1. IMPORTANT REMARK
Congratulations! You are the owner of a carefully designed and manufactured equipment.
We thank you for trusting in us and choosing our AWAK Series loudspeaker cabinets.
In order to get the optimum operation and efficiency from this unit, it is VERY IMPORTANT
- before you plug anything - to read this manual very carefully and bear in mind all considerations
specified within it. We strongly recommend that its maintenance be carried out by our Authorised
Technical services.
2. WARNINGS
No user serviceable parts exist inside these units.
Never use this unit in the proximity of water. Do not expose the unit to water splashing, nor
place liquid containers on top of it.
Avoid placing the unit next to heat sources such as spotlights or heaters.
Use only the accessories specified by the manufacturer. The units must never be flown
from their transportation handles. Use the correct accessories for each application.
3. INTRODUCTION
These acoustic enclosures have been designed to offer a wide range of applications:
Starting with conference rooms where superior intelligibility is required or outdoor installations like
mobile discos. These situations require an excellent sound projection, large sound pressure and
operating safety. All models employ bass-reflex type acoustic enclosures and have been optimised
using the acoustic design software SIMBOX.
High density wood fibres have been used in the fabrication process. All models feature a
1mm thick perforated grating and acoustically transparent foam, effectively protecting the unit from
splashings and dust. The LC-type passive filters inside the AWAK series make use of low tolerance
polyester capacitors and large section coils. All units feature an effective protection system on the
high frequency way against Larsen effect and signal clipping. The connection plates are equipped
with speak-on connectors.
4. MODELS
AWAK108i
Employs an 8” high performance bass driver with polypropylene membrane, capable of
holding up to large cone displacements. This 8” driver is firmly mounted on a steel chassis and
features a powerful ceramic magnet and a 52 mm coil. A 1” tweeter provides the high frequencies.
AWAK208i
Employs two 8” high performance bass driver with polypropylene membrane, capable of
holding up to large cone displacements. This 8” driver is firmly mounted on a steel chassis and
features a powerful ceramic magnet and a 52 mm coil. The high frequency way uses 1” high
efficiency compression driver coupled to a 90ºx60º rotatable horn (See diagram).
5
AWAK112i
Employs a 12'' driver with a powerful ceramic magnet and a 77 mm coil, supporting cone
displacements up to 7 mm. The high frequency way uses high efficiency compression driver with 1''
nylon membrane coupled to a constant directivity horn.
AWAK115i
Employs a 15'' driver with a powerful ceramic magnet and a 100 mm coil, supporting cone
displacements up to 9 mm. The high frequency way uses high efficiency compression driver with 1''
nylon membrane coupled to a constant directivity horn.
AWAK215i
Employs two 15'' drivers with a powerful ceramic magnet and a 100 mm coil, supporting
cone displacements up to 9 mm. The high frequency way uses high efficiency neodymium
compression driver with 1'' polyester membrane coupled to a constant directivity horn.
AWAK SB115i
Sub bass reinforcement to complement the models AWAK 108 and AWAK112. Employs a
15'' driver with a powerful ceramic magnet and a 100 mm coil, supporting cone displacements up to
9 mm.
AWAK SB118i
Sub bass reinforcement specially designed to complement the models AWAK112, 115
and 215. the System employs a powerful 18'' driver with ceramic magnet and a 100 mm coil,
supporting cone displacements up to 9 mm.
5. CONNECTIONS
The connection cables which connect the amplifiers output and the speaker should be of
good quality, have sufficient conductor area and be as short as possible. The latter fact is specially
important when the distance is long and the load impedance low (4-8 ). A cross-section of at least
2.5mm
2
is recommended for distances up to 10m; 4 or 6mm
2
for longer distances. Following formula
gives the required section, assuming 4% losses:
Length in m
Cross section in mm
2
= 
Loudspeaker Impedance in
Always respect polarity. All connections are Speak-on type. The pin-out is indicated in the
diagram.

6. RECOMMENDED AMPLIFIER
Following table shows the output power of the amplifier adequate to each acoustic system:
AWAK108i between 150 and 300W
AWAK208i between 250 and 550W
AWAK112i between 350 and 700W
AWAK115i between 450 and 900W
AWAK215i between 1000 and 2000W
AWAK SB115i between 400 and 800W
AWAK SB118i between 500 and 1000W
7. PRE-AMPLIFYING MIXERS
Avoid excessive gain adjustments in the equalizer or tone control sections.
8. PLACEMENT AND MOUNTING
Consider following general rules:
Place the acoustic enclosures on solid and firm surfaces. The Sub bass speakers will
prove more effective if placed on the floor horizontally, instead of flying, elevating or placing the unit
vertically. No obstacles should stand between the enclosures and the audience. The high
frequencies are very directive compared to the low frequencies, so that any obstacle will impair their
response. In case large audiences must be addressed, a better long distance sound propagation will
be achieved if the enclosures are flown high enough.
9. SUSPENDING THE UNIT
During the development of the AWAK series, we have carefully studied for each model the
best method to fly the enclosure.
For the model 108 we recommend the SR 10 rigging type, which allows for a total
orientation of the enclosure (see diagram).
For the model 208 we recommend the SR 10/12 rigging type, which allows for a total
orientation of the enclosure (see diagram).
For the model 112 and 115 we recommend the SR 12 rigging type (see diagram).
Models 108, 208, 112 and 115 feature built in nuts for the installation of screw hooks to
facilitate the fixing of chains or steel cables (see diagram).
Least, model 215 features two lateral and one rear bracket, which allow the insertion of
ECLERs FL200 rigging kit (see diagram).
When using SR10 or SR12 fixings, an additional safety cable must be attached.
The units must never be flown from their transportation handles.
