OPERATING INSTRUCTIONSSTRUCTIONS
1 Safety
The safety of this appliance corresponds with the
recognised regulations and the legislation covering
the safety of appliances. However, as manufacturers
we also regard it as our responsibility to familiarise
you with the following safety instructions.
Electrical Safety
The new appliance may only be installed and
connected by qualified personnel. Please observe
this instruction, otherwise the warranty will not
cover any damage that may occur.
Repairs to the appliance are only to be carried out
by approved service engineers. Improper repairs
can cause injury or serious malfunction. If your
appliance needs repairing, please contact your
local Service Force Center.
If your appliance malfunctions or fractures,
cracks or splits appear:
switch off all cooking zones,
disconnect the hob from the electricity supply.
Child Safety
The cooking zones will become hot when you
cook. Therefore, always keep small children
away.
The hob should only be operated by adults. Do
not allow children to play near the hob.
Safety During Use
This appliance may only be used for cooking and
frying food in the home. It is not designed for
commercial or industrial purposes.
Take care when plugging electrical appliances
into mains sockets near the hob. Connecting
leads must not come into contact with the hot
surface.
Overheated fats and oils catch fire quickly. You
should supervise cooking when preparing foods
in fat or oil (e.g. chips).
Switch off the cooking zones after use.
Safety When Cleaning
For safety reasons do not clean the appliance
with a steam jet or high pressure cleaner.
Clean the hob in accordance with the cleaning
and care instructions in this manual.
How to avoid damaging your
appliance
Do not use the cooking surface as a work surface
or for storage.
Do not use the cooking zones with empty pans.
Glass ceramic is insensitive to temperature shock
and very robust, however it is not unbreakable. In
particular, pointed and hard objects which drop
onto the cooking surface can damage it.
Do not use pans with damaged bases that are
rough and have burrs. Scratching may occur
when the pans are slid.
Do not place any pans on the cooking surface
frame. Scratching may occur or the paint dam-
aged.
Ensure that liquids containing acids e.g. vinegar,
lemon or limescale removing agents do not make
contact with the hob frame, otherwise matt spots
will result.
Keep all objects and materials which can melt
away from the glass ceramic surface, e.g. alumin-
ium foil or oven foil. If something does melt onto
the glass ceramic surface, it must be removed
immediately.
Avoid boiling pans dry. The bases could be irrep-
arably damaged in the process and the glass
ceramic cooking surface also damaged.
Special instructions for induction
cooking zones.
Scientific examinations have shown that it is not
normally expected that induction cooking zones
can influence or endanger patients with active
implants (heart pacemakers, insulin pumps ...).
However, maintain a minimum distance of 30 cm
between the upper body and the cooking zone.
We recommend that you consult your doctor to
find out about any possible incompatibilities.
Electromagnetic fields can influence electronic
circuits and can interfere with transistor radios.
Do not put magnetically rechargable objects (e.g.
credit cards, cassettes etc.) on the glass ceramic
surface while the induction cooking zone(s) is
(are) in use!
Do not place any metallic objects (e.g. spoons,
pan lids etc.) onto the induction surface, because
these could heat up during operation.
5
General safety instructions
A fan for cooling the electronic components is inte-
grated in this appliance. This fan switches itself on
depending on the registered temperature and has
two speeds which are adapted to the output and
number of the cooking zones in use.
An object with small dimensions such as a fork, a
knife or a ring etc. which is placed on the plate is not
recognised as a pan. The indicator flashes and no
heating output is emitted. The safety system reacts
in the same way when it recognises a pan which is
not suitable for cooking on a ceramic induction hob.
2 Disposalposal
Disposal of Packaging Material
All packaging can be recycled, sheet and hard
foam parts are appropriately marked. Please dis-
pose of packaging material and any old appliance
correctly.
Information on disposal
The appliance must not be disposed of with
household rubbish.
Please contact your local Council or Environmen-
tal Health Office to see if there are facilties in your
area to recycle the appliance.
Warning! Before disposing of old appliances
make them inoperable. Cut off the mains cable.
6
Description of the hob
How your ceramic induction hob works
There is an induction coil under the ceramic cooking
surface. This generates electromagnetic fields,
which act directly on the base of the pots and pans
and not, as with other heating up methods, first heat
up the ceramic glass. This means that the base of
the pan is immediately heated up, which saves
time and energy.
Since the heat required for cooking is generated
directly in the base of the pan the cooking zone itself
hardly warms up. It only receives the reflected heat
from the pan base.
Note:
If there is no pan on the cooking zone, no
energy transfer occurs (heating), thereby
providing absolute safety against acciden-
tal switching-on.

Suitable kitchenware for induction cooking zones
Pots and Pans
In principle all pots and pans with magnetic bases
are suitable. These are steel, steel-enamel as well
as cast-iron pots and pans.
Stainless steel pots with metal mixture bases
(sandwiches basis e.g. Tefal with aluminium /
copper base) are only suitable for induction if the
manufacturer expressly specifies this. In that case
they have a ferromagnetic percentage in the
base. If you want to use a pan with a non-stick
coating (for example with a Teflon coating) so as
to cook without fats, do not select the booster
function "P" for this pan.
Pots and pans made of aluminium, copper, brass,
stainless steel (unless specifically stated as being
suitable for induction), glass, ceramics or porce-
lain are not suitable for induction cooking fields.
The cooking zone behaves as if it was operated
without pans and the symbol
F is flashing in the
display.
Look for the label: Suitable for induction!
Lift up the pans if you want to move them so that the
drips do not leave any traces or even scratches.
Suitability test
If you are not sure whether a pot / pan is suitable for
cooking / frying on the induction cooking zone, you
can check it as follows:
Place a pot filled with a little water (3-5 mm filling
height) on the cooking zone.
Switch the cooking zone to full power (switch set-
ting 9).
Caution: The pan base of suitable kitchenware
heats up within a few seconds!
You can also check this with a magnet. If it sticks
to the base, the vessel is suitable for the induc-
tion cooking zone.
Pan size
It is basically possible to use a pan which is smaller
than the cooking zone marked on the glass ceramic
surface. However, the pan base diameter must be of
a minimum size, depending on the cooking zone
size.
Nevertheless, so as to avoid energy losses, we rec-
ommend that you use pans, the base diameter of
which correspond to the diameter of the induction
cooking zone.
Note:
Please pay attention to the pan base diameter when
buying it, as the pan manufacturer mostly states the
upper edge diameter. For example:

matic function is ended immediately. If you
start cooking again on a cooking zone that is
still warm, the automatic warm up function
uses the residual heat. This saves time and
energy.
If the pan is removed from the cooking zone
during the heating-up boost, the heating-up
boost is interrupted until a pan is put back
down (if the interruption does not last longer
than 10 minutes).

P.
After 10 minutes, the power is automatically
switched back to the stage "9"
P is no longer dis-
played.
The Power function can be interrupted as follows:
Press the key "P".
Press the key - .
This power increase with the Power function is only
possible because part of the output is diverted to the
other cooking zones at the back. As soon as the
power function of the front right cooking zone is acti-
vated, a maximum of the heating power stage can
be obtained for the rear left cooking zone. As soon
as the power function of the front left cooking zone is
activated, a maximum of the heating power stage
can be obtained for the rear right cooking zone. In
this case, although the stage "9" can be set for both
rear cooking zones, the display jumps back to "8" or
"7" and flashes. After the end of the Power function,
the rear cooking zones switch back to the stage "9"
if this was previously selected.

Cleaning And Care
Advantages for cleaning and caring
for the induction cooking zone
2
The cleaning effort for induction glass
ceramic cooking surfaces is considerably
less than for cooking surfaces with radiant
heating:
The induction cooking zone reacts faster to
switching down and off. Boiling over and
burning in of dishes is avoided to a large
degree.
The temperatures on the glass ceramic sur-
face are significantly lower in the case of
inductive cooking than is the case with stand-
ard radiation heaters.
Since the heat is generated in the pan, food or food-
stuffs possibly on the glass ceramic surface are not
burnt in as badly.
1
It is important to clean the cooking surface
after every use!
Important! Never use aggressive cleaning
agents such as, for example, coarse scour-
ing cleaners or pan cleaners that scratch.
Always clean the cooking surface when it is only a lit-
tle dirty. Use a damp cloth and a little washing up liq-
uid. Then rub the cooking surface dry with a clean
cloth. Remnants of cleaner must not be left on the
surface.
Clean the entire cooking surface thoroughly once a
week. To do this, use "Stahl-Fix" or "Vitroclen". Then
rinse the entire cooking surface with plain water and
rub it dry with a clean cloth.
Please ensure that no residues (cleaning agents)
remain on the surface. Otherwise the cooking sur-
face will be damaged!
Stubborn Soilage
Residues from food that has boiled
over
First soften these using a wet cloth and then remove
residues using a glass or razor blade scraper.
Caution! Take care not hurt yourself!
Then clean the cooking surface with the cleaners
identified above.
3
Suitable cleaning and care agents and also
glass scrapers are available from Zanussi
customer service.
13
Remove burned-in sugar and melted plastic immedi-
ately – while it is still warm (not hot) – with a glass
scraper. Otherwise, damage can occur. Next, clean
the cooking field normally. Damage caused by sugar
or food containing sugar can be prevented by caring
for the cooking surface with Collo-Profi or Cerafix.
Spots
Limescale stains, mother-of-pearl-like shiny stains,
metallic iridiscent discolourations, pan abrasions
that have formed during cooking can be removed
best while the cooking zones are still warm. Use one
of the cleaners mentioned above. If necessary, clean
more than once.
1
Attention!
Do not put vinegar, citric acid (lemon juice)
or scale removers on the hob frame, they will
make the surface matt.
Sand grains which have fallen onto the cooking field
can cause scratches when pans are moved. There-
fore, ensure that no sand grains remain on the cook-
ing field.
Abraded décor
If aggressive cleaners or pans with abrasive bases
are used, then the decor will take on an abraded
appearance and dark spots will appear over time.
14
What to do if ...
If the hob does not function correctly, please carry out the following checks as it may be something you can
remedy yourself.
When the cooking field is damaged (glass fractures, cracks, breakages) or the set operational fault is not listed
in the list above, immediately disconnect the appliance from the mains and contact your local Zanussi Service
Force Center.
In-guarantee customers should ensure that the above checks have been made as the engineer will make a
charge if the fault is not a mechanical or electrical breakdown.
Please note that proof of purchase is required for any in-guarantee service calls.
Symptoms Solutions
Humming noise
Certain pans can cause slight humming. This in no way impairs the
function of the cooking field.
Colour changes occur on the hob.
This is not a change in the material. Rather, it is burned-in residues
which were not removed regularly. They have no influence on the
function and the durability of glass ceramic surfaces.
The cooking zones do not function.
Ensure:
That the fuses are in order.
That the hob is switched on.
That the cooking zone is switched on.
That the cooking zones are not locked.
That the heating power is set.
That the pan is suitable for induction.
The cooking zones cannot be
switched on.
Ensure:
That the hob is not locked.
That the 10 seconds (between the moment in which you should
press the Start/Stop button and the moment in which you would
select a cooking zone) has not elapsed.
That you press the key correctly (over the entire key diameter).
That certain keys are not accidentally covered (by a cloth etc.).
That the hob was not prematurely switched off by a current inter-
ruption.
Only the residual temperature dis-
play "H" appears in the displays.
Ensure:
That the On/Off key was not pressed.
That certain keys are not accidentally covered (by a cloth etc.).
The displays have gone out.
Ensure:
That the power supply is not interrupted.
After the hob is switched off, the
residual heat indicator "H" in the dis-
play does not switch itself on.
If the cooking zone was not switched on for long enough so that a
temperature of 60°C to be released and the residual heat display
could switch itself on.
When the cooking zone is hot enough (above 60°C) and "H" is not
indicated, inform your local Service Force Center.
One of the cooking zones cannot be
switched off.
Ensure:
That certain keys are not accidentally covered (by a cloth etc.).
That the cooking zone concerned really is switched on.
