Please observe the following instructions:
z When working on the following supply lines, only use insulated cable lugs, plugs and
tab sleeves.
– 30 (direct supply from positive battery terminal),
– 15 (connected positive terminal, behind the battery),
– 31 (return line from the battery, earth),
– L (indicator lights left),
– R (indicator lights right).
Do not use porcelain insulating clamps.
z Use a crimping tool to connect the cables.
For connections which are intended to be permanent, you can solder the cable ends
together and then insulate them.
z When connecting to supply line 31 (earth)
– Screw the cable to the cable lug and gear disc to the vehicle's earth bolt or
– With a cable lug and a self-tapping screw to the bodywork sheet metal.
Ensure that there is a good earth connection.
When the negative terminal of the battery is disconnected, all volatile memories in the
convenience electronics lose the stored data.
z The following data must be set again, depending on vehicle equipment:
– Radio code
– Vehicle clock
–Timer
– On-board computer
– Seat position
You can find instructions for making these settings in the appropriate operating
instructions.
Observe the following instructions during installation:
z Secure the parts of the rear view system installed in the vehicle in such a way that
they cannot become loose under any circumstances (sudden braking, accidents) and
cause injuries to the occupants of the vehicle.
z Do not attach the monitor in the area that may be used by an airbag, as this could
cause injury if the airbags are triggered.
z When drilling, ensure that there is sufficient room for the drill head to emerge once
the hole has been made to prevent damage (see fig. 1.D, page 3).
z Grind all drill holes and treat them with rust-protection agent.
Observe the following instructions when working with electrical parts:
z Only use a diode test lamp or voltmeter to test voltages in electric cables.
Test lamps with an illuminant take up voltages which are too high and which can
damage the vehicle's electronic system.
