AS3560/61 Evaluation System
Following figure shows the basic elements to have a simple setup for demonstration and evaluation of the
AS3560/61.

Basic elements of the AS3560/61 system are:
USB Interface Box: connect it to the AS3560/61 board with a 6 wire cable to the I2C connector. Connect
it to the PC with a standard USB connection cable.
AS3560/61 Board: The board should be connected to a supply either by standard mini banana
connectors or standard banana connectors.
Left differential input: connect a 3.5mm audio cable to this plug and your left input source.
Right differential input: connect a 3.5mm audio cable to this plug and your right input source.
Output: connect a headphone to this plug.

Software
To control all features of the chip with a simple-to-use graphical user interface, the Evaluation Suite Software is
available for Windows (98, XP, Vista, 7).
This SW controls the I2C interface of the chip through a USB interface box.
Software Installation
Software Installation – STEP 1
Start the installer program “AS3560EvalSW_Setup.msi” to do the SW setup. This installer will guide you through
the process of SW installation.

After the SW is successfully installed, connect the USB box. Within the installation dialogs, select following
settings:

Software User Manual
After starting the AS3560/61 Evaluation Software, make sure that the connection to the PC and the AS3560/61
Evalboard is established (green indicators).

Here you can adjust the left and right output channel separately. You have the option to mute, enable or enable
HiZ.
Enable HiZ set the left respectively the right channel output to high impedance mode.

To adjust the volume you can either use the slider or the drop-down-menu to set the volume from -59dB to +4dB.

Software in extended User Mode / Test Modes
To enable testing of the amplifier in different modes, a special test mode can be enabled by a combined key
press of STRG + ALT + s.
With that combined key press, an additional menu item will appear for setting the amplifier to different operating
modes. Note that setting modes reports “Write Register … Status: Verify failed” as some of the test bits are read
only registers that cannot be read back for verification.
