IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
To prevent personal injury or property damage, read and follow all instructions
and warnings.
When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be
followed including the following:
Read all instructions, including these important safeguards and the care and use
instructions in this manual.
To protect against electric shock do not immerse cord, plugs, or other electric
parts in water or other liquids.
Close supervision is necessary when this appliance is used by or near children.
Unplug the appliance from outlet when not in use, before putting on or taking off
parts and before cleaning.
Avoid contact with moving parts.
Do not operate this appliance with a damaged cord or plug, after the appliance
malfunctions or if the appliance is dropped or damaged in any manner. If you
experience any problems with your machine, unplug it immediately from the
electrical outlet. For service information see warranty page.
The use of accessory attachments not recommended or sold by Focus Electrics
may cause fire, electric shock or injury.
Do not use outdoors.
Do not let the cord hang over the edge of a table or counter.
Do not let the cord come into contact with hot surfaces, including a stove.
Never feed food by hand. Always use food pusher.
Do not use fingers to scrape food away from discharge disc while appliance is
operating. A cut type injury may result.
This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To
reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to fit into a polarized outlet
only one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it
still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug
in any way.
For household use only.
2
To prevent personal injury or property damage, read and follow all instructions
and warnings.
OPERATING PRECAUTIONS
Do not grind hard items such as bones or nuts.
Do not grind ginger or other materials with a hard fiber.
Do not apply excessive pressure or force while feeding food into the machine as
jamming may occur.
Wait 5 or 6 seconds when switching between “ON”, “OFF”, and “REVERSE”, or
damage to the gears may occur.
A short power-supply cord is provided to reduce risks resulting from becoming
entangled in or tripping over a longer cord.
Longer, detachable power-supply cords or extension cords are available and
may be used if care is exercised in their use. While use of an extension cord is
not recommended, if you must use one, the marked electrical rating of the
detachable power-supply cord or extension cord should be at least as great as
the electrical rating of the appliance. If the appliance is of the grounded type, the
extension cord should be a grounding-type 3-wire cord. The cord should be
arranged so that it will not hang over the counter top or tabletop where it can be
pulled by children or tripped over.
Do not use this appliance for other than its intended use.

USING YOUR MEAT GRINDER
TO GRIND MEAT
1. Place the head tightly into the motor base opening. Holding the head with one
hand, place the locking knob in the hole on the side of the motor base and
tighten it clockwise.
2. Place the feed screw into the head; long end first, by turning the feed screw
slightly until it is set into the motor base.
3. Place the cutting blade onto the feed screw shaft with the sharp blades facing
out away from the front of the appliance. Note: If it is not fitted properly, the
meat will not be ground.
4. Place the desired cutting plate next to the sharp side of the cutting blade by
fitting the tabs into the slots.
5. Screw the screw cap clockwise until tight. Do not over tighten.
6. Place the hopper plate on the head and fix into position. Cut all the food into

7. Plug the cord into a 120-volt, AC electrical outlet ONLY. Switch to the “ON”
position.
8. Use the food pusher to feed foods into the hopper plate opening.
9. When all grinding has been completed, switch the appliance to “OFF” and
unplug from the electrical outlet.
10. Clean as directed in the “Cleaning Your Meat Grinder” section of this manual.
SAUSAGE MAKING
Prepare the meat by grinding it through the 3/16 inch fine grinding plate and mixing
the sausage ingredients until all the spices are evenly distributed.
1. Place the sausage tube collar over the desired size sausage tube. Hold the
sausage tube with the collar against the cutting plate.
2. Slide the screw cap over the sausage tube and collar and screw into place.
3. With the motor running, use the food pusher to push the ground sausage meat
into 28-30 mm hog casings, 22-24 mm lamb casings, a cloth bag, or a 3½ inch
by 24 inch fibrous casing. If casings are not available, form the sausage by
hand into the desired shape. Note: Sausage should not be allowed to remain
at room temperature any longer than necessary. Place in a cooler as soon as
possible. Sausage should be allowed to chill and dry in a 28-32°F (-2-0°C)
cooler.
Jamming: If the circuit breaker stops the motor, or if the motor continues to function
but no meat comes out of the cutting plate, try reversing the motor. If unsuccessful,
switch the appliance to “OFF” and clean the appliance before continuing.
CLEANING YOUR MEAT GRINDER
1. Switch to “OFF” and unplug the appliance from the electrical outlet.
2. Make sure the motor has stopped completely. Disassemble by following the
assembly steps in reverse order. Note: To easily remove the cutting plate,
place a knife or screwdriver between the cutting plate and head.
3. Remove all food from the appliance.
4. Carefully wash all parts, except for motor base in warm, soapy water, rinse
and dry thoroughly. To prolong the life of your meat grinder, do not wash parts
in the dishwasher.
5. Wipe the motor base with a damp cloth or sponge. To remove stubborn spots,
use a mild, non-abrasive cleanser.
Note:
Do not use any bleaching solution containing chlorine as it will discolor the
aluminum surfaces.
Apply a small amount of vegetable oil to the feed screw, cutting blade, and head
after washing and drying.
