VR7608 Alarm Box

1.1 General
Alarm box is a requisite device for compact monitor system, connected alarm detector
and surveillance video, alarm box handle information, which is collected from alarm
detecting head; then pass through RS485 or RS232 BUS to DVR. DVR soft start up linkage
according to setting of user, such as: driving output switch of alarm box open light or
warning, recall preset point of speed dome, linkage E-Map, shoot the picture, video
recording, alarm long-distance transmission, and so on. Connected several alarm box can
add capacity of Input and Output.
Part of alarm box include: alarm input, alarm output, RS232 communication,
RS485 communication.
1.2 Main Features

Recall preset point of speed dome;
Open circuit and short circuit arm function;
Linkage E-Map, shoot the picture, video recording, alarm long-distance transmission.

1.4 Connection Diagram
Note:
DC12V+/DC12V- is the power input terminal.
When you have only one alarm box, you should connect RS232. When you have 2 or
above, you should use RS485.

Output of public alarmAny channel happen alarm input, do not program all have
alarm output.

Output connection diagram
NO and C buildup normally open output. When there is no linkage, the two ports are
open. When there is a linkage, the two ports change to be closed.
NC and C buildup normally closed output. When there is no linkage, the two ports are
closed. When there is a linkage, the two ports change to be open. Alarm input decides the
time of contactor.
Programmable outputAll output ports are in the control of upper computer’s
program.

1.6 Dip Settting
NOTE: There is no need to set this DIP switches if there is only one Relay box/card
used at the DVR.
Address set: 1-5;
Protocol set: 6-8;
Baud rate set: 9-10
Address Set: address setup is according to law of 8421 data, setting as follows (1 is “ON”):

When there is only one alarm box connected in the system, you should set its address as 1.
When there are more than one alarm boxes, their address are 1, 2, 3, and so on.

1.7 Board LED Indication
(POWER) power LED:
(Red) If power supply is normal, LED lighted.
(T/R) communication LED:
(Green) Setting and working normal, LED blinks, indicates heartbeat from the DVR.
(ALARM IN) alarm input LED:
(Red) Checking resistance between two ports. When it’s close to 0 ohm or infinity, LED
lighted.
(ALARM OUT) alarm output LED:
(Red) When control output, LED lighted.
Appendix: VR7608’s (VRRELAYBOX) setup in DVR software
Step 1 Set the DI/DO port . Check your PC what is the serial port (COM
port) used at the back of the DVR. This picture was just for illustration purposes.
Step 2 Set the DI/DO Alarm Device as NV7608 or NV7609 if
using the (Internal) Alarm card. Once setup correctly, the heartbeat LED will start flashing.
Step 2 When in use with the VR DVR system, configure the DVR server software “Sensor” menu
according to your own preference. See the VR Enterprise Manual for detail to setup the Sensor
menu.
