Mounting
Inthissection,wewillintroducewaystomountthescanengineintoyourdesign.
Atthebackofscanengine,therearetwoscrewholesreservedformounting,thescan
enginecanbefixedinanypositionandanyanglewithoutanydegradationin
performance.Andtoensurethesc
annerreachesitsbestperformance,thefollowing
pointsneedtobefollowedwhenmountingthescanner:
Toavoiddirectsunlightoranyotherbrightlightsourceilluminating.
Whenplacingthebarcodelabel,onemustbecarefulnottoovertilt,skewand/orpitch
thebarcode.
Toavoidputtingthescannerinspeculareflectionposition,theCMOSsensorwillnot
sensethereadingofanybarcodesifth
eLEDlightreflectsstraightback.
Thebarcodemustbeplacedwithintheeffectivedepthoffield(D.O.F.)area,the
effectivereadingdistanceforthebarcodefromthescanner.Itstheoryislikeacamera,if
theobjectisplacedwithinthefocalrange,andtheimageappearsclearly.Butifthe
objectisoutsi
dethefocalrange,theimagethenisblurred.Anddifferentqualityand
densityofbarcodescouldaffectitsD.O.F;usuallyalowerpieceorhighdensityof
barcode,itsdepthoffieldisshorter.Itissuggestedtoavoidusingdepthoffield
extremesrange,barcodeiseasilymovedawa
yfromthereadingrange.

ThermalConsiderations
ElectroniccomponentsintheZ‐5112willgenerateheatduringthecourseoftheir
operation.OperatingtheZ‐5112incontinuousmodeforanextendedperiodmayca
use
temperaturestoriseonAPUanddecoderchip.Overheatingcandegradeimagequality
andaffectscanningperformance.Giventhat,thefollowingprecautionsshouldbetaken
intoconsiderationwhenintegratingtheZ‐5112.
1. Reservesufficientspaceforgoodaircirculationinthedesign.
2. AvoidwrappingtheZ‐5112wi
ththermalinsulationmaterialssuchasrubber.
3. Increasethethermalstrategytoreducethescanningenginecontinuousoperating
temperature.
