THE ENTERTAINMENT MEDIUM FOR THE MILLENIUM
DVD has brought about a true revolution in video quality. With
perfect studio-quality captured in this incredible new format,
you get far more than ever before!
At last, it is truly possible to bring the Cinema into the home.
Home Cinema is no longer a dream. With super realistic 3D
surround sound, digital multi-channel audio, the full impact of
special effects, music scores and more are brought into stun-
ning realism.
DVD also allows up to 8 languages and 32 subtitles on a sing-
le disc! Watch movies over and over, in different languages,
with different sub-titles, using different camera angles, the
entertainment never ends. And with DVD, you always see it
as sharp as it was meant to be.
Welcome to a whole new world of entertainment!
DIGITAL VIDEO
The wonders of DVD-Video are possible due to the use of the
latest state-of-the-art MPEG2 data compression which ena-
bles an entire movie to be put on a single 5-inch disc. The
complex MPEG2 technology captures even the most complex
pictures in all their original glory.
Technically, DVD-Video provides crystal-clear digital pictures
with a high resolution of over 500 lines and 720 pixels (pictu-
re elements) to each line! This is more than double the reso-
lution of VHS, better than Laser Discs and are the closest
match to the digital masters made in recording studios!
While DVD-Video Discs could be either PAL or NTSC, this
player can play either, leaving you with no worries and more
enjoyment.
DVD-Video is poised to be the universal video system of the
future, offering optimal viewing quality on any TV screen.
DVD-VIDEO

8
Your DVD-Video player is a player for digital video discs con-
forming to the universal DVD Video standard. With it, you will
be able to enjoy full-length movies with true cinema picture
quality, and stereo or multichannel sound (depending on the
disc, and on your playback set-up). The unique features of
DVD-Video, such as selection of sound track and subtitle lan-
guages, and of different camera angles (again depending on
the disc), are all included. What’s more, Parental Control lets
you decide which discs your children will be able to see.
You will find your player remarkably easy to use, by way of
the On-Screen Display and player display, in combination with
the remote control.
It is important to note that CD-R, CD-RW discs must be FINA-
LIZED before they can be played on this player. The disc types
which run on the player feature one or more of these logos on
the disc packaging:
First check and identify the contents of your DVD-Video player
package, as listed below:
- DVD-Video player
- Remote Control Handset with separately-packed batteries
- 2-core power cord
- Cinch cable
- User Manual
If any item should be damaged or missing, please inform your
supplier without delay.
Keep the packaging materials; you may need them to trans-
port your player in the future.
• This player includes an advanced suspension system to
insulate all relevant parts from vibrations. In order to get
optimal performance from the suspension system, do not
touch or put anything on the disc loading tray during play-
back.
• Place the player on a firm, flat surface.
• Keep away from domestic
heating equipment and direct
sunlight.
• In a cabinet, allow at least 2.5
cm (1 inch) of free space all
around the player for adequate ventilation.
• If the DVD-Video player cannot read CDs/DVDs correctly
use a commonly available cleaning CD/DVD to clean the
lens before taking the DVD-Video player to be repaired.
Other cleaning methods may destroy the lens. Always keep
the tray closed to avoid dust on the lens.
Refer to section
on “Before Requesting For Service”.
• The lenses may cloud over when the DVD-Video player is
suddenly moved from cold to warm surroundings. Playing a
CD/DVD is not possible then. Leave the DVD-Video player
in a warm environment until the moisture evaporates.

HIGHEST QUALITY A/V CONNECTION
GENERAL NOTE
eenngglliisshh
11
STANDARD CONNECTIONS
For this connection, which produces the highest possible ste-
reo sound quality, you need an audio amplifier with digital
audio input. Connect the player’s digital audio output to the
corresponding input on the amplifier. In this case, do not use
the player’s audio Left and Right outputs.
For multichannel sound, your player provides both digital and
analog audio outputs.
DIGITAL (MPEG 2 MULTICHANNEL , DOLBY DIGITAL™
OR DTS) MULTICHANNEL SOUND
1 For this, which provides the highest possible sound quali-
ty, you need a digital multichannel A/V receiver.
2 Connect the player’s digital audio or digital optical output
to the corresponding input on the receiver using the
optional digital audio or digital optical cable. In this case,
do not use the player’s audio Left and Right outputs.
