BURLEY.COM ENG
WARNING
Failure to comply with the instructions and warnings in this manual could
result in serious injury or death of the rider.
Recommended speed limits:
o 15 mph (24 km/h) on smooth, straight roads.
o 5 mph (8 km/h) when turning or on uneven roads.
o A safe maximum speed is dependent of the trailer load, road conditions,
traffic, condition of the towing bicycle and the experience of the rider.
o It is the rider’s responsibility to ensure that they maintain a safe speed for
the trailer load, road conditions and traffic.
Hitch not intended for use on dropper seat posts or carbon fiber seat posts.
Riding over rough terrain at high speeds with a loaded trailer can cause
damage to the Travoy.
Because of the trailer’s weight, a bicycle pulling a trailer is heavier and less
responsive. Avoid rocks, curbs, hard braking and sudden swerving. Some
full suspension bicycles might have difficulty towing a fully loaded trailer
because they do not have adequate frame stiffness, which can lead to a
sluggish and difficult to control bicycle.
Experiment with the loaded trailer in an uncongested area until you become
familiar with how your bike handles towing a trailer.
Use caution when riding downhill with a trailer as the additional weight will
require longer distances for braking.
This trailer is intended for carrying cargo only.
o Do not use this trailer to carry children or animals.
Ensure cargo is securely fastened and evenly distributed before use. If cargo
is not secure, the trailer’s stability could be adversely affected.
The rider of the bicycle must be at least 16 years old.
DO NOT use with a total load that exceeds the weight limits.
DO NOT make modifications to the trailer.
DO NOT over-inflate the tires. Failure to comply with the rated tire sidewall
pressure may lead to explosion of the tire and possible injury.
DO NOT stand or sit on the trailer.
Refer to the bicycle manufacturer’s instructions to determine if the bicycle is suitable for
towing a trailer.
It is recommended that a qualified bicycle mechanic does a safety check of the towing
bicycle before attaching the trailer.
Before each ride, be sure the trailer and cargo does not interfere with braking, pedaling
or steering of the bicycle. It is recommended that a rearview mirror be used on the bike.
Always comply with local regulations when using the trailer on public roadways. Never
ride a bicycle at night without adequate lighting. Obey all local legal requirements for
lighting. The red reflector that came with the trailer must remain attached and visible at
all times. If you need to come to a stop for any reason, such as to make adjustments or to
address a flat tire, be sure to pull off of the road completely.
Use good judgment when deciding if weather, road or traffic conditions are safe to use
the trailer. Recommended temperature limits for using the trailer are 20°F to 100°F
(-7°C to 38°C).
It is the user’s responsibility to ensure that the load is adequately secured for safe
operation.
Bicycle trailer pulled by an Electric Power Assist Cycle (EPAC) can be restricted by law.
• The downward force at the end of the tow bar, where it meets the bike, should be
between 2 lbs and 8 lbs (1 and 3.6 kg). To measure this, load your trailer and place next to
bathroom scale. Step on scale and note your weight. While on scale, lift up the end of the
towbar to be at the same position as it would be mounted on your bicycle and note weight
again. The weight difference is the downwards force on the tow bar. Failure have proper
loading could result in product damage or handling instability.

Loading Your Trailer
There are many different options to load your Travoy. Tie-down buttons are
provided in eight places on the outside of the frame. These are intended to
be used with swivel-lock buckles included on Travoy bags and accessories
(Figure 16). Tie-down straps are included with your trailer. Various additional
bags and accessories are available for different styles and functions.
Follow these guidelines when loading your Travoy:
1. Do not exceed a total load of 60 lbs (27 kg).
2. Do not exceed 20 lbs (9 kg) in the upper portion of the trailer (above the
middle frame hinge).
3. Do not exceed 40lbs (18kg) on the lower portion of the trailer (below the
middle frame hinge).
4. With the trailer loaded, the weight at the hitch coupling should be greater
than 2 lbs (1 kg) but not exceed 8 lbs (3.6 kg).
5. Secure your load such that nothing touches the wheels and no loose items
can fall out.
6. Ensure that your load is as centered on the trailer as possible in order to
increase the stability of the trailer.
Connecting the Travoy to Your Bike
1. Attach the trailer to the hitch by sliding the flex
connector onto the hitch pin (Figure 17). The latch will
close automatically when the flex connector is fully
seated.
2. To disconnect the trailer, push the latch toward the
seatpost and lift the flex connector off the hitch pin
(Figure 18). Hold your bike upright to make it easier
for the coupling to slide on and off the pin.

cable can prevent the release mechanism from fully
releasing). Then pull the shelf toward
the frame (Figure 21).
NOTE: Pushing gently down on the shelf prior to pulling up
may help to fully release the shelf locking mechanism.
6. Fold the kickstand, by rotating the bottom of the
