ADJUSTING SCREW REPAIR KIT INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Before installation, these instructions must be fully read and understood.
WARNING
Failure to follow these directions could lead to
bodily injury or death.
CAUTION
Remove the Valve from the system and place the
valve in the recommended test fixture to achieve
proper set point. See Figure 1.
Be certain all liquid is removed from the vessel,
and the pressure is vented to 0 psig before
removing Valve from the system.
TOOLS NEEDED:
• 1/2”,3/4”,&7/8”Open-EndWrenches
• Pressuregaugescapableofproviding
adequateresolutionforValvesetpressure
adjustment.
ADJUSTING SCREW INSTALLATION
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Removeallpressurefromsystemandvent
pressureto0psig.DisconnectPBE-3from
system.
2. InstallPBE-3ValveAssemblyinatest
fixture,pertheschematicinFigure1.Using
1/2”wrench,unscrewtheoldAdjusting
Screwwhileusingthe3/4”wrenchtokeep
theBushingfromturning.
3. ThreadthenewAdjustingScrewintothe
Bushinguntilyoufeelresistance.
IMPORTANT
Apply an inlet pressure to the Valve that is only
10psig above the desired set pressure. Use
gaseous Nitrogen or dry air only!
4. Usingthe1/2”wrench,turntheAdjusting
Screwclock-wiseuntilthedesiredset
pressureisindicatedontheOutletPressure
Gauge.TheBushingmayneedtobekept
fromturningbysecuringwiththe3/4”
wrench.
5. IftheOutletPressureGaugedoesnot
correspondwithwhatisindicatedon
theSleeveontheAdjustingScrew,then
theBushingwillhavetobeadjustedin
conjunctionwiththeAdjustingScrewsothat
theyarecalibratedwiththegauge.
IMPORTANT
Do not unscrew the Bushing too far out of the
Spring Chamber. If this happens, the spring
force will eject the assembly out of the valve with
great velocity possibly injuring the operator or a
bystander. Please see Figure 1 for distance limit.
6. Ventoutletpressuretoatmosphereacouple
timesusingtheShut-offValvetoensure
thattheOutletPressureGaugecomesback
tothedesiredoutletpressure.Oncedesired
setpressureandcalibrationisachieved,
removeallpressurefromthetestfixture
anddisassembletheValvefromthefixture.
TightenLockNut.
7. ThePBE-3Valveisnowreadytobeplumbed
backintothesystem.
