Always be careful when using your LCD TV. To reduce the risk of fire, electrical shock, and other

injuries, keep these safety precautions in mind when installing, using, and

maintaining your machine.

• Read all safety and operating instructions before operating your LCD TV.

• Keep the safety and operating instructions for future reference.

• Heed all warnings on the LCD TV and in the operating instructions.

• Follow all operating and use instructions.

• Unplug the LCD TV from the wall outlet before cleaning. Use a damp cloth; do not use liquid or

aerosol cleaners.

• Never add any attachments and/or equipment without approval of the manufacturer. Such additions

can increase the risk of fire, electric shock, or other personal injury.

• Do not use the LCD TV where contact with or immersion in water is a possibility, such as near bath

tubs, sinks, washing machines, swimming pools, etc.

• Do not place the LCD TV on an unstable cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or

table where it can fall. A falling LCD TV can cause serious injury to a

child or adult, and serious damage to the appliance. Use only with a

cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or table recommended by the manufacturer

or sold with the LCD TV. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions when

mounting the unit, and use a mounting accessory recommended

by the manufacturer. Move the LCD TV and cart with care. Quick

stops, excessive force, and uneven surfaces can make the unit and cart

unsteady and likely to overturn.

•Provide ventilation for the LCD TV. The unit is designed with slots in the cabinet for ventilation to

protect it from overheating. Do not block these openings with any object, and do not place the LCD

TV on a bed, sofa, rug, or other similar surface. Do not place it near a radiator or heat register. If you

place the LCD TV on a rack or bookcase, ensure that there is adequate ventilation and that you’ve

followed the manufacturer’s instructions for mounting.

•Operate your LCD TV only from the type of power source indicated on the marking label.

If you are not sure of the type of power supplied to your home, consult your appliance dealer or

local power company.

• Use only a grounded or polarized outlet. For your safety, this LCD TV is equipped with a polarized

alternating current line plug having one blade wider than the other. This plug will fit into the power

outlet only one way. If you are unable to insert the plug fully into the outlet, try reversing the plug.

If the plug still does not fit, contact your electrician to replace your outlet.

•Protect the power cord. Power supply cords should be routed so that they won’t be walked on or

pinched by objects placed on or against them. Pay particular attention to cords at plugs, convenience

receptacles, and the point where they exit from the unit.

• Unplug the LCD TV from the wall outlet and disconnect the antenna or cable system during a

lightning storm or when left unattended and unused for long periods of time. This will prevent

damage to the unit due to lightning and power-line surges.

•Avoid overhead power lines. An outside antenna system should not be placed in the vicinity of

overhead power lines or other electric light or power circuits or where it can fall into such power

lines or circuits. When installing an outside antenna system, be extremely careful to keep from

touching the power lines or circuits. Contact with such lines can be fatal.

• Do not overload the wall outlet or extension cords. Overloading can result in fire or electric shock.

• Do not insert anything through the openings in the unit, where they can touch dangerous voltage

points or damage parts. Never spill liquid of any kind on the LCD TV.

•Ground outdoor antennas. If an outside antenna or cable

system is connected to the LCD TV, be sure the antenna or

cable system is grounded so as to provide some protection

against voltage surges and built-up static charges. Section 810

of the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA No.70-1984,

provides information about proper grounding of the mast

and supporting structure, grounding of the lead-in wire to

an antenna discharge unit, size of grounding conductors,

location of antenna discharge unit, connection to grounding

electrodes, and requirements for the grounding electrode.

• Do not attempt to service the LCD TV yourself. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel.

Unplug the unit from the wall outlet and refer servicing to qualified service personnel under

the following conditions:

- when the power-supply cord or plug is damaged

- if liquid has been spilled on the unit or if objects have fallen into the unit

- if the LCD TV has been exposed to rain or water

- if the LCD TV does not operate normally by following the operating instructions

- if the LCD TV has been dropped or the cabinet has been damaged

- when the LCD TV exhibits a distinct change in performance

• If you make adjustments yourself, adjust only those controls that are covered by the operating

instructions. Adjusting other controls may result in damage and will often require extensive work by

a qualified technician to restore the LCD TV to normal.

• When replacement parts are required, be sure the service technician uses replacement parts specified

by the manufacturer or those that have the same characteristics as the original part. Unauthorized

substitutions may result in additional damage to the unit.

• Upon completion of any service or repairs to this LCD TV, ask the service technician to

perform safety checks to determine that the TV is in a safe operating condition.

Provided with this monitor is a detachable power supply

cord with IEC320 style terminations. It may be suitable

for connection to any UL Listed personal computer with

similar configuration. Before making the connection, make

Using the Display Ergonomically

● When Using as a Computer Display

• Adjust the LCD screen so that it faces slightly downward from your eyes, and maintain a distance of at

least 15 inches from your eyes to the panel.

• Adjust the illumination as well as the brightness and contrast of the LCD screen so that light reflection is

minimized (300~1000 lux illumination is comfortable for your eyes).

• Recommended computer use time is 6 hours per day or less. Also, taking a break of 10~15 minutes per

hour is recommended.

Keep a consistent distance between your eyes and the key items in your work area (screen, document, key-

board, etc.).

Using an LCD Mounting Arm

Mounting Arm Requirements

You can use a variety of wall mount arms with your LCD TV. However, they must meet the following require-

ments:

● Must comply with VESA Mount Interface 75mm standard.

● Must be able to sustain the weight of the LCD TV.

● Refer to the installation manual supplied with the arm for proper setup.

Mounting Arm Installation

1. Remove all cables connected to the LCD TV.

2. Lay the LCD TV face down on a flat surface with a cushion or some type of soft material to protect

the screen.

3. Using a screwdriver, remove the screws attached to the stand.

4. Follow the directions for your mounting bracket.

Care and Maintenance

Maintenance of the Exterior Cabinet

● Use a soft, dry cloth. If the surfaces are extremely dirty, use a soft cloth lightly moistened with a mild

detergent solution. Do not use strong solvents such as alcohol, benzine, or thinner, as these might

damage the surface of the unit.

● Do not use volatile liquids, such as insecticide spray, near the unit. Do not leave rubber or plastic products

in contact with the unit for a long period of time. They may leave marks on the surface.

Maintenance of the LCD Screen

● To clean the LCD screen, wipe the surface of the panel with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use any liquid cleaner

except those specifically designed for LCD screens.

Best Distance for TV Viewing

● As a rule of thumb, watch TV from a distance of about 5~7 times the screen size to prevent eye strain, in

this case about 7-10 feet.

For Optimal Use

● Since the surface of the screen is fragile, do not scratch or bump it with any hard object (e.g., any object

harder than an HB pencil).

● Do not clean the surface with water.

1 MENU : Brings up the on-screen menu.

2 VOLUME : Increases or decreases the volume. Also use to select the “Return/Menu” item in the on-

screen menu.

3 Standby Light : Lights when unit is in Standby mode.

4 Remote Control Sensor : Point the remote here to control the TV.

5 CHANNEL : Changes channels. Also use to “Move/Adjust” items in the on-screen menu.

6 TV/VIDEO : Selects an external device connected to the TV.

7 POWER : Turns on the TV.

Before Using the TV

Rear Panel Jacks

1 POWER INPUT CONNECTOR: Connect ONLY to the AC adapter supplied with this product.

2 PC VIDEO INPUT JACK: Connect to a PC monitor output.

3 PC AUDIO INPUT JACK: Connect to a PC audio output.

4 COMPONENT/HD VIDEO (Y, Pb, Pr) INPUT JACKS: Connect to a DVD player or a DTV receiver.

5 COMPONENT/HD AUDIO INPUT JACKS: Connect to a DVD player or a DTV receiver.

6 PHONES JACK: Connect to headphones. When you are listening with headphones, the sound

from the speakers is muted.

7 S-VIDEO INPUT JACK: Connect to a DVD player or other component with an S-VIDEO jack

for better picture quality.

8 LINE (VIDEO/AUDIO) INPUT JACK: Connect to a VCR, DVD player or camcorder.

9 ANTENNA INPUT JACK: Connect to an antenna or cable TV jack.

Remote Control

Before Using the TV

1 POWER: Turns the TV on and off.

2 MUTE: Temporarily mutes the sound.

3 LINE: Displays the Composite or S-Video

Input.

4 PC: Displays the PC Input.

5 COMPONENT: Displays the Component Video

Input.

6 NUMBER BUTTONS : Selects channels directly on the TV.

7 100: Selects channels 100 or higher.

For example, to select channel 121,

press “100,” then press “2”, “1.”

8 LAST CH.: Moves to the previous channel.

9 MENU: Displays the OSD menu.

10 VIDEO: Configures various video settings.

11 AUDIO: Configures various audio settings.

12 VOLUME (-/+): Increases or decreases the volume.

13 TV CH+/-: Changes channels.

14 ASPECT: Adjusts the picture size.

15 EXIT: Cancels the current configuration.

16 FREEZE: Freezes a moving picture on the

screen.

17 SOURCE: Selects the signal source for the

PIP window.

18 SOUND: Changes the audio signal source

between the main screen and the

PIP window.

19 SWAP: Changes the video signal source

between the main screen and the

PIP window.

20 POSITION: Selects the location of the PIP

window.

21 PIP CH+/-: Selects the channel of the PIP

window.

22 ON/OFF(PIP): Turns PIP on or off.

23 CAPTION: Turns the Closed Captions display

on or off.

24 MTS/SAP: Selects stereo, mono or Secondary

Audio Program (SAP broadcast).

25 SLEEP: Selects a preset time interval for

automatic shutoff.

26 DISPLAY: Displays the current channel and

the audio-video settings.

Before Using the TV

Installing Batteries in the Remote Control

The remote control does not work properly!

Slide off the cover in the

direction of the arrow.

Install two AAA size

batteries according

to the correct polarity.

batteries aligned correctly?

Using the Remote Control

The remote control works properly in the following range: 20~30 feet from the TV, 10 feet to the left

or right of the TV, and within 30 degrees from the remote control sensor of the TV.

Connecting a VCR or DVD Player

Connecting the Video/S-Video and Audio Jack

Do not connect the Video cable and the S-Video cable at the same time.

You should connect only one cable at a time.

Connection Procedures

Connect the antenna cable to the ANTENNA IN terminal on the back of your VCR.

Connect the VIDEO/AUDIO INPUT jack of the TV and the video/audio output jack of your VCR or DVD

with the video/audio cables (connect the cables to the terminals of the same color).

• You can use the S-Video cable to connect a VCR or a DVD player for better video quality.

• If your VCR does not support stereo sound, connect the mono audio out jack to the AUDIO

INPUT (left) jack.

To watch a video with a VCR (A/V Connection)

Turn the TV on, and select ‘VIDEO’ using the

LINE button on the remote control.

• If you have connected an S-Video cable,

select ‘S-VIDEO’.

Turn the VCR on, insert the tape, and press the

Play button.

Connect the antenna cable to the ANTENNA IN terminal on the back of the VCR.

Connect a coaxial cable between the ANTENNA OUT terminal on the VCR and the antenna

terminal on the TV.

To watch a video with a VCR (RF Connection)

Set the channel select switch on the back of

the VCR to 3 or 4.

Change the TV channel to 3 or 4 according to

your selection of the channel select switch.

Turn the VCR on, insert the tape and press the

Play button.

Connect the COMPONENT/HD INPUT jack on the TV and the component video output jack of your

DTV receiver with the component video connectors (Y, Pb, and Pr).

Connect the left and right COMPONENT/HD AUDIO INPUT jacks of the TV to the component audio

output jack of the DTV receiver using the audio cables.

To watch DTV

Turn the TV on and select ‘DTV’ using the

COMPONENT button on the remote control.

Turn the DTV receiver on and select the desired

channel.

button on the remote control.

Connect the cable TV antenna cable to the antenna input jack of the cable TV receiver.

Connect the VIDEO/AUDIO INPUT jack of the TV and the video/audio output jack of the cable TV

receiver using the video/audio cables (connect the cables to the terminals of the same color).

Turn the TV on, and select 'VIDEO' using the LINE

button on the remote control.

Turn the cable TV receiver on and select the desired

channel using the remote control of the receiver.

Connect the cable TV antenna cable to the ANTENNA IN jack on the back of the cable TV receiver.

Connect a coaxial cable between the ANTENNA INPUT jack of the TV and the antenna output jack

of the cable TV receiver.

Set the channel select switch on the back of the cable

TV receiver to 3 or 4.

Turn the TV on and change the TV channel to 3 or 4

according to the selection of the channel select switch.

Turn the cable TV receiver on and select the

desired channel using the remote control of the

cable TV receiver.
