Grace Vinylwriter Series
Grace Vinylwriter Series turntables allow you to convert your vinyl records into digital audio files. With its USB connectivity, you can easily connect the turntable to your Mac or PC and begin recording your vinyl collection. The Vinylwriter Series turntables come with Audacity software, which allows you to edit your recordings and export them to MP3 format. You can also use the Vinylwriter Series turntables to listen to your records through your computer's speakers or headphones.

Complete the following STEPS to record from your Vinylwriter using a MAC:
1. Plug your Vinylwriter’s power cord into a power outlet.
2. Connect your Vinylwriter to your MAC using the supplied USB cable.
3. Press the power button on your Vinylwriter.
4. Open ‘System Preferences’ on your MAC:
Applications > System Preferences
5. Under ‘Hardware’ click on ‘Sound’ (icon of speaker)

6. Select ‘Input’ and choose the AK5371 USB device. Name maybe dierent depending on
model of Vinylwriter you have.
7. Close the System Preferences window.
8. Ensure Audacity Software & the Lame MP3 Encoder les have been downloaded and
installed on your computer. The les can be downloaded here:
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/mac
9. Launch Audacity Software from the saved location (commonly saved and accessed
under ‘Applications’).

10. Open Preferences for the Audacity Software under the Audacity Menu.
11. Refer to the ‘Audio I/O tab’ and under ‘Recording’ select ‘AK5371’ (choice may be an
alternate name). If you wish to listen to music while recording check the boxes to the left
of the bottom arrow. Press ‘OK’.

13. Press the RECORD button in the Audacity Software (NOTE: recordings will begin as soon
as you release the RECORDING button). Position the needle on your vinyl record where
you would like the recording to begin.
14. Press the play button on your Vinylwriter. You should see sound waves in Audacity
when the song begins to play.

15. Press the STOP button when you would like the recording to end.
16. Press stop on the Vinylwriter
17. You can edit your recorded track(s) using the Audacity features. Go to:
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/help/ to read tutorials on all the features. You can also
try going to http://www.youtube.com and look for videos tutorials on Audacity.

18. Next click on the ‘File’ menu and select ‘Export As MP3’.
19. Name your le and select the location you wish to save your recorded song.
NOTE: Be aware of your le name and the location of where you save your le. This
le is being saved on the ‘Desktop’.

20. You can edit the ID Tags by adding Title, Artist, Album etc information for each song you
record (these tags will be included when you import the song to your music library).
21. Once you nished adding the tags select ‘OK’. The song will then show up where you
saved the track.

19. Navigate to where you saved your song. Once you have located the le, right click on
the le and select ‘Open With > iTunes.app’.
20. iTunes will start playing your recorded song. If you are having trouble nding your song
in iTunes, click on the ‘Date Added’ tab in iTunes and your song will appear at the top of
the song list.
