Using the microSTATION application installer
ThemicroSTATIONapplicationinstallerwillinstallthe
KORGUSBMIDIDriverToolsandthemicroSTATION
Editor/PlugInEditor.
1. Inserttheincludedaccessorydiscintoyouroptical
discdrive.
Normallythe“microSTATIONApplication
Installerwillstartupautomatically.
Ifyourcomputerissetsotheinstallerdoesnotrun
automatically,doubleclick“KorgSetup.exe”onthe
ac
cessorydisc.
2. Fromthelist,selecttheapplicationsthatyouwant
toinstall,andclick[Install].
Theapplicationsyouselectedwillbegintheinstalla
tionprocess.
IfyouwanttoconnectthemicroSTATIONtoyour
computerviatheUSBport,youmustinstallthe
KorgUSBMIDIDriverTools.Thenfromwithinthe
KorgUS
BMIDIDriverTools,youwillneedto
installtheKorgUSBMIDIdriver.(“Installingthe
KORGUSBMIDIdriveronpage 4)
3. Followtheonscreeninstructionstoinstallthe
software.
Whenyouclickthe[Install]buttonforthemicroS
TATIONEditor/PlugInEditorinstep2,the“micro
ST
ATIONEditor/PlugInEditorInstallerdialog
boxwillappear.
Selectandinstallalldesiredcomponents,suchas,
theEditor(Standalone),PlugInEditor(VST),and/
orPlugInEditor(RTAS).
Forexampleifyouwanttoinstallthestandalone
version,click[InstallStandaloneApplication].
Followtheonscreeninstructionstoproceedwith
theinstallation.
Iftheinstallationwassuccessful,click[Close].
“microSTATIONEditor/PlugInEditorInstaller
willappear.
Nextyouwillinstallthepluginversion(s)thatyou
wanttouse.Usingtheproceduredescribedabove,
beginwithstep1andinstallthepluginversion(s)
thatyouwanttouse.
Ifyoudon’twanttoinstalltheVSTorRTASplugin
version,click[ExitSetup]toendtheinstallation.
Whenyouvefinishedinstallingtheapplication(s)
thatyouwant,click[ExitSetup]toexittheinstaller.

oftware,
exittheinstaller.
Installing the KORG USB-MIDI driver
UsetheKORGUSBMIDIDriverToolstoinstallthe
KORGUSBMIDIdriver.
Beforeyoucontinue,youmustfinishinstallingthe
KORGUSBMIDIDriverToolsinyourcomputer.
1. UseaUSBcabletoconnectyourcomputersUSB
porttothemicroSTATION’sUSBconnector.Then
poweronthemicroSTATION.
Whenyourcomputerfirstdetect
sthatthe
microSTATIONisconnected,theWindowsdefault
driverwillbeinstalledautomatically.However
sincethisdriverisnottheKorgUSBMIDIdriver,
itcannotbeusedcorrectly.
Note:IfyouareusingWindowsXPorWindows
Vista,thedrivermustbeinstalledseparatelyfor
eachUSBport.Ifyouconnectth
emicroSTATIONto
aUSBportusedtoconnectthemicroSTATION
otherthantheportthatyoupreviouslyused,you’ll
needtoinstalltheKORGUSBMIDIdriveragain
usingthesameprocedurelistedabove.
2. Fromthetaskbar,click[Start][All
Programs][KORG][KORGUSBMIDIDriver
Tools][InstallKO
RGUS
BMIDIdevice].
Thesetuputilitywillstart.
3. Followtheonscreeninstructionstoinstallthe
KORGUSBMIDIdriver.
Duringtheinstallation,ifadialogboxregarding
digitalsignaturesappearswithamessagesaying
“....hasnotpassedWindowslogotesting,”simply
click[Continue]toproceed.

Ifyouareunabletoproceedwiththeinstallation,it’s
possiblethatyourcomputerhasbeensettoprohibit
installationofunsigneddrivers.Checkthesettings
ofyourcomputerasdescribedinAllowinginstalla
tionofdriversthatarenotdigitallysigned.”
4. Afteryou’veinstalledtheKORGUSBMIDI
driver,exittheinstaller.
Ifyo
uareaskedwhetheryouwanttorestart,choose
[Yes]torestartyourcomputer.

driver.Proceedasfollowstochangethissettingsothat
you’llbeabletoinstallthedrivers.

microSTATIONitself.
“Local Ctrl” settings
TheMIDIsoftwareonyourcomputermighthavean
EchoBackfunctionwheremessagesthatarereceived
atMIDIIN/USBareretransmittedwithoutchange
fromMIDIOUT/USB.
IfyourMIDIsoftware’sEchoBackisturnedonwhen
themicroSTATIONisbidirectionallyconnectedwith
yourcomputer,themicroSTATION’sinternalsound
generatorwillreceiveduplicatemes
sages(the
internallygeneratedmessagesaswellasthemessages
receivedviaechoback),whichwillcauseproblems
suchaseachnotebeingsoundedtwice.
Insuchcases,youcansolvetheproblembyturningthe
microSTATION’slocalcontrolsettingOffsothatthe
signalrouteisinternallydisconnectedinsi
dethe
microSTATION.
Withthefactorysettings,themicroSTATION’slocal
controlsetting(“LocalCtrl”)isturnedOn.

Note:WhenusingthemicroSTATIONbyitself,leave
thelocalcontrolsetting(“LocalCtrl”)turnedOn.Ifthis
