This document contains important safety and operating

instructions. Please read these instructions carefully and

save them for future reference.

Before using the battery charger, read all the instructions and

cautionary markings on (1) the charger and (2) the battery (3)

and on the radio using the battery.

1. To reduce risk of injury, charge only the

rechargeable Motorola authorized batteries

listed in Table 1. Other batteries may explode,

causing personal injury and damage.

2. Use of accessories not recommended by Motorola may

result in risk of fire, electric shock, or injury.

3. To reduce the risk of damage to the electric plug and

cord, pull by the plug rather than the cord when

disconnecting the charger.

4. An extension cord should not be used unless

absolutely necessary. Use of an improper

extension cord could result in risk of fire and

electric shock. If an extension cord must be

used, make sure that the cord size is

18 AWG for lengths up to 100 feet (30.48 m)

and 16 AWG for lengths up to 150 feet

(45.72 m).

5. To reduce risk of fire, electric shock, or injury, do not

operate the charger if it has been broken or damaged in

any way. Take it to a qualified Motorola service

representative.

6. Do not disassemble the charger; it is not repairable and

replacement parts are not available. Disassembly of the

charger may result in risk of electrical shock or fire.

7. To reduce risk of electric shock, unplug the charger from

the ac outlet before attempting any maintenance or

cleaning.

8. This is a class A product. In a domestic environment, this

product may cause radio interference in which case the

user may be required to take adequate measures.

OPERATIONAL SAFETY GUIDELINES

• Turn radio off when charging battery.

• This equipment is not suitable for outdoor use. Use only in

dry locations/conditions.

• Connect equipment only to an appropriately fused and

wired supply of the correct voltage (as specified on the

product).

• Disconnect from line voltage by removing mains plug.

• The socket outlet to which this equipment is connected

should be close by and easily accessible.

• In equipment using fuses, replacements must comply with

the type and rating specified in the equipment instructions.

• Maximum ambient temperature around the power supply

unit must not exceed 40 °C (104 °F).

• Output power from the power supply unit must not exceed

the ratings stated on the product label located on the bot-

tom of the charger.

• Make sure the cord is located where it will not be stepped

on, tripped over, or subjected to water, damage, or stress.

POWER SOURCES AND MOTOROLA AUTHORIZED

TRANSFORMERS

These Multi-Unit chargers should be used with the direct

plug-in, Motorola authorized transformer and line cords listed

in Table 2.

DESCRIPTION

The Multi-Unit Charger allows you to charge up to six NiCd,

NiMH, and Li-Ion batteries at one time. The kits contain:

• 1 Multi-Unit Charger (with six Rapid Charger Pockets)

• 1 Universal Switching Transformer

• 1 Line Cord

• 1 User Guide

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

Single-unit chargers will charge only the Motorola authorized

batteries listed in Table 1. Other batteries may not charge.

The battery charger’s pocket will accommodate either a radio

with a battery attached or a battery alone. Prior to charging

a battery with radio, turn the radio off.

To charge a battery, use the following procedure:

1. Plug the transformer into the right side of the Multi-Unit

Charger.

2. Attach the line cord to the transformer and plug into a

wall socket. The charger LED will flash green once to

indicate a successful power-up.

Note: Even though new batteries might prematurely indicate

a full charge (steady green LED), charge the battery for

14 to 16 hours prior to initial use for best performance.

Batteries will charge best at room temperature.

3. Insert a battery or radio (with battery attached and the

radio turned off) into the charger pocket by: (Refer to

Figure 1, on page 7.)

a. Aligning the grooves on each side of the battery with

the corresponding raised rail on each side of the

charger pocket.

b. Pressing the battery toward the rear of the pocket.

c. Sliding the battery into the charger pocket, ensuring

complete contact between the charger and battery

contacts.

4. When the battery or radio (with battery attached) is

properly seated in the charger pocket, the charger LED

lights a steady RED, indicating that the battery is

charging rapidly. When the battery is 90% charged, the

charger LED flashes GREEN, indicating that the battery

is being “topped-off.” When the LED lights a steady

GREEN, it indicates the battery is fully charged.

5. Remove the battery or radio (with battery attached) once

charging is complete. The battery fully charges in

approximately 90 minutes.

BATTERY LOCATING RAIL ADAPTERS

(For each Charger Pocket)

The battery locating rail for each charger pocket is a

removeable part that accommodates both standard and

slimline batteries. (Refer to Figure 2.)

Each charger is shipped with a battery locating rail in the

standard battery position.

To change to the slimline battery position:

1. Remove the battery locating rail by pinching inward both

sides while pulling from the charger pocket.

2. Turn the battery locating rail around so the back faces

the front.

3. Re-insert into the charger pocket.

ered.)

Blinking GREEN Battery is charged to 90% or greater capacity.

Steady GREEN Battery is fully charged.

RECOMENDACIONES GENERALES DE

SEGURIDAD Y OPERACIÓN

• Apague el radio cuando cargue la batería.

• Este equipo no es adecuado para uso externo. Utilícelo

sólo en ubicaciones/condiciones secas.

• Conecte el equipo sólo a una fuente de voltaje correcta con

fusibles y cableado apropiados (según se especifica en el

producto).

• Desconéctelo del voltaje de la línea al retirar el enchufe.

• El tomacorriente al cual está conectado el equipo debe

estar cerca y ser de fácil acceso.

• En equipos que utilizan fusibles, los repuestos deben

cumplir con las especificaciones de tipo y clasificación

mencionadas en las instrucciones del equipo.

• La temperatura ambiente máxima que rodea la unidad de

la fuente de alimentación no debe exceder los 40 °C

(104 °F).

• La potencia de salida de la unidad de la fuente de

alimentación no debe exceder el valor nominal establecido

en el rótulo del producto ubicado en la parte inferior del

cargador.

DESCRIPCIÓN

El cargador de múltiples unidades permite cargar de una vez

un máximo de seis baterías NiCd, NiMH y Li-Ion. El juego

incluye:

• 1 Cargador de múltiples unidades (con seis

compartimientos de carga rápida)

• 1 Transformador de conmutador universal

• 1 Cable de la línea

• 1 Guía de usuario

INSTRUCCIONES DE OPERACIONES

Los cargadores de una unidad cargan sólo las baterías

autorizadas por Motorola que aparecen en la Tabla 1. Otras

baterías no podrían cargarse.

El compartimiento del cargador de baterías alberga un radio

con una batería conectada o una batería sola. Antes de

cargar una batería con radio, apague el radio.

Para cargar una batería, utilice el procedimiento siguiente:

1. Conecte el transformador con el lado derecho del

cargador de múltiples unidades.

2. Conecte el cable de la línea al transformador y

enchúfelo a un tomacorriente de pared. El indicador

LED del cargador permanecerá verde y titilará una vez

para indicar un encendido satisfactorio.

Nota: Aun cuando las baterías nuevas indiquen de manera

prematura una carga completa (LED verde fijo), cargue la

batería por 14 a 16 horas antes de su uso inicial para un

mejor rendimiento. Las baterías se cargarán mejor a

temperatura ambiente.

3. Para insertar una batería o un radio (con la batería

conectada y el radio apagado) en el compartimiento del

cargador Consulte la Figura 1, en la página 7.

a. alinee las ranuras a cada lado de la batería con la

b. Presione la batería hacia la parte posterior del

compartimiento.

c. Deslice la batería hacia dentro del compartimiento

del cargador, asegurando un contacto completo

entre el cargador y la batería.

4. Cuando la batería o el radio (con la batería conectada)

está ajustado apropiadamente en el compartimiento del

cargador, el indicador LED del cargador permanece

ROJO fijo, indicando que la batería se está cargando

rápidamente. Cuando la batería tiene el 90% de carga,

el indicador LED del cargador permanece VERDE

intermitente, indicando que la batería se está llenando.

Cuando el indicador LED permanece VERDE fijo, indica

que la batería está totalmente cargada.

5. Retire la batería o el radio (con la batería conectada)

una vez que la carga esté completa. La batería se carga

completamente en aproximadamente 90 minutos.
