DROP1 Door opener
1.1 Function
The door opener consists of a 'clean relay contact', which can be operated
remotely from any TDK extension. The aim is to enable a door, barrier, etc. to be
operated via a phone extension. For this purpose the door opener is connected to
a private branch exchange. The DROP1 may be used either as end point or in
combination with an external door entry phone. When the door opener is called,
the desired connection is established automatically, after which the user can
operate the relay using a TDK phone.
1.2 Facilities
The door opener has the following facilities:
The DROP1 has a make/break contact to be operated by the user.
The connection can be established by calling the DROP1 (from any extension).
The DROP1 breaks the connection when:
an instruction has been accepted.
11 seconds have elapsed without DTMF codes having been received.
The DROP1 can be used both as an end point and in combination with the
Robin external door entry phone (BDT-I).
The DROP1 is powered from a 220V mains connection and is linked by a two-
core cable to a PABX connection.

1.4 Installation and configuration
The DROP1 is connected by a two-core cable to a device terminal on the
company PABX or the public exchange and with a two-core mains lead to a
220V mains power supply. The user has a make/break contact available for
controlling a door or similar.
Using a jumper the DROP1 can be set to serve as end point or to work together
with an external door entry phone (BDT-I).
1.5 Operation as end point
Call the DROP1 from any (TDK) phone.
The DROP1 answers the call, you will hear nothing.
You can now:
Press '##', to energise the relay for a brief period. The relay remains energised
for as long as the second '#' is pressed, but for at least 2.5 seconds.
Press '#1' to energise the relay permanently.
Press '#0' to release the relay.
Once an instruction has been accepted, or if no DTMF tones are detected within
11 seconds, the DROP1 will break the connection.

1.6 Operation in combination with a BDT-I
Call the BDT-I from any (TDK) phone extension.
The BDT-I answers the call and works as normally.
In addition to the standard BDT-I functions you can now:
Press '##', to energise the relay for a brief period. The relay remains energised
for as long as the second '#' is pressed, but at least 2.5 seconds.
Press '#1' to energise the relay permanently.
Press '#0' to release the relay.
After pressing the first '#' the external door entry phone is disconnected from the
phone line in order to prevent unauthorised operation of the relay via the external
door entry phone.
Once an instruction has been accepted the DROP1 will break the connection.
In other cases the connection will be broken by the external door entry phone.
