1 THE KEYS TO YOUR CAR
- There are four buttons on the fob, which release the metal key, switch on the lights for
60 seconds, lock and unlock the car.
- The locking button (B) also has some additional features:
- Deadlocking the car – disconnects the door handles both on the outside and inside as a
security measure.
- Guide Me Home Lights – the headlights remain on for a short time, to help at night.
- ‘Find Mefunction The indicators flash for 10 seconds for locating the car in a busy car park.
- ‘Global closingCloses all the windows and sunroof by pressing and holding the
lock button.

3 LOOKING AROUND THE OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE
BoNNeT
- To release the bonnet, the front passenger door needs to be opened. Then the lever can be seen at
the bottom left of the passenger footwell.
- Remember to check the coolant, oil, screen wash and battery levels frequently.
- Please note, if the bonnet fails to close at first attempt, DO NOT push the bonnet closed
(which could damage it). Re-open and release from a greater height.

3 LOOKING AROUND THE OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE
AUToMATIC FUeL CAP
- The fuel flap is released by pressing a button on the right hand side of the dash.
- There is no cap to unscrew, therefore we recommend you stop filling once the nozzle has cut off the
first time.

TYReS
- The recommended tyre pressures are indicated on a label on the inside of the drivers door frame.

TAILGATe (oN eXCLUSIVe ModeL)
- The vehicle may have an opening rear screen. This gives you easy access to the boot when parked too
close to a wall or to another vehicle.
- There are two separate buttons (A & B) for opening either the entire boot or just the screen.

SPARe WHeeL (eXCePT GRANd C4 PICASSo & eXCLUSIVe ModeLS)
- The spare wheel is stored under the rear end of the vehicle.
- This is a ‘full sized’ spare wheel, or optional space-saver’ spare wheel.

TeMPoRARY PUNCTURe RePAIR KIT (oN eXCLUSIVe ModeL)
- The location of the tool kit and compressor varies between vehicles, dependant on the options fitted.
(Please refer to pages 186 – 189 for more information on the location and usage).
- The kit allows users to repair holes of up to 4mm in diameter (80% of punctures).
(This is a temporary repair, and should be repaired or replaced at a Citroën dealership).
ToRCH (oN VTR+ & eXCLUSIVe ModeLS)
- The boot light, can also be used as a torch which lasts up to 45 minutes using the
rechargeable batteries.
- Automatically recharges whilst driving with the torch in its housing.
- There is an additional bracket (A) on the torch, which allows the torch to be propped up whilst on the
ground, lighting up the wheel bolts when changing a wheel at night.

PNeUMATIC ReAR SUSPeNSIoN (oN eXCLUSIVe ModeL)
- The pneumatic rear suspension enhances driving comfort by maintaining a constant body height
whatever the vehicle load.
- With the car at a standstill, it is possible to manually adjust (raise/lower) the height of the boot sill to
help with the loading and unloading.
Deactivate the pneumatic rear suspension when changing a wheel using the button in the boot.

ModUBoX (oN C4 PICASSo 5 SeAT VTR+ & eXCLUSIVe ModeLS)
- The Modubox is useful for both inside and outside the car.
- It comprises of a shopping trolley and a flexible bag, which can be used independently of each other
depending on your needs.
- No loads in excess of 22kg.

LUGGAGe ReTeNTIoN NeT (oN eXCLUSIVe ModeL)
- On the Grand C4 Picasso there is a high net which can be attached to the roof.
- There are several anchoring points in the boot which can be used to position the net.

THIRd RoW SeATS (oN GRANd C4 PICASSo ModeLS)
- The third row seats are stored under the boot floor.
- To unfold pull strap (A) and to fold back into the boot floor pull strap (B).
- The seat belts for the third row passengers have specific mounting points.
(For more details please refer to pages 119 & 122 of the owners handbook).
- The luggage cover has three different mounting points which can be used in conjunction with the third
row of seats.

FoLdING ReAR SeATS
- The rear seats can be adjusted in a number of different ways using either the straps or the
handles provided.
- They can be folded down.
- They can slide forwards and backwards.
- And have the back rest angle adjusted.
- On the Grand C4 Picasso they also allow for access to the third row seats.
- Please note, do not leave any objects on or under the seat when folding the seat.
- On the back of the Grand C4 Picasso rear seats there are rigid plates, used for bridging the gap between
the folded seats and boot, forming a continuous boot floor.
- The central seat belt on the C4 Picasso 5 seat has a roof-mounted loop which must be used.

ReAR WINdoW BLINdS (oN VTR+ & eXCLUSIVe ModeLS)
- The blinds are stored in the front part of the rear windows and need pulling backwards to close them
on the C4 Picasso.
- On the Grand C4 Picasso, they are positioned in the lower part of the rear windows and need pulling
upwards to close.
- Always guide the blind using the tab, both when opening and closing.

AIRCRAFT STYLe ReAR TABLeS (oN VTR+ & eXCLUSIVe ModeLS)
- Be careful not to put too much pressure or weight onto the tables. The reading light can be switched
on and off independently, but only with the ignition on.
- The rear screens for the optional ‘Entertainment Pack’ can be found behind the tables.

dRIVeR CoNTRoLS
- Before you drive your car, make sure you are fully aware of all the main controls needed whilst driving.

dRIVeR’S SeAT AdJUSTMeNTS
- There are several different adjustments which can be made to the drivers seat, allowing for the most
comfortable position.
(For more details please refer to page 12 of the owners handbook).
STeeRING WHeeL HeIGHT & ReACH
- The steering wheel is adjustable for both the height and reach. The adjuster is on the bottom left of the
steering wheel.

FIXed-CeNTRed CoNTRoLS STeeRING WHeeL
- The benefits of the fixed-centred controls steering wheel are that the drivers airbag can be shaped to
match the human form regardless of the amount of steering lock applied. The following controls can
be used without taking your hands off the steering wheel, and are always in the same position;
A. Audio system controls B. Multifunction display controls
C. Horn d. Cruise control and speed limiter
e. Optional function controls: MyWay phone functions as well as a personalisation and
air recirculation button.

CRUISe CoNTRoL ANd SPeed LIMITeR
- The minimum speed for setting either system is 25mph. The controls are located (D)
to the left of the fixed-centred controls steering wheel.
- REG is for Cruise Control and LIM is the Speed Limiter.
- Cruise Control is designed to maintain one constant speed.
- Speed Limiter is designed not to allow for a speed to be exceeded.

AUToMATIC RAIN SeNSITIVe WINdSCReeN WIPeRS
(oPTIoN oN VTR+ & STANdARd oN eXCLUSIVe ModeLS)
- To activate this function push down on the windscreen wiper stalk.
(For more details please refer to pages 82 & 83 of the owners handbook).
WINdSCReeN WIPeRS ‘MAINTeNANCe PoSITIoN’
- For up to one minute after switching off the ignition, press the windscreen wiper stalk down and the
wipers will move to a vertical position.
- This allows for the screen/wiper blades to be cleaned, changed or positioned for winter parking without
risking damage to the bonnet. Winter parking is leaving the wiper blades off the screen overnight
reducing the risk of frost damage to the blades.

AUToMATIC ILLUMINATIoN oF HeAdLAMPS
(oPTIoN oN VTR+ & STANdARd oN eXCLUSIVe ModeLS)
- Once ‘AUTO’ has been activated, the headlamps will illuminate either when the light levels are low or
if the wipers are activated.
- Please note they do not necessarily respond to foggy conditions. In these types of conditions they
may be switched on manually and may also require the fog lamps.

‘GUIde Me HoMe’ LIGHTING
- Designed to improve the visibility whilst walking away from the vehicle, by keeping the headlamps on
temporarily after switching off the ignition.
- Automatic activation can be set for 15,30 or 60 seconds through the onboard computer menu on
cars with ‘Automatic headlamps’ or manually for 30 seconds for those without, by pulling the lighting
stalk towards the steering wheel within 2 minutes after switching off the engine.

6-SPeed eLeCTRoNIC GeARBoX SYSTeM (eGS)
- This is manual gearbox that has no clutch. The clutch operation is done automatically by the car.
- The benefits of this system are, its fuel saving qualities, low emissions and the ability to be driven in
‘Automatic Mode’ or ‘Manual Mode’.
- The paddles behind the steering wheel are for changing gear manually.
- To start the car, the gear selector needs to be in the N (Neutral) position and brake pedal pressed.
For a smoother gear change, release pressure slightly from the accelerator when changing gear
in A or M mode.

HILL START ASSIST FUNCTIoN
- The Hill Start Assist function holds the vehicle on a gradient greater than 3%, for approximately 2
seconds (the time required to move from the brake pedal to the accelerator).
For the system to be activated, the vehicle must be at a standstill with the brake pedal depressed
Do not get out of the vehicle while it is being held by the Hill Start Assist function.

AUToMATIC eLeCTRIC PARKING BRAKe
- The parking brake button can be found in the centre of the dashboard just above the hazard
warning light.
- The parking brake is automatically released when pulling away and automatically applied when the
engine is switched off.
- It can also be engaged/disengaged manually by pulling the parking brake paddle (A).
- When towing a caravan or stopping on a steep gradient, maximum application is obtained by a long
pull on the paddle (warning lamp P).

PARKING SPACe GAP’ MeASUReMeNT SYSTeM
- Part of the ’Detection Pack’ option, this system measures the space available for parallel parking and
tells you whether the space available is big enough for the car or not.
- In order for it to work, it needs to be switched on by pressing the P button on the fixed-centred controls
steering wheel, the car needs to drive past the space at 12mph or below with the indicator on, no
further away from the parked cars than 1.5m.
The system does not measure spaces under 3 metres and over 8 metres.

INTeRIoR Mood LIGHTING (oN eXCLUSIVe ModeL)
- The brightness of the ambient lighting can be adjusted using the button under the steering wheel on
the left-hand side.
- The door pockets use motion sensors to switch the lights on.

AUToMATIC dooR LoCKING
- Designed for personal safety, the system locks the doors at speeds above 6mph (10km/h).
- It can be deactivated by pressing and holding the padlock button on the dash.
- All doors are unlocked as soon as either an internal door handle is used or an activation of the airbags.

CHILd LoCKS
- This prevents the rear windows and doors from being opened from the rear seats. A warning lamp in the
instrument panel lights up for approximately 10 seconds each time the ignition is switched on.

dooR MIRRoRS
- To activate the heated door mirrors press the rear screen de-icing button.
- The mirrors are also fitted with an ‘Indexingon the Exclusive as part of the ‘Parking Pack’. This feature
lowers the door mirror towards the ground showing the curb, when reverse gear and either mirror has been
selected on the control button.
- The ‘Indexingposition of the mirror can be adjusted.

HeAT ReFLeCTING WINdSCReeN (oPTIoN oN VTR+ & STANdARd oN eXCLUSIVe ModeLS)
- Part of the Comfort Plus Pack’ this can reduce the effect of the sun on the interior air temperature.
- However due to the construction of the screen, it can block signals from electronic devices (e.g. motorway
toll permit). Therefore, for them to work, place the device in the area of the screen (A) either side of the
base of the rearview mirror, which enables transmissions to pass through the screen.
AUToMATIC AIR CoNdITIoNING WITH dUAL-ZoNe TeMPeRATURe SeTTING
(oPTIoN oN VTR+ & STANdARd oN eXCLUSIVe ModeLS)
- The controls for the air conditioning system can be found to the right of the steering wheel for the
drivers controls and to the left of the glove box for the passenger. The driver can also control all
systems for the entire car, including the ‘REST’ button, ‘Black Panel’ button and Air quality sensor.
- Air conditioning is for both cooling and heating the air temperature within the car. Air conditioning
not only cools the air on hot days, but also dries out the air, helping with de-misting the screen on
cold days.

SCeNTed AIR FReSHeNeR
- There is a scented air freshener control knob located in the central section of the dash.
- When changing the cartridge, keep the chrome control button. It isnt supplied with the refills.

WARNING LIGHTS ANd AUdIBLe WARNING SYSTeM FoR UNFASTeNed SeAT BeLTS
- There are seat belt warning lights for the driver, front and three rear passengers which are displayed in the
dash console display, showing the outline of the vehicle and the various seating positions.

ANTI-LoCK BRAKING SYSTeM (ABS) WITH eLeCTRoNIC BRAKeFoRCe
dISTRIBUTIoN (eBd), eMeRGeNCY BRAKe ASSISTANCe (eBA)
eLeCTRoNIC STABILITY PRoGRAM (eSP) WITH TRACTIoN CoNTRoL (ASR)
- The C4 Picasso comes with ABS, EBD EBA and ESP/ASR as standard.
- ABS prevents the wheels from locking when emergency braking, allowing you to steer round an
obstruction (The hazard lights will also be activated to warn other drivers).
- EBD maximizes stopping power.
- EBA applies an immediate maximum brake force.
- ESP is a reactionary system which is designed to keep the car stable in an emergency such as a
quick lane change.
- ASR prevents the wheels from spinning in low traction circumstances.
SWITCHING OFF ESP/ASR SYSTEMS
- In certain exceptional conditions, you may wish to switch the system off by pressing the button,
located on the dashboard.
If the warning lamp flashes then the ESP or ASR have been triggered and are operational.

INTeLLIGeNT TRACTIoN CoNTRoL SYSTeM
(eXCePT oN THe 1.6i 16V AUToMATIC & 2.0Hdi 16V dPFS AUToMATIC)
- This is a system which enables a very significant improvement to driving on snow-covered and
icy surfaces.
- Using snow tyres further improves the effect of using this system, and offers a performance approaching
that of a 4x4 vehicle.
- It can be disconnected using the ESP OFF button.
LANe dePARTURe WARNING SYSTeM
- Part of the ’Detection Pack’ option, uses sensors located in the front bumper to detect when a lane
marking has been crossed (continuous or dotted line) at speeds above 50mph with the indicator not on.
The drivers seat vibrates on the side corresponding to the direction of drift.
- It can be switched on/off as and when required, by using the button to the left of the steering wheel.

AIRBAGS
- The car comes with seven airbags, which includes a front passenger’s airbag which can be disarmed.
The ‘On/Offswitch for the passenger airbag is located on the glove box.

ISoFIX ReAR PASSeNGeR SeAT
- The rear and front passenger seats have ISOFIX points, with top tether points.
(For more details please refer to pages 125 - 128 of the owner’s handbook).

8 OTHER RECOMMENDATIONS
AUdIo SYSTeM WITH RdS FM/AM RAdIo ANd Cd, MP3 PLAYeR
- As well as the standard features of the radio, here are some additional choices which can be made,
such as vehicle settings and radio parameters, changing the display screen, darkening the display
screen for night time driving, Traffic Announcements and playing of MP3 music.

‘MYWAY’ NAVIGATIoN SYSTeM
- This integrated navigation system includes European mapping and live traffic information.
- As well as the usual audio function including the playing of MP3 tunes, the system has a built-in
Bluetooth
®
connection for pairing with mobile phones.

HIGH-PReSSURe WASHING
It is recommended to keep a minimum of 20cm between the high-pressure jet nozzle
and the bodywork.
