldrivesareinNEUTRALandthatthe

parkingbrakeisengagedbeforestartingengine.

Starttheengineonlyfromtheoperator'sposition.

•Slowdownanduseextracareonhillsides.Be

suretotravelsidetosideonhillsides.Turf

conditionscanaffectthemachine'sstability.Use

cautionwhileoperatingneardrop-offs.

•Slowdownandusecautionwhenmakingturns

andwhenchangingdirectionsonslopes.

•Neverraisethedeckwiththebladesrunning.

•NeveroperatewiththePTOshield,orotherguards

notsecurelyinplace.Ensurethatallinterlocks

areattached,adjustedproperly,andfunctioning

properly.

•Neveroperatewiththedischargedeectorraised,

removedoraltered,unlessusingagrasscatcher.

•Donotchangetheenginegovernorsettingor

overspeedtheengine.

•Stoponlevelground,disengagethedrives,

engagetheparkingbrake(ifprovided),shutoff

Rollover-ProtectionSystem

(ROPS)

•DonotremovetheROPS.

•TheROPSisanintegralandeffectivesafety

device.KeeptheROPSonthemachineanduse

theseatbeltwhenoperatingthemachine.

•Becertainthattheseatbeltcanbereleased

quicklyintheeventofanemergency.

•Checktheareatobemowedwherethereare

slopes,dropoffs,orwater.

•Carefullycheckforoverheadclearances(i.e.,

branches,doorways,electricalwires)before

drivingunderanyobjectsanddonotcontactthem.

•KeeptheROPSinsafeoperatingconditionby

periodicallythoroughlyinspectingfordamageand

keepingallmountingfastenerstight.

•ReplaceadamagedROPS.Donotrepairor

revise.

•AnyalterationstoaROPSmustbeapprovedby

SafeHandlingofFuel

•Allowenginetocoolbeforerefueling.

•Neverrefuelthemachineindoors.

•Neverstorethemachineorfuelcontainerwhere

thereisanopename,spark,orpilotlightsuchas

onawaterheateroronotherappliances.

•Neverllcontainersinsideavehicleoronatruck

ortrailerbedwithaplasticliner.Alwaysplace

containersonthegroundawayfromyourvehicle

beforelling.

•Removeequipmentfromthetruckortrailerand

fuelitontheground.Ifthisisnotpossible,then

refuelsuchequipmentwithaportablecontainer

ratherthanfromafueldispensernozzle.

•Keepthenozzleincontactwiththerimofthefuel

tankorcontaineropeningatalltimesuntilfueling

iscomplete.Donotuseanozzlelockopendevice.

•Iffuelisspilledonclothing,changeclothing

immediately.

•Neveroverllthefueltank.Replacethefuelcap

andtightenitsecurely.

MaintenanceandStorage

•Disengagedrives,setparkingbrake,stopengine

andremovekeyordisconnectspark-plugwire.

Waitforallmovementtostopbeforeadjusting,

cleaningorrepairing.

•Cleangrassanddebrisfromcuttingunit,drives,

mufers,andenginetohelppreventres.Clean

upoilorfuelspillage.

•Lettheenginecoolbeforestoringanddonotstore

nearame.

•Shutoffthefuelwhilestoringortransporting.Do

notstorefuelnearamesordrainindoors.

•Parkthemachineonlevelground.Settheparking

brake.Neverallowuntrainedpersonneltoservice

themachine.

•Usejackstandstosupportcomponentswhen

required.

•Carefullyreleasepressurefromcomponentswith

storedenergy.

•Disconnectthebatteryorremovespark-plug

wirebeforemakinganyrepairs.Disconnect

thenegativeterminalrstandthepositivelast.

Reconnectthepositiverstandnegativelast.

•Usecarewhencheckingblades.Wrapthe

blade(s)orwearthickly-paddedgloves,anduse

cautionwhenservicingthem.Onlyreplaceblades.

Neverstraightenorweldthem.

•Keephandsandfeetawayfrommovingparts.If

possible,donotmakeadjustmentswiththeengine

running.

Hauling

•Usecarewhenloadingorunloadingthemachine

intoatrailerortruck.

•Usefullwidthrampsforloadingmachineinto

trailerortruck.Therampangleshouldnotexceed

•Tiethemachinedownsecurelyusingstraps,

chains,cable,orropes.Bothfrontandrearstraps

•Donotuseethanolblendsoffuel(suchasE15

orE85)withmorethan10%ethanolbyvolume.

Performanceproblemsand/orenginedamagemay

resultwhichmaynotbecoveredunderwarranty.

•Donotusefuelcontainingmethanol.

•Donotstorefueleitherinthefueltankorfuel
