FMI CGCFTPM is a compact fireplace system that can be used to provide supplemental heat to a room. It features a variety of features that make it a convenient and efficient way to heat your home, including:

Mantel Kits
ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
IMPORTANT: Read entire instruction sheet before
assembling or installing mantel kit.
The CMA100 Series mantels are only approved for
use with CGCF, CGFP26E, VMH, and FMH series mod
-
els. Do not use mantel with any other product.
The CMA200 and GMC80 Series mantels are approved
for use with any DESA Heating Products compact
fireplace system. Do not use mantel with any other
product.
This mantel kit contains the following:

WARNING: Follow guidelines of paint or finish
manufacturer. Use care when finishing or painting
an unfinished mantel. Do not finish or paint mantel
pieces near running heater or open flame. These
vapors are generally highly flammable.
IMPORTANT: If you are staining an unfinished mantel, remove
any sawdust, dirt or oils. This will prevent blemishes from appear-
ing under the stain. Stain mantel before assembling according to
manufacturerʼs instructions. Apply sanding sealer.
IMPORTANT: If you are painting an unfinished mantel, assemble
the mantel before painting. Follow directions listed on the paint for
wood products. Apply base coat and top coat following directions
listed on product.
Note: Gather all mantel pieces together before assembling mantel.
WARNING: Only use 1
1
/4" wood screws to as-
semble header and top. Damage to the mantel will
result if the longer screws provided are used for this
purpose.

ASSEMBLING MANTEL
1. Some models require side/corner assembly. For these models,
lay leg side on floor. Position leg as shown in Figure 1. Align
predrilled screw holes in leg and leg side. Make sure ends are
flush. Attach with two or three 1
1
/4" wood screws, depending
on your model. Repeat for other leg.
2. For all models, place header between right and left legs. Make sure
header and legs are snug against each other (see Figure 2). The bot-
tom of header must be ush with shoulder and sides of legs.
3. Position header mounting block as shown in Figure 3. Attach
mounting block through predrilled with two or four 1
1
4" wood
screws, depending on your model, as shown in Figure 3. Make
sure mounting block is secured to header and leg assembly.
(Mounting block may already be attached to header or leg as-
sembly, depending on your model.)
4. If your mantel has a heat reflector strip included in the kit, place
heat reflector strip against front of header and over both corner
sections. Make certain that heat reflector strip is flush against
header and spacers are on bottom side. Attach with 1
1
/4" wood
screws to each side as shown in Figure 4.
5. Turn top and leg assembly upside down. Place leg assembly
inside top (see Figure 5). The rear of legs should be flush with
back of top and centered left to right. See Figure 6, page 3.
6. Place one metal bracket from hardware kit at the middle of
each leg assembly as shown in Figure 6, page 3. Make sure
brackets are flush against leg assembly and top, then attach to
leg assemblies only with #8 x 3/4" particle board screws.

ASSEMBLING TRIM
1. Remove packaging from three pieces of trim.
2. Locate two adjusting plates with set screws, and two shims in
the hardware packet.
3. Align shim under adjusting plate as shown in Figure 7.
4. Slide one end of adjusting plate/shim in slot on mitered edge
of top trim (see Figure 7).
5. Slide other end of adjusting plate/shim in slot on mitered edge
of side trim (see Figure 7).
6. While firmly holding edges of trim together, tighten both set
screws on the adjusting plate with slotted screwdriver.
7. Repeat steps 2 through 6 for other corner.
INSTALLING FIREPLACE WITH FULL
HEARTH BASE
1. Fireplace should be fully assembled. See Assembling Fireplace
in fireplace ownerʼs manual,
2. Place mantel base next to wall at installation location. See
fireplace ownerʼs manual for installation clearances.
3. Place fireplace on wood mantel base and center left to right.
Turn mantel right side up, then slide mantel assembly over
heater (see Figure 8).
4. Firmly snap trim assembly on shoulder screws. Shoulder screws
are located on fireplace cabinet (see Figure 8). (Locations may
vary with fireplaces.)
5. Align fireplace, base, and mantel so that the trim overlaps the
mantel evenly on all three sides.
6. Lower bottom louver door. Use two 3" wood screws provided
in hardware packet and attach fireplace base to wooden base
(see Figure 9, page 4).
7. Make sure rear of legs are flush with back of top, and mantel is
centered left to right inside top. Square legs evenly with sides
of mantel top, making certain gap between mantel top and
leg is the same from front to back. See Figure 6. Attach both
brackets to mantel top with #8 x 3/4" particle board screws.

7. Remove trim and mantel without disturbing the location of the
fireplace/base assembly. Be careful not to damage wall, trim,
or mantel.
8. Install gas line. See Connecting To Gas Supply in fireplace
ownerʼs manual.
9. Check for leaks. See Checking Gas Connections in fireplace
ownerʼs manual.
10. Place mantel around fireplace. Be careful not to damage wall
or mantel (see Figure 8, page 3).
11. Place trim kit on the shoulder screws located on the side and
top of the fireplace. Firmly snap the trim over the shoulder
screws on fireplace (see Figure 8, page 3).
12. Replace top louver onto fireplace.
