This manual is the system setup guide for the SVR-MMF2(FIT) monitoring and control server.

Refer to the supplied hardware setup guide for information about the hardware.

CONTEC F&eIT products are warranted by CONTEC CO., LTD. to be free from defects in material

and workmanship for up to one year from the date of purchase by the original purchaser.

Repair will be free of charge only when this device is returned freight prepaid with a copy of the

original invoice and a Return Merchandise Authorization to the distributor or the CONTEC group

office, from which it was purchased.

This warranty is not applicable for scratches or normal wear, but only for the electronic circuitry and

original products. The warranty is not applicable if the device has been tampered with or damaged

through abuse, mistreatment, neglect, or unreasonable use, or if the original invoice is not included, in

which case repairs will be considered beyond the warranty policy.

How to Obtain Service

For replacement or repair, return the device freight prepaid, with a copy of the original invoice. Please

obtain a Return Merchandise Authorization number (RMA) from the CONTEC group office where you

purchased before returning any product.

* No product will be accepted by CONTEC group without the RMA number.

Liability

The obligation of the warrantor is solely to repair or replace the product. In no event will the

warrantor be liable for any incidental or consequential damages due to such defect or consequences that

arise from inexperienced usage, misuse, or malfunction of this device.

Security Warning

When connecting to the network, be aware of security-related problems. See the examples of Security

measures below and set up the product properly along with the network devices.

- Unauthorized access from the outside through a network could cause the system halt, data damage, or

exposure to malware * 1.

- Invaded and used as a stepping stone, a device might attack the others through networks.

- Information might leak without realizing due to the connection to the network.

- Secondary damages such as harmful rumors, liability in damages, social credibility fall, and

opportunity loss are expected led by the troubles described above.

[Security measures - e.g.]

- Do not keep using the default password. (Refer to the product manual for the password setting).

- Set a strong password.

⇒Combined with upper and lowercase letters, and numbers so that it cannot be easily analogized

by others.

- Change the password periodically.

- Disable unnecessary network services and functions.

- Restrict access to the network with network devices.

- Restrict ports to be released on the network with network devices.

- Create a closed network connection using such as dedicated network or VPN

authentication and encryption.

Unfortunately, there are no perfect ways to avert unauthorized access or close a security hole that are endlessly

strongly recommend a user should constantly update information security measures.

1. System Setup

Setup procedure

The monitoring and control server must be set to a unique IP address that is not used by any of the I/O

Assist server units, I/O controller units, or other devices on your network.

The factory default settings are an IP address of "10.1.1.1" and network mask of "255.0.0.0".

(1) Connect the power supply cable and network cable to the monitoring and control server.

Two different methods are available for connecting the monitoring and control server to a host

controller, and a different cable is used in each case.

- If connecting via a hub, use a straight cable.

- If connecting directly, use a crossed cable.

(2) The monitoring and control server searches the network for I/O Assist server units and I/O

controller units, and collects input data automatically.

(3) You can use a Web browser on the host controller to connect to the monitoring and control server

and display input data.

Set the IP address and network mask of the host controller so that it belongs to the same network as

the monitoring and control server.

Example)

IP address of host controller : 10.1.1.2

Network mask of host controller : 255.0.0.0 can be used.

You will not be able to connect using a Web browser if the IP address and network mask settings

are incorrect.

(4) The procedure for using a Web browser to display input data is described in the "Basic Setup from a

Web Browser" section.

Basic Setup

The monitoring and control server continuously collects the latest data from the devices connected to

the I/O Assist server units and I/O controller units on the network.

You can use a Web browser to connect to the monitoring and control server from a host computer and

create and display monitoring screens.

Basic Setup from a Web Browser

Operating procedure

(1) Start the Web browser and enter the IP address of the monitoring and control server in the address

field of the browser.

Use Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.x or later as the Web browser.

Example) IP address : 10.1.1.1

Enter “http://10.1.1.1/”.

Menu is automatically specified whether to display in “Japanese”, “English” and “Chinese” by the

Web Browser language setup to be used.

(2) The [Main Menu] screen is displayed.

User name “mmf” and password “mmf”is registered at the time of default factory setup

Enter it by using the standard alphanumeric characters

Version information is displayed at the top right.

Select the page to display and then click "Select" to open the monitoring screen.

You can specify or change the size of monitoring pages.

The height and width of monitoring pages are specified in

units of dots.

Remember to click "Apply" after changing any settings.

(6) Defining images for use in monitoring

Display a list of registered files.

Clicking a file name button deletes the associated image file.

You can register image files for use in monitoring screens.

Click "Browse" and select an image file, and then click

upload to register the file.

You can register a remote device to access.

Read enable : Selecting "Enable" indicates that data can be read from the device.

Selecting "Disable" indicates that data is not to be read from the

device.

Write enable : Selecting "Enable" indicates that data can be output to the device.

Selecting "Disable" indicates that data is not to be output to the device.

Device Auto Start : Selecting "Enable" indicates that the device starts automatically.

Selecting "Disable" indicates that the device does not start

automatically.

IP address : You can specify an IP address to access a device (SVR-

IOAxx(FIT)GY, CPU-CAxx(FIT)GY, or similar) that is located on a

different network (on the other side of a router).

Scan Interval(msec) : Specify the interval for accessing the device.

Specify the interval in units of milliseconds (msec).

Click "Set" to save the settings.

Click "Delete" to delete the settings.

The saved settings appear in the list.

I/O Access(read write) : Ο Access is enabled.

× Access is prohibited.

Find : No IP address is set for devices marked as "Auto". This indicates a

device that is detected automatically.

An IP address is set for devices marked as "Manual".

Error count : The count increments each time a communication error occurs.

This normally shows zero.

(8) Creating / displaing task

Click to open the task edit screen.

Display a list of the log data being collected.

You can click a file name button to download the file.

Clicking "DEL" deletes the log file.

IP address subnet mask : Enter the IP address and subnet mask to set for the

network port. The factory default settings are IP

address "10.1.1.1" and subnet mask "255.0.0.0". Click

"Set" to save your settings when finished.

The new settings are not used until the next time the

server is rebooted.

Default gateway IP address : Enter the IP address of the default router. This setting is

mandatory if connecting to (communicating with) a remote

device.

If no router is present, set an (unused) IP address that is not

used by any other host.

These settings are required if a router is present other than the router set as the default gateway in

the network settings. Set the network IP and mask for the remote network.

Click "Set" when you have finished to save the settings.

Lists the routers defined in the setup.

To delete router settings, select the "Select" checkboxes for the routers you want to delete, and then

click "Delete".

If you want to use a dialup connection to an internet service provider via a modem connected to one

of the COM ports, set the "user name" and "password" issued by the internet service provider.

If a DNS is required, enter the IP address of the DNS.

Click "Set" when you have finished entering the settings.

These settings are not required if not using the dialup function.

Specify these settings if you want to use a dialup connection to an internet service provider via a

modem connected to one of the COM ports.

Line speed between PC-modem : Enter a baud rate compatible with the modem specifications.

Unit : bps

Modem initialization characters : Set the modem initialization command. Refer to the

modem's manual.

Call command from modem : Use ATDT if the dialup line uses tone dialing and use ATPT

for pulse dialing. Enter the telephone number of the internet

service provider after ATDT.

Click "Set" when you have finished entering the settings.

These settings are not required if not using the dialup function.

As the SVR-MMF2(FIT) does not have any serial ports itself, a COM-2(FIT)GY (REV.A or later)

module (sold separately) is required.

If stack-connecting a single COM-2(FIT)GY, always set the device ID to "8" and connect the

modem to CH0.

If stack-connecting multiple COM-2(FIT)GY modules, set the device IDs to "8", "9", "A", and "B".

If using a mix of COM-2(FIT)GY and COM-1PD(FIT)GY modules, set the device IDs to "8", "9",

"A", and "B" and connect the modem to CH0 of the COM-2(FIT)GY with device ID = 8.

This adds and deletes users able to access the setup screens (the screens described in this chapter)

from the Web.

The factory default settings are user name "mmf" and password "mmf".

Users can be set to:

"Allow" or "Prohibit" system changes

"Allow" or "Prohibit" monitoring screen and task changes

Click "Set" when you have finished entering the settings.

You can delete a user by entering the user name and clicking "Delete".
