“Lockbox AES256U3”
Introduction
The SiForce “Lockbox AES256U3” (unit) is a large capacity, hardware encrypted storage
device with a high speed USB 3.0 interface that can be used with your desktop or notebook
computers via a USB port.
System Requirements
Hardware System
USB 3.0 or USB 2.0 jack
Normal Usage
1. Plug unit into computer’s USB port (unit is powered over USB cable).
2. Key in password.
3. Drive is now accessible for use.
Required First Time Installation of Unit
Initialization and Password Setting
1. Plug the USB cable into your operating computer.
2. Before plugging the USB cable into the SiForce “Lockbox”, press and hold keys 1
and 3 simultaneously
3. While still depressing, plug the USB cable into the unit.
4. After a few seconds, the green light will begin flashing and will eventually turn solid.
(If the flashing continues, check the connection of the computer to the unit).
5. After 20 seconds, the red light will illuminate, which indicates successful
initialization. If not, the unit has not successfully initialized. Check that cables are
properly connected and that the key was depressed for 20 seconds.
6. Retry by repeating steps 1-4.
7. After successful conclusion, press the “#” key and hold for 5 seconds or until the
yellow light is illuminated. At this point red, yellow, and green lights should be
illuminated. If not, repeat all steps.
8. When the 3 lights are lit, enter your “password”.
Tip: Password should be a minimum of 4, maximum of 32 digits.
After you have entered your entire password, wait for the blue light to flash, then
press the “enter” key. Input your password again and press “enter” again. You have
successfully entered your password when the red light goes out and the blue light
comes on.
*When entering your password, wait a half second between each digit.
10. To continue and complete the initialization (partitioning the Hard Disk), you must
follow the remaining steps.

Hard Disk Partition – Windows
With the BLUE light ON your computer can commutate with the Unit.
1. At this time your computer will not show the unit under “My Computer,” you need
to Partition the Unit’s hard disk.
2. Follow these steps:
a) Click START
b) Click CONTROL PANNEL
c) Click SYSTEM AND SECURITY
d) Click ADMINSTRATIVE TOOLS
e) Click COMPUTER MANAGEMENT.
f) Click STORAGE
g) Click DISK MANAGEMENT
Right-click on disk 1, choose initialization “start”, then right click on “ok” to complete the
“unallocated” box to choose “new simple volume” as shown in figure 2.

A wizard prompting you to set-up the drive should appear.
Once you complete the wizard, you can now use your disk!
Partitioning the drive is a one-time operation, after you finish you can access the drive with just
your password. The next time you just need to input password press “Enter” to access or manage
the stored information.

With the BLUE light ON your computer can commutate with the Unit.
3. A prompt should appear saying, “The disk you inserted was not readable by this
computer.”
4. Click on the “Initialize” button
5. Follow these steps:
Select the “GB Initio SiForce” drive option
Select the “Partition” Tab

Select the desired number of Partitions, desired drive name, and desired file format
Once finished, click the “Apply” button, then the “Partition” button to complete the process

Resetting Password
1. Before disconnecting from your computer, press “cancel” and hold for 5 seconds. When
the red and yellow lights illuminate and release.
2. Enter the original password and press “enter” key. If the original password is correct, the
yellow light will go out and the red light will be flashing.
3. Enter a new password and press “enter” key. The blue light will flash twice and the red
will flash.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
1. Can I retrieve data if I lose or forget my password?
No so keep a record of your password.
2. Can the SiForce “AES 256” still be used after I lose my password?
Yes, it is still functional but must be reinitialized by following the instructions. Any
previous stored dated under the lost password will be inaccessible and not retrievable.
3. If the unit is broken, how can the data be accessed?
Contact us with the unit’s model and serial numbers. We may be able to replace the
units encryption printed circuit board.
“The Unit” will work with your original password.
4. Can data be retrieved from the hard disk drive when removed from the unit then
connected to another computer.
No, it is encrypted and will not be accessible.
5. Why is the capacity of the SiForce “AES 256” hard disk drive different from what it is
marked?
This is due to differences in the calculation method, storage medium characteristics and
file format management needs. A manufacturer’s hard drive is rated in unformatted
capacity. Formatting a hard drive (making it usable for the operating system) uses
some of its raw capacity. Therefore it reports a smaller, usable space after formatting.
