VDO MM 5200 is a 3.6-inch color TFT LCD monitor with a resolution of 320 x 234 pixels. For safety reasons, the driver should not watch TV/DVD or similar when driving.
Please note that it is illegal in certain countries to watch or to operate a TV/DVD or similar device
when driving.

Only use the monitor for its intended purpose.

If an electronic reverse monitoring camera is used, ensure that this does not cause a hazard.
Any damage caused through the use of such systems is the sole responsibility of the driver.

Do not clean using cleaning fluid, alcohol or other solvents. Use only a damp cloth.
Features
The MM 5200 was developed primarily for the high-quality display of navigation images.
Other video sources (e.g. reversing camera RV 5100 or RV 5200) can also be connected. The
compact dimensions facilitate a variety of integration solutions in the driver’s field of vision.
A number of different installation positions can be achieved using the supplied monitor
holder.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

The unit must only be installed by trained personnel.
A
Observe automotive industry quality standards and the relevant local statutory regulations.
It is essential to observe the following when installing components in the passenger
compartment:

Ensure that the driver has a clear all-round view.
A
Increased risk of injury in the event of an accident. Do not install components in the inflation
range of the airbag or in areas where the head may knock against them.
A
Do not damage safety system wiring (airbag etc.). (Lines are normally specially marked, for
example by labels).
A
In order to ensure perfect installation, use only the original components supplied. The use of
non-authorised components may result in malfunction.
A
Do not install the unit in positions where it is exposed to high temperatures, dust, dirt or
excessive vibration (e.g. due to direct sunlight or heating vents).
Scope of delivery
Check the scope of delivery for completeness before starting work. The complete installation
kit contains:
1 MM 5200 monitor
1 6 m connecting cable
1 monitor holder
1 rubber base
2 self-tapping screws
1 double-sided adhesive strip
1 Mounting and operating instructions
Report faulty components to the Service department and notify any damage to the deliverer
(forwarder, package service, post office).
Technical data, design and scope of delivery may vary slightly due to product updating.

Installation options
Connection
Attach the connecting cable of the MM 5200 to the navigation computer output with the
rectangular Mitsumi plug (e.g. PC 5400, PC 5500, PC 5600, PC 5700).
Recommended accessories
Due to its compact housing, the MM 5200 does not have a built-in loudspeaker. The follo

wing optional accessories are recommended for the output of navigation information:
MA 1300 mute relay for playback of the navigation information via the front left vehicle
loudspeaker
ML 5100 external loudspeaker
Compatibility
The MM 5200 is compatible with the PC 5xxx navigation computers.

Removing the monitor
If mounted with the supplied support, the monitor can be
removed from the holder for advanced theft protection.
Press the release button (concealed on the rear of the
monitor connector) and gently pull the monitor upwards.

Do not push on the display screen to avoid damage of the
LCD.
Installing the monitor
Gently slide the monitor onto the support until it clicks into
position.
Adjusting the monitor
If mounted on the supplied support, the monitor can be adjusted to your viewing angle.
Turn the monitor until the best angle of view is reached.
Press the release button on the monitor support to tilt the monitor to its best position.
Switching on / off
The MM 5200 switches itself on and off automatically together with the navigation system
(ignition/ACC).

The red LED indicates operational readiness.
Changing the monitor settings
The MM 5200 provides the following setting options:
Display brightness
Display mirroring (normal, overhead)
Activating setting mode
Remove the remote control from the active holder RCD 5400
(if available).
Press the V and W buttons at the same time.
The ready LED on the monitor blinks to indicate setting mode.
Setting the display brightness
The MM 5200 is equipped with a light sensor, which automatically adjusts the display bright
-
ness to the ambient light conditions.
The basic brightness for automatic brightness control can be set as follows:
Press the 4 or 6 button on the remote control to increase or reduce the set value.
Maximum brightness / switching off automatic brightness control
In situations where automatic control does not provide adequate display brightness, for
example, automatic brightness control can be switched off and the display brightness can be
set to the maximum value.
Set the minimum display brightness using the 4 button.
Press the 4 button again.

Automatic brightness control is switched off and the maximum display brightness is set.
Press the 6 button to reactivate automatic brightness control.

Mirroring the display contents
When the MM 5200 is installed overhead (e.g. holder on the windscreen), the display con

tents can be mirrored on the horizontal axis.
Press the 2 button to mirror the display contents.
Press the 8 button to show the display contents in normal mode again.
Quitting setting mode
When you have made the desired settings, press the OK button on the remote control.

The values set are saved and the MM 5200 returns to normal mode. The ready LED illumi
-
nates continuously again.
Setting mode is quit automatically after 10 seconds if you do not make any settings within
this time.
Troubleshooting
In rare cases, your system may not function the way you expect it to. Before calling the Servi
-
ce department, please read the operating instructions thoroughly and go through the follo
-
wing checklist; it may be possible to quickly remedy an apparent malfunction.
Symptoms Possible cause / remedy
The picture is excessively dark/bright. • Set the desired brightness in the settings menu.
No sound is audible. The MM 5200 does not have a built-in loudspeaker.
• Use the recommended accessories.
The hue of the navigation display appears
“corrupted” or the image rolls (is not
synchronised).
• Activate the “Sync. in green” setting in the “Settings” menu of
the navigation computer.
