PERSONAL SOUND AMPLIFIER
Dr. M. Miles Goldsmith M.D., F.A.C.S.
Ear Surgeon, Neurotologist
FocusEar allows you to enhance your
listening skills….like reading glasses for
your ears! The highest delity available
in ear worn devices is here. They will
amaze you in noisy situations and will
improve your ability to focus on the
important sounds you want to hear.
We are constantly improving our products
and are most interested in your opinion
on how to improve our technology. We
will not rest our ears, until the whole
world hears!
Dr.M.Miles Goldsmith
Co-founder
FocusEar
If you were exposed to loud sounds,
you would seek hearing protection. At
the other end of the sound spectrum,
are difcult to hear sounds. Sounds
are hard to hear for a variety of reasons
usually related to one of two conditions:
Either the sound is softer than you want
to hear it normally, or there is competing
noise which makes the signal hard to
understand.
FocusEar is an elite brand of Personal
Sound Amplier Product (PSAP). PSAP’s
are intended to improve a normal hearing
condition in difcult situations.
When you want a boost
• Lectures with distant speakers -
Hear the professor from the back of the
room.
• Movie Theatre
• Church / Worship
• Surveillance -
Curious how private
investigators work? Hear conversations
from across the room!
• Social Events - Where too much
ambient noise is present.
• Sporting Events - Hear the referee
from far away - even the last row of the
arena!
Seminars; Group settings
Television
- Watch television while your
spouse is sleeping!
“While some of the technology and
function of hearing aids and Personal
Sound Amplier Products may be
similar,” our goal is to provide ampliers
for recreational, social, and business use
which are the best ear level electronics in
the marketplace.
FocusEar products are simple to use,
comfortable, inconspicuous and easy
to wear and maintain. Looking for a
better listening experience or need help
with competing noise environments?
FocusEar turns ordinary hearing into
extraordinary hearing and will benet
most people in need of hearing
assistance. FocusEar allows you to hear
normal sounds with more clarity.
PSAP vs Hearing Aid Where FocusEar can help
Cleaning Your ITE
To clean your ITE FocusEar unit, simply use the wax brush to clear away any
debris from the tip and microphone opening (Fig. A). The wax brush should be
used daily. Use a soft cloth to clean the rest of the FocusEar ITE.
Replacing the Hear Clear wax basket: Follow the pictorial shown in Hear Clear
case. Depending on how clean your ear canals are, frequent changes might be
required. You may have your Doctor or a qualied care provider irrigate your ears
to minimize wax buildup.
Not replacing the Hear Clear wax basket voids the warranty.

Identifying Your FocusEar ITE
Step
3
FocusEar ITE uses a 10A Battery.
With your nger, gently open the door. Insert
battery and close the door. Your FocusEar
System is equipped with a power on delay;
you will be given several seconds to seat the
device comfortably in your ear before it turns
on.
When placing the battery in your FocusEar
System, be sure to position the positive (+)
symbol on the side of the battery to line
up with the positive (+) symbol or color dot
shown on the battery door.
CAUTION: Batteries are dangerous if swallowed! Keep batteries out of the reach of children.
Never put batteries in your mouth for any reason - they are easily swallowed. In the event a
battery has been swallowed, seek immediate medical attention. For more information call the
National Battery Hotline at 202-625-3333.
Step

Inserting Your FocusEar
Step
1
Powering your FocusEar
Before inserting, make sure the battery door is closed properly and the microphone
port is at the top of your ear and pull string is at the bottom (Fig. B). To insert your
instrument, hold it with your thumb and index nger (Fig. C). Gently push the instrument
into your ear until it sits comfortably in your canal (Fig. D).
To ease insertion, you may wish to pull up slightly on the top of your ear with your other
hand as you push the hearing instrument into your ear.
NOTE: Some irritation may occur due to becoming accustomed to wearing a new
hearing instrument. If swelling or redness occurs, discontinue use and visit your
Doctor.

mode section for details.

left ear.
Volume Adjustment
The volume control trimmer can be set to any desired
volume level using the plastic screwdriver provided.
For many people, the default position will be sufcient
(middle). You will only need to make this adjustment
once or twice, because this sets the amount of vol-
ume for all situations (ITE 1) and modes (ITE 2).
When you place FocusEar in your ear after placing the battery, if you feel the volume is too soft,
rotate the volume control clockwise in small increments until you are satised.
When you place FocusEar in your ear after placing the battery, if you feel the volume is too loud
rotate the volume control counter-clockwise in small increments until you are satised.
The black dot is the loudest (12 O’clock).
The red dot is the softest (5 O’clock).
PLEASE NOTE: Rotate only to the BLACK DOT or RED DOT in the direction shown. If you
try to rotate beyond the volume control range you will damage the volume control.
The Mode button provides four modes which are used to enhance your listening
experience based on your listening situation, see list below.
FocusEar starts in mode 1 whenever it is rst turned on.
To switch FocusEar to mode 2, push the mode button once, you will hear two
beeps, which indicates mode 2.
You repeat the above step for modes 3 & 4.
When you are in mode 4, pressing the mode button, you will hear one beep which
then brings you back to mode 1.
