INITIAL CALIBRATION OF COMPASS
DURING PDS
Models:
’07 LS 460
Technical Service
Information Bulletin
September 22, 2006
PD067-06
The compass indicates the direction that the vehicle is heading by detecting the
direction and strength of the Earth’s magnetic field and processing this data using
the compass sensor and microcomputer.
Detection of the direction and strength of the Earth’s magnetic field varies according to
the area in which the vehicle is used and is affected by the residual magnetism of the
vehicle. For this reason, the geographic direction displayed may also deviate from the
direction determined by the Earth’s magnetic field according to the area in which the
vehicle is used.
Perform the initial calibration of the compass at the dealership prior to vehicle delivery.

to start the engine.
5. Push and hold the “AUTO” switch on
the mirror for about 9 seconds until
“CAL” appears on the display.
6. Drive the vehicle slowly at 5 mph
(8 km/h), or less, in a circle until the
direction is displayed. If there is NOT
enough space to drive in a circle, turn
the car around as shown, doing two
three-point turns in succession.
After driving in 1 to 3 circles in the
above method, “CAL” disappears and
calibration is complete.
NOTE:
S Do NOT perform calibration of the
compass in a place where the
Earth’s magnetic field is subject to
interference by artificial magnetic
fields (underground parking, under a
steel tower, between buildings, roof
parking, near a railroad crossing,
near a large vehicle, etc.)

electric systems (moon roof, power
windows, etc.) as they may interfere
with the calibration.

INITIALIZATION OF ADVANCED
PARKING GUIDANCE SYSTEM
Models:
’07 LS 460
Technical Service
Information Bulletin
September 22, 2006
PD068-06
The Advanced Parking Guidance System assists the driver during parking and parallel
parking by displaying an image of the area behind the vehicle and controlling the
steering wheel with the vehicle in reverse.
As a result of removing the DCC fuses or disconnecting the battery, the power source to
the steering angle sensor is cut off. When the DCC fuses are reinstalled or the battery
terminal is reconnected, the rear view monitor will be operative, but it cannot assist back
up parking operation because the center position recognized by the steering angle
sensor may not be initialized.
Initialize the Advanced Parking Guidance System after installing the DCC fuses during
Pre-delivery Service (PDS) at the dealership.
NOTE:
Any time the battery terminal has been disconnected, the Advanced Parking Guidance
System MUST be re-initialized.

INITIALIZATION OF VGRS SYSTEM
DURING PDS
Models:
’07 LS 460
Technical Service
Information Bulletin
September 22, 2006
PD071-06
This bulletin describes the initialization procedure for the Variable Gear Ratio Steering
(VGRS) system.
The DCC fuse is removed at the assembly plant to reduce parasitic current draw from
the battery during transport and storage. As a result of the removal of the DCC fuse, the
VGRS system will be inoperative and the steering wheel may be off-center.
After the DCC fuse is reinstalled, the VGRS system will be operative, but the steering
wheel may become off-center by 5 – 10 degrees. This condition may also appear when
the battery terminal has been disconnected.
Initialize the VGRS system following the procedure in this bulletin after installing the DCC
fuse or when reconnecting the battery terminal.
NOTE:
Do NOT adjust the steering wheel centering (i.e., do NOT adjust tie rod ends) before
initialization of the VGRS system, or the steering may be off-center on the opposite
side after initialization.
