Operating the Trimmer
Follow these instructions to operate the Line Trimmer.
NOTE: Keep a firm grip with both hands during operation.
1. Plug the trimmer cord into an extension cord approved for outdoor use.
2. Put the shoulder strap (8) over your shoulder opposite side to the unit. Adjust shoulder strap
to most comfortable length.
3. Hold the trimmer with both hands – one hand on the trigger handle and the other hand on the
auxiliary handle.
4. Place the trimmer on the side of your body with the motor behind and away from your body.
5. Press the trigger to start the trimmer. The trimmer will build up speed steadily.
6. Trim grass and weeds in a right-to-left sweeping motion with the line parallel to the ground.
7. To switch off the line trimmer, simply release the trigger.
NOTE: If the machine becomes overloaded, thermal protection inside the unit will cut off the
trimmer. Release the trigger and leave the trimmer for about 10 minutes before turning it ON again.
The trimmer should then restart.
WARNING: After switching off, the nylon cutting line will continue to rotate for a
few seconds. Take care until the line completely stops.
Cutting Tips
Inspect and clear the area to be trimmed for any rocks, broken glass or wire that could be
thrown or become entangled in the cutting line. Trim only when grass or weeds are dry.
Keep the cutting line parallel to the ground.
Cut grass or weeds over 20 cm tall from the top to the bottom in small amounts. This will
prevent grass becoming wrapped around the trimmer head assembly, which may result in
damage due to overheating. If grass becomes wrapped around the trimmer head assembly,
stop the trimmer, unplug it and remove the grass.
Move the trimmer slowly in and out of the area you are cutting, keeping the trimmer at the
desired cutting height.
Use the tip of the line to do the cutting. Do not force the trimmer head assembly into uncut
grass.
The tip of the cutting line will wear during use; this reduces the cutting swath. If the line is not
advanced occasionally, it will wear down to the eyelet. When the trimmer stops, the line tends
to relax and may retract into the trimmer head assembly. Should this occur, unplug the
trimmer, remove the spool, re-feed the line through the eyelets and reassemble the spool.
Avoid hitting objects with the line, such as chain-link fences or concrete, as this causes
rapid wear.
Never drag the trimmer head assembly on the ground while trimming.
WARNING The line trimmer may throw objects during
operation, causing injury to the operator or to bystanders.
Always wear suitable eye protection, boots, gloves and long,
heavy trousers while operating the product.
Advancing the Cutting Line
Follow these steps to advance the cutting line automatically.
This line trimmer uses a standard bump feed system.
Tap the bump knob lightly on the ground while the motor is running. Do not hold the bump
knob on the ground.
To Replace the Line Spool
See Fig 7
Follow these steps to replace the line spool
1. Disconnect the Line Trimmer from the
power source.
2. Hold the spool holder in one hand.
3. Remove the bump knob by turning it
counterclockwise.
4. Remove the empty spool (19).
5. Clean the trimmer head (20) thoroughly.
Inspect the trimmer head for any
damaged or worn parts.
6. Hold the spool so that its tabbed side is
positioned upward.
NOTE: On the new spool, the ends of the lines are secured in slots on tabs.
7. Release the line from the tabs, unwind approximately 15 cm of line and re-secure the lines in
the tabs.
8. Insert the lines on the new spool into the eyelets in the trimmer head.
9. Place the spool on the drive shaft (21).
NOTE: To install the spool, you may need to rotate it slightly to ensure that it is fully seated.
NOTE: If the line should tangle or break at the eyelets, remove the spool, re-feed the line through
the eyelets and reassemble the spool on the trimmer.
10. Release the lines from the tabs by sharply pulling each line while pushing down on the spool.
11. Push down on the spool to reveal the drive shaft.
12. Replace the bump knob on the drive shaft.

MAINTENANCE
Follow these general maintenance guidelines before each use.
Check that all nuts, bolts and screws are securely tightened in order to be sure that the
machine is in a safe working condition.
Frequently check the grass catching devices for signs of wear and deformation.
Only use replacement cutters of the correct type.
For your own safety, replace worn or damaged parts without delay.
Cleaning
IMPORTANT! All maintenance, service and cleaning work must be performed after the power
cord has been disconnected from the socket.
Do not use high-pressure cleaners or running water to clean the product.
Do not use any aggressive cleaning agents.
Remove deposited matter from the protective guard using a brush.
Use a damp rag to wipe dirt marks off of the product.
Dirt and grime can make the switch more difficult to operate as a result of the material that
swirls up off the ground. When this occurs, simply depress the switch a few times, which
should bring it back to normal.
Storage
Electric tools should be kept in a dry place when not in use.
When using electric gardening appliances, basic safety precautions
