Preparation
The COMBOLOC tool is shipped in the closed position. To use tool:

up into the tool to open it. The mechanism of the
tool will release, opening the Sliding Compression Jaw

and retracting the
Expander Cone

2. Install the expander head of the correct size, threading it on clockwise until it
stops.Ensurethattheexpanderconeislubricated.Lithiumgreaseisrecom-
mended.
3. COMBOLOC tool is ready for use.

Expansion
TheCOMBOLOCtoolcanbeusedwithexpanderheadsinsizes3/8in.throughto
1 in. to expand RAUPEX pipes. Follow these steps for expansion:
1.CutRAUPEXpipetolengthusinganapprovedpipecutter.Thecutmustbe
clean and square. REHAU recommends using the RAUCUTTER art. 137495.
2.PlacethesleeveovertheRAUPEXpipewiththetaperedendtowardstheendof
the pipe.
3. Insert the expander head into the end of the pipe, and pump the handles
together until you hear a “click".
Tip 1:Reduceexpansiontimeandsavetwopumpsbymanuallysqueezingthe
compression jaws together after inserting the expander head into the pipe.
4.Pumpthehandles6timesuntiltheexpanderheadisfullyopen.Onthenal
pump,holdpipeopenfor1-2seconds.Furtherpumpingofthehandleswill
produce no more “clicks" or expansion of the RAUPEX pipe.
5.PushtheReleaseLever

up into the tool to open it.
Tip 2: If the expander head does not easily release from the pipe, repeat the last
pump or loosen the expander head slightly.
6.Rotatethetoolslightly(30°)andrepeatSteps3-5abovetofullyroundthe
RAUPEX pipe.
Making Compression-Sleeve Joint
TheCOMBOLOCtoolcanbeusedtocompress3/8in.and1/2in.
compression-sleevettings.
1.Insertthecompression-sleevettingintotheexpandedpipe.
2.Alignthecompression-sleevettingandsleeveintotheCompressionJaws
ofthetoolwiththecompressionsleevepulledclosetothetting.

no further. Further squeezing of the handles will not produce any more
"clicks".

5.Ifthecompressionsleeveisnotfullycompressedontothecompres-
sion-sleevetting,orifthereismisalignment,rotatethetool90°-180°
andrepeatSteps1-4above.
Tip 3:WhiletheCOMBOLOCtoolcanbeoperatedwithonehand,itmay
bemorecomfortabletousetwohandsforincreasedpowerandreduced
fatigue.
Adjustment
IftheCOMBOLOCtooldoesnotfullycompressthecompressionsleeveontothe
tting,theSlidingCompressionJawcanbeadjustedbytheusertobeclosertothe
FixedCompressionJaw.Anadjustmenttoolisprovided.

Maintenance and Use
When changing expander heads, ensure that the Expander Cone

lubricatedwithgrease.(Lithiumgreaseisrecommended.)Preventbuild-upof
dirtontheexpandercone,asthiswillcauseexcessivewearonmovingparts.
If the expander cone gets dirty, wipe it off and reapply grease. Do not expose
thetooltorain.Dryoffwettoolsafteruseandlubricate.
