DAB / DAB+ (Digital Radio) brings a superior listing experience whether it’s music,
chat or any other programming. Your Christie features DAB and DAB+ the two standards in digital broadcasting
which means you can listening to digital radio all across Europe. And when you nd a station you love save it as one
of your 30 preset favourites.
FM Radio Reception
Just in case you nd yourself without Digital Coverage we make sure you can keep listening to the radio with FM
reception, and again of course you can save your favourite stations to the 30 presets.
NFC & Bluetooth Connectivity
When it’s time for your own music simply connect with one-touch with an NFC enabled device or pair with
Bluetooth and you can enjoy all the music you’ve got on any of your smart devices – whether it’s stored on your
device or being streamed through services such as Spotify or TuneIn it will all sound great on your Christie.

3.5mm Headphone Connection
Past your bedtime and time to hide under the covers with your favourite tunes – just plug in your headphones and
no one will know.
USB Charging:
Your Christie is a very useful companion as you can charge smart devices from the USB connection – perfect for a
bedside table, in the ofce or just anywhere you need a little power boost. Your smart device will charge whether
your Christie is in Standby mode or in Working mode, also your smart device can be charging when your Christie is
in Standby mode while using the VQ Battery Pack.
VQ Lifestyle Alarm
The dual alarms and sleep timer make Christie the perfect bedside companion, his & hers or week & weekend - set
the alarm or countdown for whenever you need it.
Mains or Battery Power
Christie can use standard mains power (UK/EU Plug) or just add the VQ Battery Pack to listen on the move with a
typical battery run time of up to 25 hours.

Using Your Christie
Selecting Input Mode
Christie has four input modes:
- DAB
- FM
- AUX
- Bluetooth / NFC (BT)
DAB Scanning
When you rst turn on your Christie it scans the DAB band for available stations all of which are then stored
automatically to Christie’s memory.
You can re-scan at any time if you move to a different area or just to refresh the stored list of available stations
1. Press the MODE button to switch to DAB Mode
2. Press the UP or DOWN button repeatedly on the Digital Radio, the stations in the station list will be displayed in
sequence.
3. Press OK button to select the displayed
4. Press INFO button, the scrolling information of the station will be displayed according to the following
sequence: RADIO TEXT, PROGRAM TYPE, SIGNAL STRENGTH, CURRENT TIME, FM FREQ, STEREO MONO.
5. If you want to perform full scan or manual scan for your desired stations, press MENU button to select Full Scan
or Manual Scan. Using Up and Down button to select and conrm by the OK button

Positioning
A good place for your Christie:
- has a at and stable surface with sufcient ventilation.
- is within 1.4 metres of a power socket if you are using mains power.
- has space above it for you to fully extend the telescopic aerial vertically.
- is away from bright sunlight, heat sources, humidity and dampness.
Getting Started
Carefully remove your Christie from the box. You may wish to keep the packaging for further use.
Using the AC Adaptor:
- Connect the power adaptor to the DC Jack at the back of unit, then insert the Power Adaptor into the main wall
outlet.
- Slide the Power On/Off switch on the rear panel to the On position. Christie will switch on in Standby mode with
10 seconds background brightness.
- Press the Standby button on the Christie front panel.
- When you turn your Christie on for the rst time the scanning display will be shown, Christie automatically scans
for all usable digital stations and stores them alphanumerically.
- After the scan completes, the clock will be set and Christie will play the rst available station.
Using the VQ rechargeable Battery Pack:
- The unit is also for portable use. Please install the Rechargable VQ Battery Pack (not supplied) at the
back of the unit. Follow the intructions in page 32.

Storing and Selecting Favourite Stations
The Christie can store up to 30 of your favourite DAB and FM stations. Follow the steps below to store and select
your favourite stations
To store a Favourite station:
1. Tune to the DAB or FM radio station you want to store.
2. Press and hold the PRESETS button to setup the favourite list. Using UP and DOWN button to navigate the
number you want to store.
3. Press OK button to conrm your selection
To recall a Favourite station when listening to DAB or FM radio
1. To tune to the favourites, press FAVOURITE button to access.
2. Press UP and DOWN button to navigate your desired favourite station and press OK button to conrm.
Bluetooth / NFC
If your phone, tablet or any smart devices is capable of storing or streaming audio les, you can use Bluetooth to
listen to content from your device on Christie. Also your Christie has built with the latest NFC functionality, so
Bluetooth streaming is as simple as tapping your enabled phone easily against the control panel.
1. Press MODE to switch to Bluetooth input.
Listening to FM Radio
Your Christie can also receive FM band radio stations.
To change to FM Mode:
1. Press MODE button to switch to FM mode
To auto-tune to FM stations
1. Press and Hold the Up or Down button to search up or down for the next station in the band.
The radio will search and the tuning frequency will be displayed whilst searching. When a usable station is
detected the radio will stop tuning and play the station.
To manually tune to FM stations:
1. Press the Up or Down button to ne tune the station by 0.05Hz step, or you can press and hold the UP or
DOWN button to scan next or previous available stations.
2. Press INFO button to scroll the station info from below accordingly can include RADIO TEXT, PROGRAM TYPE,
SIGNAL STRENGTH, CURRENT TIME, FM FREQ, STEREO MONO.

Controlling Bluetooth / NFC Mode music playback
You can control the content on your smart device via the controls on your Christie.
1. Press OK button to play or pause the music playback.
2. Press UP and DOWN button to skip track.
3. Press the Vol +/- to adjust the volume level.
4. To Unpair, press and hold the MODE button to unpair the connected Bluetooth device
NOTE: You can do vice versa, press the same type of buttons in your Bluetooth device to control the music playback
function wirelessly.
Auxiliary Connections
AUX-IN
For older devices or if you do not wish to use Bluetooth or NFC connectivity you can connect using the 3.5mm Aux-
in cable connection.
1. Press Mode to switch to Aux input.
2. Connect your audio device to the 3,5mm audio jack with 3.5mm audio cable (not included).
NOTE: It’s recommended to turn your audio device to 80% volume. You can adjust the audio volume in Christie.
3. To mute, press Play/Pause button.
Using the Headphone Jack
You can enjoy your personal music via the headphone jack. Simply plug your headphone to the headphone jack at
the back of the unit.
NOTE: It’s recommended that you do not listen to music via headphones at loud levels for extended periods of time
2. Enable the NFC option on your Bluetooth device, and then put your Bluetooth device at the top of your Christie,
following to select “Yes” at the pop up of proposal, and the display will show “Connect”.
3. If your Bluetooth device without embed the NFC function, then enable your Bluetooth at On mode, Christie will
start searching any available device. Display will show “Pairing”.
NOTE: Adding a Bluetooth Device varies on different mobile devices, tablet and computer. See your Bluethooth
device manual for specic information.
4. Start the pairing on your device. Do this by selecting “Christie” from the list of available devices shown your
device screen. This will connect automatically once paired. Christie display will show “Connected”.
NOTE: The auto pairing will search for 1 miniute for available device. If nothing is paired, the display will show
“Pairing”.
5. To reconnect or disconnect from Christie, press and hold the MODE button.
NOTE: You will need to disconnect any connected Bluetooth devices from Christie to stream from a different
Bluetooth device.
NOTE: Bluetooth will automatically disconnect if you are out of the range of the Christie.
Using NFC function
Your Christie features the latest NFC functionality, so Bluetooth streaming is as simple as tapping your enabled
phone easily .
1. Enable the NFC option on your Bluetooth device,
2. Put your Bluetooth device at the top of your Christie, following to select “Yes” at the pop up of proposal, and the
display will show “Connect”.
NOTE: NFC connection varies on different mobile devices, tablet and computer. See your device manual for specic
information.
3. Start the pairing on your device. The “Christie” from the list of available devices is shown on your device screen.
This will connect automatically once paired. Christie display will show “Connected”.
4. To disconnect from Christie, press and hold the MODE button. To reconnect from Christie do the step 2 again.

Setting the VQ Lifestyle alarm
The alarm in Christie switches the radio on (if in standby) and tunes to a DAB or FM radio station or sounds
a tone.
1. Press the Alarm button to enter into Alarm setup Menu
2. Choose to set the Alarm 1 or Alarm 2. Press OK button to conrm your selection
3. Press UP and DOWN button to the next Alarm setting to turn the alarm on and off or wake up by different
status. Press OK button to conrm and go to the next level.
4. Press UP and DOWN button to choose wake to the wake up source from Beep/DAB/FM. Press OK button to
conrm your selection.
5. If wake up by ONCE is selected, alarm setting required you to set the designated date to alarm.
6. In alarm time setting, using UP and DOWN to adjust the hh. Press OK to conrm and to set the mm. Press OK
button to conrm again.
7. Press UP and DOWN button to set the Vol of Alarm from 1 to 20 levels. Press OK button to conrm and exist.
The alarm icon will appear on the display to show that the alarm is set.
Snoozing a sounding alarm
To snooze a sounding alarm, press any button except the Power Standby button to snooze. The alarm will sound
again in 10 minutes
NOTE: The alarm will automatically stop after 60mins if the Christie is not pressed to snooze.
Cancelling a sounding alarm
To cancel a sounding tone alarm, press Power Standby button once
to stop.
Setting the Clock, Alarm, Count Down Timer and Sleep Timer
Setting the clock
The time and date on Christie is automatically set by the DAB or FM radio signal. If the time/date does not update
automatically, you can manually set it.
Note: Any time or date updates received by DAB or FM broadcast will override manual settings, if clock
synchronisation is selected. Please refer below instructions for more information.
Setting the time and date manually
1. Press MENU button, and press UP and DOWN button to choose “Clock Set Up.
2. Press UP and DOWN to scroll to “Manual”. Press OK button to conrm.
3. Press UP and DOWN button repeatedly to adjust format of the Date and Time, setting that MMDDYY and
12/24H, setting the Date and Time. Press OK to conrm every setting and then to next step.
Clock synchronisation options
1. Press Menu button and press the Up and Down button to choose “Clock Set Up
2. Press UP and DOWN button to choose from ALL Radio or Manual. Press OK button to conrm your selection
Note: Radio means clock synchronisation automatically via the radio broadcasting signal from DAB or FM radio.
Any manual setting will be override when Radio is chosen.
Note: Manual means clock will not be synchronised. Your clock setting is only set manually.

Other Functions
Backlight Setting
You can adjust the backlight during power on.
Press the Brightness button repeatedly to choose from 1- 5 backlight setting.
Audio Setting
Your Christie features innovative Digital Sound Processing (DSP) software which is specically tuned to ensure you
receive only the very best audio experience no matter what you’re listening too.
Changing the language
1. Press Menu.
2. Press UP and DOWN button to choose Language setting.
3. Press UP and DOWN button to select a menu language from English, French, German, Italian, Spanish,
Portuguese and Dutch.
4. Press OK button to conrm the selection.
WARNING:
Factory Reset
Resetting your Christie removes all favourites, stored stations, alarms and resets all other options to the default
settings.
1. Press Menu
2. Press UP and DOWN button to choose “System Reset”
3. Press OK button to conrm, press UP and DOWN to choose YES, and press OK to conrm the selection. Then
Christie will be reset to the factory default.
Software Version
1. Press Menu
2. Press UP and DOWN button to choose “SW Version”
3. Press OK to view the software version.
Disabling an alarm
1. Press Alarm button when alarm is not sounding. Entre into the alarm setting menu
2. Press UP and DOWN button to select Alarm On/Off menu.
3. Press OK button to conrm your selection.
Setting the Count Down Timer
The Count Down Time can be set to help you count down the time.
1. Press and Hold the Alarm button to enter into the setup menu
2. Press UP and DOWN to set the timer ON and them press OK to conrm.
2. HH:MM:SS is displayed. Press UP and DOWN button to adjust the HH, press OK button to conrm. Repeat the
instruction to set the MM and SS setting.
Setting the Sleep Timer
The Sleep Timer can be set to switch Christie off after a period of time.
1. Press Menu
2. Press UP and DOWN button to choose “Sleep”, press OK button to conrm your selection
3. Press UP and DOWN button to set the timer for up to 90minutes or choose Sleep off to cancel.
4. The sleep timer icon will appear on the display to show that the sleep timer is set.

VQ Battery Pack (optional)
- The VQ Battery Pack is an optional accessory which enables the portable use of your Christie
- The VQ Battery Pack is designed for a long life and will provide charge and recharge function for several years
with responsible use.
- The VQ Battery Pack is available to purchase directly from View Quest (www.viewquest.co.uk) or from a range of
retailers.
- Should you need to dispose of a VQ Battery Pack ensure you recycle or dispose of the pack in an environmentally
friendly way, as recommended by your own regional regulations.
- Do not short circuit batteries or throw them into water, general rubbish or in a re.
Installing VQ Battery Pack
1. Switch Christie off and disconnect from the mains power supply.
2. Open the battery compartment.
3. Insert the VQ Battery Pack connector plug into the socket in the compartment. Line up the ridges on the plug
with the slots in the socket to ensure correct orientation. Do not force the plug.
4. Insert VQ Battery Pack into the battery compartment, logo side out.
5. Replace the battery cover and connect Christie to the mains.
6. The VQ Battery Pack will begin charging.
Note: If you are charging the VQ Battery Pack for the rst time or after an extended period of inactivity it is
recommended that it is charged for around 24 hours to ensure full battery power. If the VQ Battery Pack is
at there may be a slight delay before the battery charging indicator is displayed.
