1 General Aspects
These operating instructions contain fundamental instructions. These must be observed in operation and
maintenance. For this reason, these operating instructions must be read by operating personnel before
commissioning and use, and must be available for easy reference.
Follow both the general safety instructions contained in the section on safety and the specific safety instructions
contained in the other sections.
1.1 Purpose
The self-propelled forage harvester BiG X is used to harvest and chop blades and leaves, maize and similar crops,
when provided with front attachments in the works of the manufacturer.

Vehicle frame number
The vehicle frame number is located in the wheel well
of the right rear wheel.
1.2.5 Information for enquiries and orders
When asking questions concerning the machine or
ordering spare parts, be sure to provide type
designation, vehicle ID number and the year of
construction.
Original spare parts and accessories
authorised by the manufacturer ensure
safe use. Use of other parts may void
the liability for any resulting damage.
1.2.6 Intended Use
The self-propelled forage harvester "BiG X" is intended
exclusively for the conventional use in agricultural or
similar work (intended use).
Any use of the machine for other purposes is deemed
not to be in accordance with specifications. The manu-
facturer shall not be liable for any resulting damage; the
user alone shall bear the risk.
Use as intended includes compliance with the operating,
maintenance and repair conditions specified by the manu-
facturer.
If unauthorised modifications are made to the machine,
the manufacturer is released from liability for any result-
ing damage.

1.2.7 Service life of the machine
• The service life of this machine strongly depends
on proper use and maintenance as well as the
operating conditions.
• Permanent operational readiness as well as long
service life of the machine can be achieved by
observing the instructions and notes of these
operating instructions.
• After each season of use, the machine must be
checked thoroughly for wear and other damage.
• Damaged and worn parts must be replaced before
placing the machine into service again.
• After the machine has been used for five years,
carry out full technical inspection of the machine.
According to the results of this inspection, a
decision concerning the possibility of reuse of the
machine should be taken.
• Theoretically, the service life of this machine is
unlimited as all worn or damaged parts can be
replaced.

10 Channel support
Crops are taken up by a pickup or maize header (see
Attachments in the "General" chapter) and directed to
the feed drive and pre-compression rollers.
The corn conditioner, which is installed in the crop flow
for the maize crops, strikes the grains contained in the
crops to improve the digestibility of the forage.
The feed drive and pre-compression rollers compact
the forage and direct it to the chopping drum. The
machine is equipped with metal detection to protect the
chopping drum and animals against metal parts.
The cutters (1) with the blocked counterblade (2)
arranged on the chopping drum chop the crops. The
cutting lengths are adjustable.
Blades are ground by a grinding stone positioned over
the chopping drum.
1.3.3 Mode of operation of the machine
BX750037
1
2
General Aspects
I - 5
1.3.4 Method of operation of brake main
drive
To reduce the coast down time of the chopping drum,
the main drive is equipped with a hydraulically
controlled brake (1).
If the chopping drum is turned off in field mode, the
engine brakes from full speed to the nominal speed of
1100 rpm. Then the brake main drive is automatically
activated and brakes the chopping drum to a complete
stop in a short time. After max. 10 sec. the entire crop
flow stops.
1
BX500060
After the chopping drum, a discharge accelerator is
installed which ensures additional acceleration for the
crops. The discharge accelerator is equipped with an
adjustable rear wall to change the discharge distance
of crops as they are discharged.
The discharge chute conveys crops accurately onto
the transport vehicle.
1.3.5 300 l Silage tank (optional)
The silage tank (1) including pump unit for rough dosing
of silage agent is mounted on the right mudguard of the
machine. The fill level can be read on the fill level
indicator (2) on the tank or in the terminal.
The system is operated by means the terminal (see
appendix A-1).
