DRIVER ASSISTANCE SYSTEMS
♦
Lane Departure Warning/Lane Keep Assist – May help avoid
crashes due to unintentional lane departures. e
is green if
the system is available to assist. It may assist by gently turning the
steering wheel and display an amber
if the vehicle approaches a
detected lane marking without using a turn signal in that direction.
If active driver steering is not detected, the amber
may ash
and the Safety Alert Seat may pulse three times on the side of the
departure direction as the lane marking is crossed.
To turn the system on or o, press the
Lane Keep Assist
buon on the steering wheel.
Front Pedestrian Braking – During daytime driving, the system
detects pedestrians directly ahead up to a distance of approxi-
mately 131 . and displays an amber
indicator. When approach-
ing a detected pedestrian too quickly, a visual alert ashes on
the windshield and the Safety Alert Seat pulses. e system may
prepare the brakes or automatically brake the vehicle.
To set the system to Alert and Brake, Alert, or O, go to Seings
> Vehicle > Collision/Detection Systems > Front Pedestrian
Detection.
Night Vision – A thermal heat image of the view ahead displays
on the instrument cluster when it is dark outside. An amber indi
-
cator displays when a pedestrian or animal is detected and a red
alert displays on the HUD and the Safety Alert Seat pulses when
approaching a pedestrian too quickly.
e system is turned on/o along with Front Pedestrian
Braking. Go to Seings > Vehicle > Collision/Detection Systems
> Front Pedestrian Detection.
See Driving and Operating in your Owner Manual.
e driver assistance systems use advanced technologies to help avoid collisions by providing visual, audible and/or tactile (vibration) alerts.
Safety Alert Seat
– e driver’s seat pulses — le side, right side
or simultaneously — to alert the driver of potential hazards.
Audible alerts may be selected instead of Safety Alert Seat
pulsing alerts. To change the alert seings, go to Seings >
Vehicle > Collision/Detection Systems > Alert Type.
Forward Collision Alert – e Vehicle Ahead indicator is green
on the instrument cluster when a vehicle is detected and is amber
when following a vehicle ahead much too closely. When approach
-
ing a vehicle directly ahead too rapidly, a red alert ashes on the
windshield and the Safety Alert Seat pulses.
Press the
Collision Alert buon on the steering wheel to set
the alert timing to Far, Medium, or Near.
Front Automatic Braking – e brakes may be applied in potential
collision situations to help reduce damage or help avoid collisions
with vehicles directly ahead.
To set the Forward Collision Alert and Front Automatic Braking
systems to Alert and Brake, Alert, or O, go to Seings > Vehicle
> Collision/Detection Systems > Auto Collision Preparation.
Side Blind Zone Alert/Lane Change Alert – While driving, the
system displays a
warning symbol on the le or right side
mirror when a vehicle is detected in that side blind zone area or
rapidly approaching that area. e warning symbol ashes if a turn
signal is activated when a vehicle has been detected.
To turn the system on or o, go to Seings > Vehicle > Collision/
Detection Systems > Lane Change Alert.
