Identification of the valve:
NOTE: This mounting guide covers
EV220T variants with threaded or
hose outlet.
Valve type, code number, production
date (wwy; eg. 372 / ‘week 37, year
2012’) and country of origin is
printed on the valve armature tube.
Mounting the valve:
1. Clean the pipe system before
mounting the valve and make
sure it is properly aligned.
2. Make sure that the application
pressure does not exceed 10 bar.
3a+ Danfoss recommends mounting
3b. a filter in front of the valve or
using the available built-in filter.
This will prevent impurities from
entering the valve and causing
functional problems or damage.
4. The valve can be mounted at
any angle.
5. The arrows on the valve body
must point in the direction of
the flow. The arrows can be
found on the side, bottom and
top of the valve body.
6a. If needed the valve can be
mounted using the supplied
bracket. The flat surface of the
bracket must face the inlet and
pressed into the groove until it
clicks. Mount in any 90 degree
angle.
6b. Using two M4 screws (not sup-
plied) the valve can be mounted
onto a plate or similar. The
screws may not extend more
than 5 mm on the backside of
the bracket.
7. Use counterforce when tighten-
ing the pipe connection, i.e. use
a wrench on both the valve
body and the pipe connection
(max. 25 Nm). It is recommended
to compress a rubber seal
against the end of the thread
connection. Alternatively it may
be assembled using a pipe joint
sealing compound.
NOTE: Do not use a tapered
thread.
7a. On variants with hose outlet:
Use only hoses which fit tightly
on the hose connection (3/4”)
and use a steel clamp or similar
to safely tighten and secure the
hose.
8. Do not apply forces to the arma-
ture tube or use it as a lever
when mounting the valve.
9a. On variants with threaded
outlet: It is recommended to
mount the valve near bends as
thermal expansion of the pipes
may stress the valve.
9b. The pipes on both sides of the
valve must be securely fastened.
Mounting the coil:
You can only use AM or AP coils on
EV220T polymer valves. To connect
power to the coil, use Danfoss power
connector 042N0156, or a similar
DIN connector.
1a. Mount leads in the DIN plug to
match the pins as shown in the
picture.
Earth has to be mounted on the
flat pin.
NOTE: The valve body can NOT
be used as a leader to ground
the coil through the piping
system.
1b. Mount the coil, washer and nut
as shown. The nut can be hand
tightened.
2. The cable has to be mounted as
shown in the picture. This pre-
vents water from seeping into
the cable fitting.
2
Coil replacement:
1. Disconnect the coil from the
power supply before removing it
from the valve. Failure to discon-
nect the power will cause the coil
to overheat and thereby be
damaged.
2. Remove the nut and washer to
dismount the coil.
Trouble shooting
Failure: The valve does not open.
Possible cause:
The differential pressure may be
too high.
Dirt particles may be blocking
the armature (2) or the pilot
nozzle (3).
The coil could be mounted -or
connected incorrectly.
Failure: The valve does not close.
Possible cause:
The small equalizing hole (1) in
the diaphragm may be blocked
by particles.
The valve may be mounted back-
wards. Check to be sure that the
arrow on the valve body is
pointing in the direction of the
flow.
Leak: Dirt may be preventing the
diaphragm from sealing properly
against the orifice.
Reduced flow: The filter may be
blocked. Check and clean the filter.
Caution: Do not disassemble the
valve cover or armature tube.

function of internal components or
