Safety Notes
Read all safety warnings and all in-
structions. Failure to follow the
warnings and instructions may re-
sult in electric shock, fire and/or se-
rious injury.
Save these instructions.
f Do not vacuum dust from beech or oak
wood, masonry dust or asbestos. These ma-
terials are considered carcinogenic.
Use the vacuum cleaner only af-
ter having received sufficient
information on the usage of the vacuum clean-
er, the materials to be vacuumed and their safe
disposal. A thorough introduction reduces oper-
ating errors and injuries.
f Children or persons that, owing to their
physical, sensory or mental limitations or to
their lack of experience or knowledge, are
not capable of securely operating the vacu-
um cleaner, may only use this vacuum
cleaner under supervision or after having
been instructed by a responsible person.
Otherwise, there is danger of operating er-
rors and injuries.
The vacuum cleaner is suitable
for vacuuming dry materials
and, by taking suitable measures, also for vac-
uuming liquids. The penetration of liquids in-
creases the risk of an electric shock.
f Do not vacuum inflammable or explosive
fluids; for example, benzene, oil, alcohol,
solvents. Do not vacuum hot or burning
dust. Do not operate the machine in rooms
where the danger of an explosion exists.
The dusts, vapours or fluids can ignite or ex-
plode.
Use the socket only for the pur-
poses specified in of the operat-
ing instructions.
Switch the vacuum cleaner off
immediately as soon as foam or
water comes out, and empty the container.
Otherwise, the vacuum cleaner can become
damaged.
The vacuum cleaner may only
be used and stored indoors.
The penetration of rain or moisture into the vac-
uum cleaner lid increases the risk of an electric
shock.
Clean the float at regular inter-
vals, and check it for damage.
Otherwise, its function can be impaired
(see Fig. 14, page 179).
f When operating the vacuum cleaner in
damp environments, use a residual current
device (RCD). Using a residual current de-
vice (RCD) reduces the risk of an electric
shock.
f Connect the vacuum cleaner to a properly
earthed mains supply. The socket outlet and
the extension cable must have an operative
protective conductor.
f Before each use, check the vacuum cleaner,
cable and plug. Do not use the vacuum
cleaner when defects are detected. Do not
open the vacuum cleaner yourself and have
it repaired only by qualified personnel us-
ing original spare parts. Damaged vacuum
cleaner, cables and plugs increase the risk of
an electric shock.
f Do not drive over, crush or stretch the ca-
ble. Do not pull the cable to unplug the plug
from the socket outlet or to move the vacu-
um cleaner. Damaged cablesincrease the
risk of an electric shock.
f During work breaks, when not in use or
when working on the machine (e. g. chang-
ing tool inserts, repairs, cleaning, adjust-
ments), pull the mains plug. This safety
measure prevents accidental starting of the
vacuum cleaner.
f Provide for good ventilation at the working
place.
f Supervise children. This will ensure that
children do not play with the vacuum clean-
er.
f Have the vacuum cleaner repaired only
through qualified specialists and only using
original spare parts. This ensures that the
safety of your vacuum cleaner is maintained.

f The vacuum cleaner contains materials that
are hazardous to one’s health. Have the
emptying and maintenance, incl. the dispos-
al of dust-collection containers, carried out
only by specialists. Appropriate protective
equipment is required. Do not operate the
vacuum cleaner without the complete filter
system. Otherwise there is danger to your
own health.
f Before restarting, check the proper condi-
tion of the vacuum hose. When doing this,
leave the vacuum hose mounted to the vac-
uum cleaner to avoid dust from coming out.
Otherwise, you could possible inhale dust.
f Do not use the vacuum cleaner as a seat.
The vacuum cleaner could become damaged.
f Use the mains cable and the vacuum hose
carefully. Other persons could be harmed.
f Do not clean the vacuum cleaner with a wa-
ter jet pointed directly at it. The penetration
of water into the vacuum cleaner lid increas-
es the risk of an electric shock.
Products sold in GB only: Your product is fitted
with an BS 1363/A approved electric plug with
internal fuse (ASTA approved to BS 1362).
If the plug is not suitable for your socket outlets,
it should be cut off and an appropriate plug fit-
ted in its place by an authorised customer serv-
ice agent. The replacement plug should have the
same fuse rating as the original plug.
The severed plug must be disposed of to avoid a
possible shock hazard and should never be in-
serted into a mains socket elsewhere.
Products sold in AUS and NZ only: Use a resid-
ual current device (RCD) with a rated residual
current of 30 mA or less.
Additional Safety and Working
Instructions
f Observe the mains voltage! The voltage of
the power source must correspond with the
data on the type plate of the vacuum cleaner.
f For dry vacuuming, a dust bag should be in-
serted. When using a dust bag, the folded
filter remains unclogged longer, the vacu-
uming performance is maintained longer,
and the disposal of dust is made easier.
f Remove the dust bag and empty the con-
tainer before wet vacuuming.
f The vacuum cleaner has a blower function.
Do not blow the outgoing air randomly in
enclosed areas. Use the blower function on-
ly with the a clean hose. Dusts can be haz-
ardous to one’s health.
f After vacuuming, remove the folded filter to
prevent the forming of mould and allow it to
dry thoroughly; especially before using it
for dry vacuuming.
f Operate the vacuum cleaner only with the
folded filter mounted.
f A socket outlet with earthing contact is in-
tegrated in the vacuum cleaner. An external
power tool can be connected there. The
vacuum cleaner is automatically put into op-
eration via the power tool. Observe the
maximal allowable load of the connected
power tool.
f The vacuum cleaner may not be used as a
water pump. The vacuum cleaner is intended
for vacuuming air and water mixtures.
f Wipe out the container from time to time
with a commercially available, non-scouring
cleaning agent, and allow it to dry.

Troubleshooting
f Switch the vacuum cleaner off immediately
as soon as foam or water comes out, and
empty the container. Otherwise, the vacuum
cleaner can become damaged.
f The vacuum cleaner is equipped with a
float. When the maximum filling height is
reached, the suction capacity is reduced.
Set the On/Off switch to position “0” and
empty the container.
f If the suction force is so high that the con-
nected power tool adheres too firmly
against the working surface, regulate the
airflow.
f When the vacuum performance decreases,
activate the semi-automatic filter cleaning.
Maintenance and Cleaning
f For safe and proper working, always keep
the vacuum cleaner and ventilation slots
clean.
A dust-technical inspection is to be carried out
at least once every year by the manufacturer or
an instructed person, e. g. for damage of the fil-
ter, tightness against leakage of the vacuum
cleaner and function of the control/monitoring
unit.
For category L vacuum cleaners that were in
contaminated environments, the exterior as well
as all machine parts should be cleaned or treat-
ed with sealants. When performing maintenance
and repair work, all contaminated components
that cannot be cleaned to satisfactory must be
disposed of. Such components must be dis-
posed of in impermeable plastic bags conform-
ing with the valid regulations for the disposal of
such waste.
For maintenance on behalf of the user, the vac-
uum cleaner must be disassembled, cleaned
and maintained as far as feasible, without caus-
ing a risk for the maintenance personnel or oth-
er persons. Prior to disassembly, the vacuum
cleaner should be cleaned in order to prevent
any risks. The room/enclosure in which the vac-
uum cleaner is disassembled should be well
ventilated. Wear personal protective equipment
during maintenance. After the maintenance, the
maintenance area should be cleaned.
If the vacuum cleaner should fail despite the
care taken in manufacturing and testing proce-
dures, repair should be carried out by an after-
sales service centre for Bosch power tools.
If the replacement of the supply cord is neces-
sary, this has to be done by Bosch or an author-
ized Bosch service agent in order to avoid a safe-
ty hazard.
