Information about the product
Description of the product
The genus Chlamydophila is constituted by several species (Cph. psittaci, Cph. abortus, Cph. felis, Cph. caviae, Cph. pecorum and Cph. pneumoniae)
and belong to the family I of the Chlamydiaceae, which also include the genus Chlamydia (C. trachomatis, C. muridarum and C. suis).
Chlamydophila spp. are responsible for many diseases in ruminants, especially abortion and genital diseases.
The Applied Biosystems™ VetMAX™ Chlamydophila spp. Kit, developed in partnership with the Veterinarian Departmental
Laboratory of Deux Sèvres, is a molecular diagnostic tool enabling detection by real-time PCR of Chlamydophila spp. and Chlamydia spp.
by targeting a specific sequence of the gene encoding 23S ribosomal RNA.
Each DNA sample obtained after extraction is analyzed in a single well: the same well is used for specific detection of the bacterial
DNA of Chlamydophila spp. and for the detection of an IPC (Internal Positive Control). A positive IPC reflects both the efficiency of
extraction and the absence of inhibitor in the samples.
It can be used on bacterial DNA extracted from organs (placenta and fetus), swabs (placental, vaginal, cervical), fetal fluid, vaginal
mucus and milk.
Complete protocols for bacterial DNA extraction from these matrices are available on request from Technical Support.
Kit contents and storage
The VetMAX™ Chlamydophila spp. Kit comes in a box containing different reagents for the detection in duplex of Chlamydophila and
an internal IPC control. Upon receipt, the whole kit must be stored between −30°C and −10°C. After initial use of a component, store it
according to the following recommendations:

External Positive Control:
It consists of a Chlamydophila spp. positive control of already
extracted nucleic acid to be amplified during real-time PCR.
90 µL −30°C to −10°C −30°C to −10°C
Extraction and amplification controls
The VetMAX™ Chlamydophila spp. Kit contains 1 control, enabling validation of the amplification of the viral RNA.
4a - EPC Chlam:
Chlamydophila
spp. positive control
Already extracted positive control to be amplified during real-time PCR.
A positive result within the specified Ct range is used to validate the amplification of the Chlamydophila spp. target by real-time PCR.
