Introduction
In August 2003 Brivis introduced the new 3 series Contour cooler and also a lesser featured contour
was also introduced called the Brivis Profiler.
The Brivis Profiler cooler was introduced to offer a budget model Contour to meet market demand.
The Brivis Profiler looks very similar to the Contour with its sloping base, but slight changes have
been made to the decorative panels. The Brivis Profiler cooler is also slightly smaller in height than
the Contour.
Brivis Contour Brivis Profiler
Both models, Brivis Profiler and Contour, now use the N-E5 control box instead of the older N-E4.
The main difference in the N-E5 control is the removal of the isolating switch from the top of the
control box. This isolating switch has been relocated to the underside of the cooler so that the
power can be isolated without removing the front pad. There has also been some software changes
to the N-E5.

Brivis Advance
The Brivis Advance was introduced in 2005 and is designed to take the place of the AD range of
units up to Model AD56. However, the AD76 and AD86 will remain in production.
In essence the Advance is a square shaped Contour/Profile, which sits upon the same base frame
as the Contour/Profiler. So for the purpose of servicing, all the electrical and operational
components are the same and therefore all the information contained in these manuals is relevant.
The BASE is square and sits on a vertical dropper box similar to the AD units, except that the
dropper box should come with outwards turned flange so that the locking brackets on the unit attach
to the dropper box. Like the AD unit, the cooler should be located high enough on the roof to
prevent the back from touching the roof.
The PAD FRAMES are attached in a similar fashion to the Contour and Profile unit. The front and
rear pads can be removed by first lifting the roof assembly, and then lifting the pad assembly out;
the same way the Contour and Profiler work.
The SIDE PAD FRAMES are slightly different and involve the pad frame being rolled into the centre
of the unit and then being raised out. It is important that the pad frame is not forced, as this could
damage the alloy brackets.
The ROOF ASSEMBLY also remains the same as the Profiler/Contour units.
Some standard features differ between the Brivis Profiler, Contour and Advance.

Retrofitting the Service N-E5 to 0, 1 & 2 Series Contours.
The service N-E5 control can be used as a replacement control for all previous model coolers,
however some parameters need to be adjusted in order for the control to operate correctly. The
table below details all of the parameter adjustments that need to be made for each model cooler
when fitting an N-E5 into an older model Contour. These parameters are located in the cooler
service parameter section, and can only be accessed by using a Networker.

N-E5 Cooler Control Dump Delay Parameter.
Units affected:
All Version 3 Contours and Profiler coolers using N-E5 electronic controller.
Reason for change:
R&D have informed us of a change within the N-E5 service parameters. which has the potential to
cause a problem. This change has happened mid production and has affected the first 2020 units.
The problem has occurred to service parameter 01, which relates to the Dump Delay time. The
change is with the way the parameter is read. Usually the parameter unit was in single minutes, but
on the newer N-E5 controllers it has been changed to units of 10 minutes.
For example
- Normal setting was 60, meaning 60 minutes before the cooler would dump.
- New setting is 6, meaning 6 lots of 10 minutes which equals 60 minutes.
If service parameter 01 on the newer N-E5 is changed to 60 when we service these units, it
will then dump after 10 hours (60 x 10 minutes = 600 minutes). Vice Versa if Parameter 01 on
the first version N-E5 is set to 6, it will then dump after 6 minutes.
In both cases this will cause a fairly major upset with the units normal operation. We can trace the
individual controllers by their serial number. The first 2020 controllers have the dump delay setting
units in minutes, and the rest of the production controllers will all have the dump delay setting units
in lots of 10 minutes.
N-E5 Serial Numbers - 18764 020 0000 to 18764 020 2020 have the dump delay in single minutes.
N-E5 Serial Numbers - 18764 020 2021 and Beyond will have the dump delay setting in lots of 10
minutes.
N-E5 - Version 9, 9a & 10 will have the dump delay setting in lots of 10 minutes.

N-E5 Cooler Control Upgrade
(This issue (2) replaces previous versions of servicing instruction #23 (issue 1))
Units affected: 3 Series Contours and Profilers.
Background: The version 7 N-E5 (original control) has proven to be unreliable, with the majority of
failures occurring with the Servo-seal action. The Version 8 N-E5 was introduced to fix this problem.
A tracking problem then started occurring on the trident water sensor. This coupled with lengthy fill
problems (software related) caused the units to operate OK for 2/3 hours before blowing hot air.
R&D have introduced the version 9 N-E5 control, which has had modifications done to the software.
This has improved the failure rate on the Servo-seal (further enhancement from the version 8), and
water level control problems, including refill times, have been rectified. Unfortunately the version 9
also suffered from Servo-seal failures, albeit few in number.
Root cause analysis has since proven that the cause of Servo-seal failures is due to power spikes
degrading PCB components. The version 9A is the latest N-E5 control, which has been upgraded to
protect components from power spikes. Field tests have already proven that the version 9A N-E5 is
very reliable.
The Version 9A controllers can be identified by the marking "9A" on the box.
Action: Technicians, when attending any 3 series cooler (Brivis Profiler or Contour), need to
complete these steps:
Identify the version of controller in the cooler and replace all N-E5 controls (version 7, 8 or 9) with
the new version "9A" controller. Version 8 controllers will be marked with an "8" on the box, and
version 9 controllers with a "9", while any version 7 and before will have no marking on the box.
Correctly label the control box with a defect sticker marked "TO BE REWORKED".
Test cooler for correct operation.

Trident Water Sensor Tracking Problems
Units affected: All Contours 1,2 & 3 Series, and Profiler 3 Series.
Background: It has been found in the field that the trident water sensor can be subject to false
sensing. This is caused by mineral build up behind the water sensor probes. The cooler may run for
a period of time before the fault occurs, but the fault will eventually result in the pump cavitating
because the unit has failed to fill. The build up on the probes forces the electronic controller to think
the water level is OK, when in actual fact it doesn't really know at what level the water is at.
Action: Service technicians are required to perform this action when attending any 3 series Contour
or Profiler. This action should only be performed on 1 or 2 series Contour coolers if they exhibit the
above symptoms. The installation of a modified water sensor should be carried according to the
installation instructions.
Plastic Housing Modified Sensor
Installation: Modifications have been made to Trident water sensor to help prevent this electrical
tracking on the water sensor. The plastic legs on the trident probe housing have been removed,
preventing any build up of minerals at the low point of the probes (see pictures).
Remove the old water sensor from the cooler trough and attach a defective label to part. This part
should be sent to warranty returns. if the unit is under warranty. If the unit is not under warranty this
part is to be charged to the customer.
Replace the water sensor with Part - 18066 - WATER SENSOR ASSY CONTOUR L1, ensuring
that the plastic housing has been modified (see picture above).
Test cooler for correct operation.

Introduction of 5.5 litre ELBI solenoid
Background: On the 23/11/2004, the 5.5 litre ELBI solenoid was introduced into production for all 3
series Contours and Profilers. it was originally brought into production to try and prevent units from
failing to fill during a water limp error. it was found that the cause was not the limited flow (4 litre
ELBI) of the original solenoid but a water sensing issue. However the supplier of these solenoids
had already delivered 10,000 5.5 - litre solenoids, thus they were used in production.
Action: The introduction of the 5.5 litre solenoid is not expected to make any dramatic change to
the coolers operation. However there is a slight increase of water hammer occurring on the
premises. Tests conducted by our R&D department have proved that the hammer spike generated
by the 5.5 litre ELBI is no greater than our previous 12 litre soft close solenoid. Technicians can
identify the new 5.5 litre solenoid by a blue label that has been placed on the side of the solenoid
valve body.
