COMBISANDER

The following pictograms are used in these instructions for

use:

Denotes risk of personal injury, loss of life or da-

mage to the tool in case of non-observance of

the instructions in this manual.

Denotes risk of electric shock.

Carefully read this manual before using the machine. Ma-

ke sure that you know how the machine functions and how

to operate it. Maintain the machine in accordance with the

instructions to make sure it functions properly. Keep this

manual and the enclosed documentation with the machi-

ne.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

When using electric machines always observe the sa-

fety regulations applicable in your country to reduce

the risk of fire, electric shock and personal injury. Re-

ad the following safety instructions and also the en-

closed safety instructions.

- When working with the sander always wear ear pro-

tectors and a dust mask.

- Check the wood to be worked on for nails that stick out

and the like and remove them.

- Keep your hands away from the area to be sanded.

- The sander is not suitable for wet sanding.

- Check that the switch is not in the ‘on’ position before

you plug the sander in.

- Always keep the mains lead away from the moving

parts of the tool.

- Wear safety goggles, especially if you are sanding

overhead.

- Do not push on the machine, this will only slow down

the sanding.

SANDING PAINTED SURFACES.

Observe the applicable rules when sanding painted surfa-

ces. Above all take the following into account:

- If possible always use a dust extraction system.

- Dispose of dust and other waste in a responsible way.

BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL WHEN SAN-

DING LEAD-BASED PAINT.

- All persons entering the work area must wear a mask

to protect them from lead paint dust and vapour.

- Children and pregnant women may not enter the work

area.

- Eating, drinking and smoking is not permitted in the

work area.

IMMEDIATELY TURN OFF THE MACHINE IN

CASE OF:

1. Excessive sparks from the carbon brushes and vertici-

liosis in the collector.

2. Failure in the mains plug, mains lead or damage to the

lead.

3. Defect switch.

4. Smoke or odour of scorched insulation.

Electrical safety

Always check that the mains voltage corres-

ponds to the value on the model plate.

The machine has double insulation in accordan-

ce with EN 50144; an earth wire is therefore not

required..

When replacing leads or plugs

Always immediately dispose of old leads or plugs as soon

as they have been replaced by new ones. It is dangerous

to put a loose plug into a socket.

When using extension cables

Only use an approved extension cable which is suitable

for the voltage of the machine. The conductors must have

a surface area of at least 1.5 mm

. If the extension cable is

on a reel, unroll it completely.

The Ferm FCS-180 Combisander is a versatile machine

with which you can easily sand large surfaces, corners

and even round or small parts. The Combisander can be

used to sand wooden and metal surfaces.

In addition the machine is delivered with a scraper which

can be used to easily remove loose paint layers and re-

mains of glue from the area to be sanded.

ATTACHING ACCESSORIES

Before attaching accessories always remove

the plug from the socket.

Before attaching the accessories make sure that the ma-

chine has cooled down sufficiently. The socket screw in

particular can become very hot during use.

TO ATTACH THE TRIANGULAR SANDING FOOT

- Remove the socket screw on the head of the sander.

- Place the triangular sanding foot on the head of the

sander. Make sure that the hole of the sanding foot fits

precisely on the head.

- Then place the socket screw back on the head and

tighten it with the Allenkey

TO ATTACH THE ROTATING SANDING FOOT

- Remove the socket screw on the head of the sander.

- Place the rotating sanding foot on the head of the san-

der. Make sure that the hole in the sanding foot fits pre-

cisely on the spindle.

- Then place the socket screw back on the head and

tighten it with the Allenkey

Keep your hands away from the rotating san-

ding foot during operation.

TO ATTACH THE DETAIL-SANDING FOOT

Push the detail sanding foot into the hole of the adap-

ter.

- Then attach the adapter to the machine, this is done in

the same way as to attach the triangular sanding foot:

- Place the adapter on the head of the sander. Make

sure that the hole in the sanding foot fits precisely

onto the head of the machine.

- Then place the socket screw back on the head and

tighten it with the Allenkey

TO ATTACH SANDPAPER

The various feet of the sander have Velcro, only use sand-

paper which is suitable for this.

To attach sandpaper to the triangular sanding foot

and rotating sanding foot.

- Remove the machine's plug from the socket.

- Place the holes in the sandpaper over the holes in the

foot and press on the sandpaper to attach it to the foot

To attach the sandpaper to the detail sanding foot.

- Remove the machine's plug from the socket.

- Place the sandpaper over the entire foot and press

firmly into place.

CHOICE OF SANDPAPER.

Coarse sandpaper (grain 50) in general removes the most

material and fine sandpaper is use for finishing. If the sur-

face is uneven, you start with coarse sandpaper. You then

use medium sandpaper (grain 80) to remove the scrat-

ches left by the first sandpaper and finally you use fine

sandpaper (grain 120) for finishing.

- Lad skraberen glide ind i hullet i adapteren. Kontroller,

at skrabedelen peger nedad.

- Fastgør derefter skraberen med fløjmøtrikken, som er

monteret på adapteren.

- Derefter monteres adapteren på maskinen, se "Mon-

tering af trekantslibesålen

BRUG AF SLIBEREN

- Tænd for maskinen ved at trykke på knappen on/off.

Hastigheden kan reguleres med knappen.

- Hvis Kombisliberen udsættes for for stor belastning

ved for lav hastighed, risikerer motoren at brænde

sammen.

Hold hænderne væk fra det område, der arbej-

des på under slibningen.

Støvudsugning

For at forbedre udsugningen af støv fra den overflade, der

arbejdes på, kan Kombisliberen forbindes til en almindelig

støvsuger.

VEDLIGEHOLDELSE

Kontroller, at maskinen ikke er tilsluttet, når den

vedligeholdes.

Ferms maskiner er konstrueret med henblik på at kunne

fungere problemfrit i lang tid med et minimum af vedlige-

holdelse. Regelmæssig rengøring af maskinen samt kor-

rekt håndtering bidrager til, at maskinen holder længe.

Rengøring

Rengør regelmæssigt maskinen med en blød klud, gerne

hver gang den har været i brug. Kontroller, at ventilations-

åbningerne er fri for støv og snavs.

Vanskeligt snavs fjernes med en blød klud opblødt i sæbe-

vand. Brug ikke opløsningsmidler, f.eks. benzin, sprit, sal-

miakspiritus osv., da disse kan beskadige maskinens

plastdele.

Smøring

Maskinen kræver ikke yderligere smøring.

Fejl

Kontakt den lokale Ferm-forhandler, hvis der f.eks. opstår

fejl som følge af slitage af en del.

På bagsiden ad denne instruktion findes en tegning af de

dele, som kan bestilles.

MILJØ

For at undgå transportskader leveres maskinen i robust

emballage. Emballagen er så vidt muligt fremstillet af gen-

brugsmaterialer og bør derfor afleveres til genbrug.

Hvis gamle maskiner udskiftes med nye, kan de gamle

indleveres hos den lokale Ferm-forhandler. Maskinerne

behandles der på en miljørigtig måde.

serne.

Tag altid stikket ud af kontakten, før tilbehøret

monteres.

Kontroller, at maskinen er tilstrækkeligt nedkølet, før tilbe-

høret monteres. Især indstikket kan blive meget varmt un-

der anvendelsen.

MONTERING AF TREKANTSLIBESÅLEN

- Fjern indstikket fra slibehovedet.

- Anbring trekantslibesålen på slibehovedet. Kontrol-

ler, at hullet i slibesålen passer nøjagtigt på slibehove-

det.

- Anbring derefter indstikket på slibehovedet igen, og

fastgør det med unbrakonøglen

MONTERING AF ROTERENDE SLIBESÅLEN

- Fjern indstikket fra slibehovedet.

- Anbring den roterende slibesål på slibehovedet. Kon-

troller, at hullet i slibesålen passer nøjagtigt på spinde-

len.

- Anbring derefter indstikket på slibehovedet igen, og

fastgør det med unbrakonøglen

Hold hænderne væk fra roterende slibesålen

der arbejdes på under slibningen.

- Lad detailslibesålen glide ind i hullet i adapteren. se fi-

gur C.

- Monter adapteren på maskinen. Dette gøres på sam-

me måde som ved trekantslibesålen:

- Anbring adapteren (5) på slibehovedet. Kontroller,

at hullet i slibesålen passer nøjagtigt på slibehove-

det.

- Anbring derefter indstikket på slibehovedet igen,

og fastgør det med unbrakonøglen.

MONTERING AF SANDPAPIR

De forskellige slibesåler er forsynet med Velcro. Brug kun

sandpapir, der passer til dette.

MONTERING AF SANDPAPIR PÅ TREKANTSLIBE-

SÅLEN OG DEN ROTERENDE SLIBESÅL.

- Tag stikket på maskinen ud af stikkontakten.

- Anbring hullerne i sandpapiret over hullerne i sålen, og

tryk på sandpapiret for at montere det på sålen.

MONTERING AF SANDPAPIR PÅ DETAILSLIBESÅ-

LEN.

- Tag stikket på maskinen ud af stikkontakten.

- Anbring sandpapiret over hele sålen, og tryk det på

plads.

VALG AF SANDPAPIR

Groft sandpapir (korn 50) fjerner generelt det meste mate-

riale, og fint sandpapir bruges til finpudsning. Hvis overfla-

den er ujævn, starter man med groft sandpapir. Derefter

bruges et mellemfint sandpapir (korn 80) til fjernelse af de

ridser, der er fremkommet med det første sandpapir, og

endelig anvendes fint sandpapir (korn 120) til finpudsning

- Slide the scraper into the hole of the adapter. Make su-

re that the scraper's head is pointing down.

- Then tighten the scraper with the wing nut which atta-

ched to the adapter.

- Then you can attach the adapter to the machine, see

"To attach the triangular sanding foot".

OPERATION

- Switch on the machine by pressing the on/off switch.

The speed can be adjusted with the dial.

- Too high a burden at a low speed of the Combisander

can make the motor burn up.

Keep your hands away from the area to be san-

ded and the machine during use.

Dust extraction

To improve the extraction of dust from the work surface,

the Combisander can simply be connected to an ordinary

household vacuum cleaner.

MAINTENANCE

Make sure that the machine is not live when car-

rying out maintenance work on the motor.

The Ferm machines have been designed to operate over

a long period of time with a minimum of maintenance. Con-

tinuous satisfactory operation depends upon proper ma-

chine care and regular cleaning.

Cleaning

Regularly clean the machine housing with a soft cloth, pre-

ferably after each use. Keep the ventilation slots free from

dust and dirt.

If the dirt does not come off use a soft cloth moistened with

soapy water. Never use solvents such as petrol, alcohol,

ammonia water, etc. These solvents may damage the

plastic parts.

Lubrication

The machine requires no additional lubrication.

Faults

Should a fault occur, e.g. after wear of a part, please con-

tact your local Ferm dealer.

In the back of this manual you find an exploded view sho-

wing the parts that can be ordered.

ENVIRONMENT

In order to prevent the machine from damage during trans-

port, it is delivered in a sturdy packaging. Most of the pac-

kaging materials can be recycled. Take these materials to

the appropriate recycling locations.

Take your unwanted machines to your local Ferm-dealer.

Here they will be disposed of in an environmentally safe

way.

GUARANTEE

The guarantee conditions can be found on the separately

enclosed guarantee card.
