2. INTRODUCTION AND SAFETY INFORMATION
2.1 INTRODUCTION
This manual has been prepared to serve as a guide to ensure continuous satisfactory service and assist in restoring a valve to
proper working condition.
The safety information, valve features, material selection, storage, installation, operation, and removal of Powell
Resilient Seated Buttery Valves is covered in this manual.
Technical information such as valve dimensions, weights, bolting size and quantities, required torque to operate the valves,
available gear and lever information, and details for ordering can be found in the product catalog.
2.2 SAFETY INFORMATION
The following general safety notices supplement the specic warnings and cautions appearing elsewhere in this manual.
They are recommended precautions that must be understood and applied during operation and maintenance of the
equipment covered herein.
- Always wear eye shields, gloves and overalls. Wear protective footwear and headgear.
- Do not attempt to disassemble a valve while there is pressure in the line. Make sure both upstream and
downstream pressures are relieved. Disassemble with caution in the event all pressures have not been relieved.
- To prevent valve distortion, inecient operation, or early maintenance problems, support piping on each side of
the valve.
- Do not touch surface of valve in a high temperature application.
- Valves are not to be used with unstable uids.
