Bulletin P-3-CLG
The Series CLG Cryogenic Level Gage uses a flexible
elastomer diaphragm design that provides a simple, accurate,
direct acting, low range differential pressure indicator. The CLG is
a dry gage, as opposed to liquid filled models which may be
damaged or lose accuracy from expansion or contraction when
exposed to temperature shocks, typical in cryogenic applications.
The Series CLG is available with an aluminum, brass, or stainless
steel body, and is perfect for liquid level, line loss, and valve drop
applications.
A flexible elastomer diaphragm and calibrated range spring are
moved by differential pressure. A pair of magnets, coupled with the
diaphragm, transmit this motion through the wall of the pressure
housing to a follower magnet attached to an indicating pointer. The
rotation of the follower magnet causes the pointer to track the
movement of the internal magnet and indicate the differential on
the dial scale.
INSTALLATION
The Series CLG is ready for immediate installation upon receipt.
Use of the following installation procedures should eliminate
potential damage and provide optimum trouble-free operation.
Process Connections: 1/4˝ female NPT are the standard
pressure connections for the Series CLG. There are two
connections on the housing identified as “hi” and “lo” for high
pressure and low pressure, respectively. Be sure these pressure
connections get plumbed to the proper connections on your
system. Improper connection will not damage the instrument, but
it will not function properly. Flexible tubing is recommended to
minimize the effect of possible vibration.
Instrument Position: On liquid service, the CLG dial should be
mounted below the process connections to facilitate self-bleeding.
On gas service, the dial should be mounted above the process
connections to facilitate self-draining. If the process contains
particulate, a “pigtail” loop or drop leg in the tubing will minimize
the possibility of the particulate migrating into the instrument.

LOCATIONS
CAUTION: Due to the magnetic nature of the dial
control of the CLG, be sure not to install the gage in a
high magnetic/electromagnetic environment, i.e. close
proximity to high current power lines.
MAINTENANCE
Upon final installation of the Series CLG Cryogenic Level Gage, no
routine maintenance is required. A periodic check of system
calibration is recommended. The Series CLG is not field
serviceable and should be returned if repair is needed (field repair
should not be attempted and may void warranty). Be sure to
include a brief description of the problem plus any relevant
application notes. Contact customer service to receive a return
goods authorization number before shipping.
