Thanks forshowing us
yourcondenceby investing in
a ProfotoComPact system.
Formorethanthreedecadeswehavesoughttheperfectlight.Whatpushesusistheconviction
that wecan offer even the most demandingphotographeryet better tools.
Before our productsare shipped wehave them passan extensive andstrict testing program.
We checkthat they pass the quality and capacitylevels the mostdemanding photographers
require. Forthis reason our flash equipment isthe standard in most rental studios inNew
York andTokyo and the most rented flash allover the world.
The systemconsists of a variety of generators builtand designed tomeet the demands of
the mostdemanding photographerson thisplanet.
Quality of Light
Yet the most important thing is the lightyou create and it is then essentialthat the system
offersfreedom to create your own light. The ComPactsin particular offeryou this possibility.
The lightsource, both theflash tube and themodelling light, isplaced high and free in the
flash head. This makes it easierforyou to adjust the light and useyour creativity.
The reflectorsare moveable andlock easily into place.By moving theposition of the reflector
you canget a higher or lower concentration of light in the centeror more of aflood light.
This isnot new,of course. Ourflash heads havealways beendesigned that way. What is new,
however, is our newglass cover, which is designed to increaseprecision. The ComPacts are
supplied witha frosted anduncoated glasscover, which together with the flashtube, produce
a colourtemperatureadapted to daylightcolour film. There are glass covers with varying
filtration, for greater diversity.
The wholeComPact system is modular. Every single reflector and accessory creates its
special lightand the uniqueProfotofocusing system offersyou a possibility to create your
own distinctivelight using onlya few reflectors.
Thanks

VOLTAGESELECTION (1)
You can choose between two voltage ranges, 90-130V,
60Hz or 180-260V, 50 Hz. The generator should be
switched off.Voltage selection is doneby pulling out
and turningthe plug-in board on the rear panelof the
generator. You can seethe correctmains voltage onthe
top of the card, USE ON VOLTS ONLY. Make sure
you insert thecard STRAIGHT.
MAINS (AC) CONNECTION (2)
The generatoris designed forACconnection only. Itcan
be connected to the most common mainsvoltages:
90-130V, 60Hzor 180-260V, 50Hz. Before mains
connection make sure that the operatingvoltage key
card matches (plug-in board)the mains voltage.
When charging the mains voltage the modellinglamp
must also be changed.Connect the unit tothe mains
with the cable included in the delivery.
WARNING! Neveruse ordinaryhousehold extension
cords to extend the power cable. They may overheat.
Contact your Profotodistribution for proper equipment.
CHARGING(3)
Beforecharging, check that the plug-in boardis showing
the correctvoltage. The charging time varies somewhat,
depending on the power you selected andthe mains
voltage.The chargingtime isshortestatthelowestpower
andhighestvoltage. You usethe switch marked ON to
start charging. The ComPact600 and 1200Wsare both
equipped with automatic protection(cutout) against
overheating, which switches off charging. When the
temperaturedrops, the cutout resets automatically.
This protects the unit against serious faults that could
otherwise result fromoverheating.

MODELLING LAMP(4)
The modelling light consists of a lampthat is feddirectly
from the mains. It is thereforeimportant to check that
the lamp has a ratedvoltage thatmatches that ofthe
mains.The lampsupplied as standardis a 150 - 250W
halogen lamp with an E27base (ComPactSpecial 300
and ComPact Special 600)or a 500Whalogen lamp with
an E11 Minican base with the ComPact1200.
The ComPact 300 and ComPact600 can also be
supplied with a normal 100Wlamp withan E27base.
To improve the correspondence betweenthe modelling
light and flash, the flash tube andmodelling lamp is
enclosed in a frosted glass cover (standardin all models
with halogen modelling lamps).
BEFOREYOUCHANGE THE MODELLING LAMPOR

BYPRESSINGTHETEST BUTTONATTHE SAME TIME
AS SWITCHING OFFTHE MAIN SWITCH.
READYLAMP/TEST BUTTON(5)
The ready lamp/test buttonhas two functions. First, it
lights up when the unit is fullycharged. Second, itcan
be used to manually sync (trigger) theunit (open flash).
When a lower energy setting is chosen , trigger a flash
so that the unit can recycle for the newenergy setting.
PHOTOCELL
The units has a built-in photocell. The photocell in
the unit serves as a slavesync when another flash is
triggered.The photocellis automatically disabled
when a sync cable is plugged in.
