INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
For use when Converting Model DVF-36P(H,S)(I,R)-(C,CC) Series
from Natural Gas to Propane/LP Gas
This conversion kit must be installed by a qualied
service agency.
Read these instructions completely before installing this
conversion kit.
Before proceeding, make sure gas control valve is in the
OFF position, all electrical power to the appliance is off and
replace is cool to the touch.
CAUTION: The gas supply shall be shut off prior to
disconnecting the electrical power before proceeding
with the conversion.

ACCESSING FIREPLACE
The gas control valve and main burner orice are located
under rebox oor of appliance and are accessed by remov-
ing bottom access panel or bricks. 2 orices are located in
burners and are accessed by removing the bottom access
door or bricks, glass door and burner.
REMOVING/REPLACING GLASS DOORS
Standard Glass Models ending in -C have only an inner door
to be removed/replaced. Cool Touch Glass Models ending in
-CC have an inner, middle and outer door.
Installing Middle Door (Cool Touch Glass
Models ending in -CC Only)
Middle door hangs on 2 hinges from top of inner glass door
(see Figure 1).
1. Remove middle door from packaging.
2. Angle middle door so top goes into replace rst. Hang middle
door on brackets at top of inner door (see Figure 1).
Installing Outer Door (Cool Touch Glass
Models ending in -CC Only)
1. Remove outer door from packaging.
2. There are three spring loaded pins on outer door. Set pins
to the locked position (see Figure 1).
3. Position outer door so pins line up with mating hinges on
replace. Holding door in place, release locks on spring
loaded pins (see Figure 1).
Removing and Installing Cool Touch Glass
(Models ending in -CC Only)
Cool touch glass is factory installed.
1. Open outer door. Secure door in open position to avoid
accidental breakage.
2. Remove middle door by lifting from hinges (see Figure 1).
Set aside to avoid scratches or damage.
3. Follow these instructions in reverse to reinstall.

BURNER ORIFICE CONVERSION
1. Remove andiron and hearth refractories from rebox bot-
tom (see Figure 4).
2. Complete burner/valve assembly is attached to burner
base. Detach burner/valve assembly from rebox bottom
by removing screws around the perimeter of burner base.
3. Remove LP orice from ex tube ttings. Apply a light
amount of propane/LP resistant sealant to threaded end
of NG orices (#50 & #51) supplied with kit. Thread NG
orices into ttings and tighten.
4. Adjust front and rear burner air shutters to fully open.
5. Reinstall burner/valve assembly removed in step 2.
Removing and Installing Inner Door (All
Models)
1. Remove screen and rod (see Figure 2).
2. Remove side bricks from top to bottom (see Figure 2).
3. Remove bottom bricks, starting with middle section (see
Figure 2).
4. While holding inner door, release 6 latches, 3 top and 3
bottom (see Figure 3).
5. Slowly tilt open glass at a 30° angle and lift up to release
glass from bottom retainer (see Figure 3).
6. Follow these instructions in reverse to reinstall.

GAS CONTROL VALVE CONVERSION
The gas control valve is convertible from propane/LP to natural
gas by a simple rotary knob located on the front face of the
valve (see Figure 5).
1. Remove the black cap by pulling the cap straight off. Note:
the position of the marker on the shaft of the simple rotary
knob. This mark will point to NAT or LP that indicates the
type of gas the valve is set on.
2. To convert the control valve back to the factory setting
(NAT), push in the simple rotary knob and rotate 90°. Note:
the marker will now point to NAT and the shaft will stay
out.
3. After the conversion has been made, check the outlet
pressure with a manometer. The factory setting on the
internal regulator is 3.5" w.c. for natural and 10.5" w.c. for
propane/LP.
4. Replace black cover cap.
5. Remove ow control set screw and replace with set screw
#00 provide with this kit.
Note: in replacement and conversion use only new parts
provided. When converting to different gas you must also
change pilot and burner orices.
CONVERSION LABELING AND PLACEMENT
1. Apply conversion label over top of existing certication
label (see Figure 6). Existing certication label is located
on lighting instructions plate inside gas valve compartment
area. With permanent ink, print previous model number on
label in space provided (see Figure 7).
2. After lling data required on conversion information label
(see Figure 8), afx it to oor of appliance where it is easily
seen when bottom access door is removed.

FINAL PREPARATION
1. Leak check gas control and any connections you've made
before operating appliance. Refer to Checking Gas Con-
nections in owner's manual.
2. Reinstall glass door and close latches.
3. Replace screen and reinstall bottom access door or
bricks.
The conversion is now complete.
To operate your replace, refer to Operating Fireplace in your
appliance owners manual.
WARNING: Test all gas piping and connections,
internal and external to unit, for leaks after installing
or servicing. Correct leaks at once.
WARNING: Never use an open ame to check for a
leak. Apply noncorrosive leak detection uid to all joints.
Bubbles forming show a leak. Correct all leaks at once.
WARNING: This conversion kit shall be installed
be a qualied service agency in accordance with the
manufacturer's instructions and all applicable codes
and requirements of the authority having jurisdiction.
If the information in these instruction is not followed
exactly, a re, explosion or production of carbon mon-
oxide may result causing property damage, personal
injury or loss of life. The qualied service agency is
responsible for the proper installation of this kit. The
installation is not proper and complete until the opera-
tion of the converted appliance is checked as specied
in the manufacturer's instructions supplied with the kit.

PILOT ORIFICE CONVERSION
1. Remove pilot hood from barrel using tweezers or needle
nose pliers to open clips (see Figure 9).
2. Remove pilot orice from inside barrel with slotted screw-
driver.
3. Replace pilot orice with orice supplied with this kit. Insert
open end of new pilot orice inside barrel and thread pilot
orice with slotted screwdriver.
4. Reinstall pilot hood into barrel then install clip to secure
pilot hood.
IMPORTANT: Be careful not to bend or kink aluminum tub-
ing during conversion. Make sure pilot hood and orice are
properly mated and aligned after nishing this conversion.
