solenoidvalvelocatedonthewaterlinetothecondenser,whichratesthecoolingwatertothe
condenser.OnUCG165watercooledversionstheheadpressureisconstantat9.5bar(135psig)
controlledbyawaterregulatingvalve.
Atstartingoffreezingcycletherefrigerantsuctionorlo‐pressurelowersrapidlyto1.0bar‐14psigthen
itdeclinesgradually‐inrelationwiththegrowingoftheicethickness‐toreach,attheendofthecycle,
approx.00.1bar‐01.5psigonthemodelsUCG45/65/85and0.85and0.20.3bar(34psig)on
modelsUCG105/135/165withthecubesfullyformedinthecupmolds.Thetotallengthofthefreezing
cyclerangesfrom23to25minutes.

Thewaterfillingthesump/reservoirforcespartofthesurpluswaterfromthepreviousfreezingcycle
togoouttothedrainthroughtheoverflowpipe.Thisoverflowlimitsthelevelofthesumpwater
whichwillbeusedtoproducethenextbatchoficecubes
Meanwhiletherefrigerant,ashotgasdischargedfromthecompressor,flowsthroughthehotgasvalve
directlyintotheevaporatorserpentineby‐passingthecondenser.
Thehotgascirculatingintotheserpentineoftheevaporatorwarmsupthecoppermoldscausingthe
harvestoftheicecubes.Theicecubes,releasedfromthecups,dropbygravityontoaslantedcube
deflector,thenthroughacurtainedopeningtheyfallintothestoragebin.
