1. Safety & environmental Information
• Never pus h objects of any kind into this projector t hrough cabinet s lots as they may touch da ngerous voltage po ints or short
circuit parts that could result in a risk of fire or electrical shoc k.
• Do n ot expose this projector to rain or mois ture.
• Do not immerse or expose this projector in w ater or other liquids.
• Do not spill liquid of any kind on this projector.
• Should any liquid or solid object fall into the c abinet, unplug the set and hav e it chec ked by qualified s ervice personnel before
resuming operations.
• Do not disassem ble this pr ojector, always take it to an authorized trained ser vice person when service or repair work is required.
• Do not use an accessory attachment which is not recommended by the m anufacturer.
• Lightning - For added protection for this video product during a lightning storm, or when it is left unattended and unused for
long periods of time, unplug it from the wall outlet a nd disco nnect med ia and communication cables. This will prevent dam age
to the projec tor d ue to lightning and AC power-line surges.
To prevent personal injury
• Isolate electrically before replacing the lam p o r lamp house. Caution: Hot lamp (house).
• Caution: High pres sure lamp may explode if improperly handled. Refer servicing to qualified se rvice personnel.
• To pre vent injury and physical damage, always read this manual and all labels on the system before inserting the lam p casing,
connecting to the wall outlet o r adjusting the pr ojector.
• To prevent injury, take note of the weight of the projector. Minimum 4 persons are needed to carry the projector.
• To prevent injury, ensure that the lens, exhausting system and all cover plates are correctly installed. See installation proce-
dures.
• Warning: high intensity light beam. NEV ER look into the lens ! H igh luminance could result in damage to the eye.
• Warning: extremely high brightness lamps: This projector uses extremely high brightness lamps. Never attempt to look
directly into the lens or at the lamp. If the projection distance is less than 6 meter, any person needs to be at least 4 meters
away from the projected image. Avoid clos e rang e reflection of the pr ojected image on an
yreflecting surface (such as glass,
metal, … ) . When ope rating the projector, w e strongly recommend wearing suitable safety glasses.
• Before attempting to rem ove any of the projector ’s covers, you must turn off the projector and disconnect from the wall o utlet.
• When required to switch off the projector, to access parts inside, always disconnect the power cord from the power net and
unplug the power cord from the UPS INLET.
• Do not place this equipment on an unstable c art, stand, or table. The p roduct may fall, causing serious da mage to it and
possible injury to the user.
• It is hazardous to operate without lens or shield. Lenses , s hields or ultra violet screens s hall be changed if they have become
visibly damaged to such an extent that their effectiveness is impaired. Fo r example by cracks or deep scratches.
• Warning: Protection from u ltraviolet radiation: Do not look directly in the light beam . The lamp contained in this p roduct is
an intense source of light and heat. One com ponent of the light emitted from this lamp is ultraviolet light. Potential eye and skin
hazards are present when the lamp is energized due to ultraviolet radiation. Avoid unnecessary e xposure. Protect y ourself and
your employ ees by ma king them aware of the hazards and how to protect themselves. P rotecting the skin can be accom plished
by wearing tightly wov en garments and gloves. Protecting the eyes from UV can be accomp lished by wearing safety glasses
that are designed to provide UV protection. In addition to the UV, the visible light from the lamp is intense and should also be
considered w hen choosing protective eye wear.
• Exposure to U V radiation: Some m edications a re known to make individuals extra sens itive to U V radiation. The A mer ican
Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH) recommends o ccupational UV exposure for an-8 hour d ay to be
less than 0,1 micro-watts per s quare centimeters of effective UV radiation. A n evaluation of the workplace is advised to assure
employees are not exposed to cumulative radiation levels exceeding these government guidelines.
WARNING: Never look into the exhaust ou tput. High luminance and UV radiation could result in damage to
the eye. The in stallation of an exhaust system is m and atory before operating the pro jector.
To prevent fire hazard
• Do not place flamma ble or combustible mate rials near the projector!
• Barco large screen pr ojection products are des igned and manufactured to meet the most stringent safety regu lations. This
projector radiates heat on its external surfaces and from ventilation ducts during normal operation, which is both nor mal and
safe. Expos ing flamm able or combus tible materials into close prox imity of this projector c ould result in the spontaneous ignition
of that material, resulting in a fire. For this reason, it is absolutely necessary to leave an “exclusion zone” around all external
surfaces of the projector whereby no flam mable o r combustible m aterials are present. The exclusion zon e mu st be not less
than 40 c m (16”) for all DLP Cinema projectors. The exclusion zone on the lens side must be at least 5 m. Do not cover the
projector or the lens with any material while the pr ojector is in operation. K eep flammab le and combustible materials away from
the projector at all times. Mount the projector in a well ventilated ar ea away from sources of ignition and out of direct sun light.
Never expose the pr ojector to rain or mois ture. In the event of fire, use sand, CO
2
or dry powder fire extinguishers. Nev er use
water on an electrical fire. Always have ser vice performed o n this projector by authorized B arco service pers onnel. Always
insist o n gen uine Barco replacement parts. Never us e non -Barco replacement parts as they may degrade the s afety of this
projector.
