3-1. DESCRIPTION
The EDT-2400-2 trailer is a two-wheel trailer with leaf
springs and heavy duty axle. It is designed to provide the
recommended trailer tongue weight with all MILLER en-
gine-driven Welding Generators listed in Table 4-1.
The EDT-2400-2 can be fitted with optional fenders, tail-
lights and ball hitch for over the road use. An optional
clevis or lunette eye hitch is available for off road use.
This trailer is not designed to mount welding accesso-
ries, tool boxes, etc. because the additional weight
would change the trailer tongue weight.

4-4. INSTALLING TRAILER TO TOWING VE-
HICLE (Figure 4-1)
WARNING: FALLING EQUIPMENT can
cause serious personal injury and equip-
ment damage.
Use equipment of adequate capacity to lift the
unit.
Use adequate blocks or lifting device to sup-
port hitch end while pivoting trailer jack into
position (see Section 5-1).
Use trailer jack to obtain desired height and to
support tongue weight while installing hitch.
A. Ball Hitch (Optional)
1. Use jack to support trailer as instructed in Section
5-1.
2. Use holes in side of trailer tongue to install and
secure 2 in. (51 mm) ball hitch to top of trailer
tongue with 1/2-13 x 3-1/2 in. hardware. Tighten
hardware to 75 ft-lbs (102 N·m).
3. Set trailer hitch onto ball and push lever down. In-
sert safety pin through hole in lever to secure the
hitch. (To remove trailer, remove safety pin and
release lever).
4. Cross safety chains one over the other, and at-
tach safety chains to towing vehicle. Block trailer
wheels to prevent trailer from moving.
B. Clevis Eye Hitch (Optional)
1. Use jack to support trailer as instructed in Section
5-1.
2. Install one clevis bar to top of trailer tongue and
other clevis bar to bottom of trailer tongue using
1/2-13 x 4 1/2 in. hardware. Tighten hardware to
75 ft-lbs (102 N·m).
3. Attach and secure trailer hitch to towing vehicle.
4. Cross safety chains one over the other, and at-
tach safety chains to towing vehicle. Block trailer
wheels to prevent trailer from moving.
C. Lunette Eye Hitch (Optional)
1. Use jack to support trailer as instructed in Section
5-1.
2. Install and secure lunette eye hitch to top of trailer
tongue using 1/2-13 x 3-1/2 in. hardware. Tighten
hardware to 75 ft-lbs (102 N·m).
3. Install and secure trailer hitch onto towing ve-
hicle.
4. Cross safety chains one over the other, and at-
tach safety chains to towing vehicle. Block trailer

4-5. INSTALLING WELDING GENERATOR
CAUTION: UNCONTROLLED TILTING OF
TRAILER can result in personal injury or
equipment damage.
Use equipment of adequate capacity to lift the
unit.
Install welding generator onto trailer with en-
gine end toward hitch end of trailer.
Distribute weight so that trailer tongue weight
is approximately 10% of the gross trailer
weight.
1. Use jack to support trailer as instructed in Section
5-1.
2. Align mounting holes in welding generator with
proper holes in trailer frame. See Table 4-1.
When using the trailer with welding generators
not listed in Table 4-1, distribute weight so trailer
tongue weight is approximately 10% of the gross
trailer weight.
3. Secure generator to frame with 3/8 in. grade 5
hardware, and tighten hardware to 30 ft-lbs (41
N·m).

SECTION 5 OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE
5-1. TRAILER-SUPPORTING JACK
The trailer-supporting jack, located on the front, left cor-
ner of the trailer chassis, supports the trailer in a hori-
zontal position in the absence of a towing vehicle. To use
the trailer-supporting jack, lower the jack to its vertical
position as follows:
1. Pull the spring-loaded jack securing pin until the
jack is free to pivot.
2. Pivot the jack down the the vertical position. The
jack securing pin should lock the jack in a vertical
position.
IMPORTANT: Rotating the jack handle clockwise will
raise the trailer tongue. Rotating the handle counter-
clockwise will lower the trailer tongue.
3. When not in use, return the jack to its horizontal
position by pulling the jack securing pin until the
jack is free to pivot.
IMPORTANT: Whenever performing any maintenance,
lubrication, or adjustment, watch for any indication of
excessive wear, damage or malfunction. Check for free
rotation of assemblies mounted on bushings or bear-
ings. Do not operate the trailer if any component is dam-
aged or malfunctioning.
5-2. GENERAL MAINTENANCE
A. General
Lubricate all moving parts on the trailer at least once
each year using SAE 20WQ oil. If trailer is exposed to
elements or frequent off-the-road use, lubricate trailer
parts more often.
B. Wheel Bearings
Check wheel bearing every 12,000 miles, and repack
bearings if necessary. Bearings should be repacked
with a good quality lithium-based extreme pressure
grease.
